Pierced Circle Windows card

I created this card for my Paper Piercing class but decided that I wanted to also use it for my swap card at Hilton Head.  To start off our Stampin’ Up! Hilton Head Getaway Trip a couple of the girls organized a swap for us on Thursday night.  There were a bunch of groups – each had 21 swappers – so we brought 21 of the same card and came back with 20 different card swaps.  I’ll have to take pictures of the ones I received but for now here is the one that I made.

The card base is Chocolate Chip.  The underneath layer is Crumb Cake stamped with the Flowering Flourishes stamp set in Chocolate Chip.  The top layer is Baja Breeze – I punched three circles – 1-3/4″, 1-1/4″, 1″ – then I lined up each circle with the matching piercing template from the Essentials Piercing Pack and pierced a circle around each of the punched out circles.    The greeting is from Petite Pairs.

I used the Big Shot to cut Crumb Cake flowers using the Floral Fusion Sizzlit – cut two sets and then stack them together like this – 1 large, 1 medium – 1 large, 1 small – 1 medium, 1 small.  All the flowers are crumpled and sponged – I used Crumb Cake ink but if you like it darker use the Chocolate Chip.  Pierce a hole through the center of each stack and put a little button brad from the Vintage Trinkets through the flowers and then through the card front.  Attach the card front to the layered card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It’s back to reality now that I’m back from the Hilton Head trip.  Thank you Stampin’ Up! for a wonderfully relaxing getaway!  Now to work on next year!

More from Hilton Head

Just some pictures from our day yesterday –

we rode bikes in the morning – first on the beach and then on the pathways

These are the flags on all of our bikes

Yummy treats for us at the Hospitality Table – plus they had milk and cookies all day – which I didn’t get a picture of…

We had dinner a the Old Oyster Factory – this is the view over the marsh – Katy and Craig joined us for dinner – we had a great evening.

my dessert – yummmm

back to the room and our little gift – fruit and cheese tray – but we were stuffed from dinner so I’m saving it for an afternoon snack today – good thing we brought a cooler.

Off to start our day….

Hello Hilton Head Island

Hello from Hilton Head Island, SC!  We are here at the Stampin’ Up! Getaway Trip!

We arrived Thursday afternoon.  Just relaxed in the afternoon – got our bearings at the resort, took a short walk on the beach, and checked out the pools, visited the SU hospitality table – they have bikes for us and we’ll be going to get those in a few minutes, went to dinner at Hudson’s on the Dock at sunset – very pretty, and we saw some dolphins too, came back to the hotel for a card swap  – and wrapped up the evening doing not too much.

I have a few pictures to share including our Pillow Gift from Stampin’ Up!  There was a knock at the door right after we got back from dinner and this is what the guy handed me –

It’s a canvas Lands End bag with the Stampin’ Up! logo rubber stamp on the front.

Here are a few more pictures – I have others I need to get from my phone to my computer so I can post those too.  But my battery is running out and my internet access seems to be on a timer and counting down – so I’ll just post these now and try to come back later with more.

Greg at the swap with me (bonus was the free box of Girl Scout cookies – they were having a fund raiser in the ballroom next door).

SU demos swapping (we can’t go anywhere without swapping!).

See you later – we are off to ride bikes….

Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge

Today we are driving to Hilton Head for the Stampin’ Up! Getaway Trip!  I’m so excited to be going and can’t wait to see what little surprises Stampin’ Up! has for us there.  Thank you to everyone that helped me earn this trip.

It’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This week we have a color challenge – and let’s just say when I pulled up the colors – I was less than thrilled – Pink Pirouette, Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze.

Now I LOVE Baja Breeze and lately I’ve been using lots of Cherry Cobbler – but the pink I guess is throwing me off.  What in the world was I going to do with these colors…. I can’t wait to look at all the other design team creations because I need help with this one.  But I muscled through and came up with a creation for you.

It’s really a simple card.  Just not much to it.  Cherry Cobbler base.  Baja Breeze layer – embossed with the strip of hearts and stamped with the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness.  I unraveled some of the Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim to use for the “ribbon” on my card and also used a bit through one of the crystal baubles.  I punched several layers of the Pink Pirouette with the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch and one layer with the larger Scallop Circle punch.  I crumpled them all up and layered them together – I used a mini brad to hold the layers together.  Then spritzed the whole flower with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  To finish the flower I added the crystal button with the Cherry Cobbler unraveled sweater trim pulled through.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler and Cherry Cobbler Marker
  • Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Adorning Accents Folders, 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1/16″ circle punch, Color Spritzer Tool, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, mini brad, Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim, Dimensionals

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  Have you joined the Create Holiday Edition online class yet?  My guest designer project was posted earlier this week – it’s a fun card set but you have to join the class to see it and all the other great projects.  It’s a great deal with tutorials for all the projects.  So come join the fun!
