Look at this cute card that we made at the San Antonio Regional (way back in January). This is a good example of how to use a stamp set and a punch in a new way. Aren’t we always looking for different ways to use what we have – thinking outside the box…
The stamp set used on this card is the Send Me Soaring set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog. Its the set with all the kites and clouds. But there aren’t any kites on on this card – its a flower. The polka dot kite was used – stamped on Whisper White card stock and then punched. The little flower petals are the small heart punch – four hearts with the points together in the center make up the center of the flower. The same polka dot kite was used to make the leaf – punch with a circle punch and the put the punched piece back inside the circle and punch again on the other side to create the leaf.
The Designer Paper on this card is from Sweet Shop (the Pool Party waves) and from Berry Blossoms (the Expresso Polka Dots). The other layers of the flower are from the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch – there are two layers. And a bitty button in the center with some Baker’s Twine tied through.
One more trick on this card – the rounded corners – that’s not the corner rounder punch (which is smaller) – the corners were actually stuck into the Circle punch to round the corners.
I asked Diane to do this as the Make&Take card at our January Demonstrator meeting – but neither of us actually had the Send Me Soaring stamp set. So we decided to find another set to use – there are several that you could use but what Iused was Up, Up & Away – there is a hot air balloon with polka dots. Some other stamp sets you could use for the polka dots – Delightful Decorations and Sweetheart – or you you use designer paper or choose another pattern besides polka dots and then there are lots of other options. Here is the alternate version with a pearl in the flower instead of the bitty button. We added a different greeting set – Friendly Phrases and actually used the corner rounder punch.
I hope you like seeing some different ways to use your stamps, punches other than the way you thought!
Have a great day!
