More birds an animals in the yard

While going through all my Bluebird photos yesterday I did have a few of some of the other birds and animals that visit the yard so I wanted to share some of my favorites of those too.

We have lots of Chipmunks and lately I see one sitting on this rock under the Japanese Maple quite often. I wonder what he is thinking about.

Right now we have lots of Gold Finches around. I caught these two getting a drink from the fountain.

Mocking Bird at the feeder. I think they may have a nest somewhere nearby because I often see them chasing the squirrels away like they are protecting something.

I hope you enjoy these photos.  They are not always easy to get – you have to have the camera ready, and be willing to sit and watch.  This is my quiet time – sitting outside on a rock or standing at the window looking out – just waiting on a good shot.

Have a great day!

Bluebirds have left the nest!

Are you ready for a bluebird update?  Since I last posted those babies grew up and last week they left the nest!  My guess is that it was Wednesday.  Monday I took a bunch of pictures and Tuesday they were still there in the afternoon – but Thursday afternoon they were gone.  Once they leave the house needs to be cleaned but I was busy Friday so it didn’t get done and I was planning to do it this weekend (on Sunday actually).  But Saturday morning before I left to go to a scrapbook crop I noticed the bluebirds going in and out of the house again.  I watched for a few minutes and realized they were trying to clean it out.  So I decided I need to go clean it out for them real quick and save them a couple of days worth of work.  I grabbed a bag, some paper towels and some clorox wipes – opened the house and scooped out the old nest, wiped out the rest of the loose material and then scrubbed the inside of the house so it would be clean.  I went to my crop and came back about 4 hours later – to find that the house was full again with pine straw – yep they were busy all day building a new nest!!  So I’ll keep my eye for another set of eggs.  In the meantime I have pictures to share that I took over the last couple of weeks.

Most of these photos were the ones I tool on April 22nd – just a couple of days before they left the nest.  I’m sure it was crowded in that house with those 5 babies in there.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

I’ll post more this week about the retreat so be sure to visit again.

Bluebird Update – look at how we have grown!

The baby bluebirds are growing so fast!  Before I went on my trip to the Stampin’ Up! Baltimore Regional I took a picture of the babies –

Baby Bluebirds - one got food and the others are saying "me, me, me, me!"

Baby Bluebirds – one got food and the others are saying “me, me, me, me!”

That was on April 10th.  Then I went away for a long weekend and checked on them again when I got back.  This is what they look like on April 15th!

They are growing into those beaks!  So let me count the days now – this is now Day 10 – and it will be 15-18 days before they leave the nest.  Mom and Dad are busy keeping all 5 of those babies fed.

I’m glad there is new life and positive things that can brighten our day.  Such senseless things going on that I just don’t understand how or why……  so awful for everyone affected by what happened in Boston yesterday.  Not sure what else to say….

Bluebird Update & Free Shipping from Stampin’ Up!

I wanted to give you a quick update on the Bluebirds – the babies are here!!  They were born Saturday morning (that’s my best guess – since on Friday there were still eggs in the nest).  And today I was able to see all 5 hungry little mouths!  Mom and dad are busy bringing them food – so while they were away I peeked in to get a photo.

Bluebirds

I wanted to share some of the pictures that I have taken of the bluebirds.  I didn’t get a chance to peek in the house today – mom was staying pretty close so the babies may be hatching.  I’ll try to peek in tomorrow.

So Happy Scrapbook Layout

Today I have another scrapbook layout to share with you.  I usually post the layouts from my scrapbook classes and I don’t have photos on them.  I add the photos later – at least that is the plan.    This layout was based on one that was in the Stampin’ Success Demonstrator magazine maybe a year or so ago.  It was a single page layout and I modified it to be a double page layout.So-Happy-Scrapbook-Layout

The stamp set that I used is Circle Circus – the circles are stamped and punched and scattered around the layout.  The page has 2 hidden journaling and photo spots.  On the left page there is a pocket where you can add some hidden journaling.  It was made with the Petite Pocket Die.

The tag pulls out.  And then on the right page there is a little flip up page where you can add photos or both a photo and some journaling.

so-happy-right

The top part would probably be best for journaling and the bottom for a large photo.  The little love you banner would be attached on the picture.  For this layout I’m not exactly sure which pictures I’m going to put on here yet.

I like the addition of the doilies behind all the circles.  And the little bitty buttons tied with the linen thread.

In case you want an update on the Bluebirds – the momma is sitting on her eggs – we have had some unusually cold days this week – we are a good 20-30 degrees below normal!   Today is sunny and she has been out a lot eating – it is a little bit warmer than it has been and hopefully will continue to get warmer.  It is now day 6 – so she is about half way through incubating the eggs.  Tomorrow I’ll try to get outside and refill the feeders – I had to get more regular seed at the bird store today.  I have peanut splits and some suet out there and that’s what they have been eating.  Not just the bluebirds – there have been lots of birds out today eating.

Come back tomorrow for my Create with Connie & Mary challenge card – a pretty Easter card.
