Valentine’s Day projects

In January I had my Valentine’s Day class and here is a look at the projects we made –

valentine-classEveryone had a fun time making all these sweet treats and cards for those that they love.

Here is a closer look at the the little LOVE pillow box.

love-pillow-boxI made a bunch of the these for a treat wrapper swap at the Stampin’ Up! leadership conference too.  The plastic pillow box tubes were some that I ordered online.  The candy that I put inside wasn’t quite the color that I wanted so I had to come up with an idea on how to “hide” it.  The solution was to cut two pieces of card stock to fit in either side of the tube and emboss them with the new Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I slid those inside the pillow box and filled it with the candy.  I wanted to add a fun tag and I really thought that the tags that came with the November Paper Pumpkin Kit were different and fun and I knew I could create a Valentine version.  Here is a closer look at the tag –

  • love-tag
  • The tag is 2 pieces – the bottom piece is Whisper White card stock and the top piece is Strawberry Slush.
  • Both are punched with the Angled Tag Topper punch – but since they are skinnier than 2″ – they are actually punched twice – once on each side creating 2 holes in the top.
  • On the white tag I added a piece of Washi Tape from the Sweet Sadie Collection – its Pistachio Pudding with little white hearts.
  • On the Strawberry Slush tag I used the Little Letter Framelits to cut out the word LOVE.
  • Then its’ stamped with the little scattered hearts from the You Plus Me stamp set.
  • I added little punched Pistachio Pudding heart.
  • The tag is tied on to the pillow box with Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker’s Twine.

I hope you like this little project.  Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly.

Quick & Easy Valentine Treat Box

Using the Tiny Treat boxes are quick and easy for any occasion – I’ve used them a ton – so here is a Valentine idea for you.

valentine-tiny-treat-boxI used the Groovy Love stamp set.  I stamped the outline image directly on the box using StazOn Black ink.  Then stamped the polka dot heart and the little love circle on Whisper White card stock – punched them out with the matching punches and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach to the front of the box.  Fill the box with treats and tie it shut with ribbon – I used the Calypso Coral chevron ribbon.  See – quick & easy!

Have a great day!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Go check out the Artisan Design Team ideas on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page.  My Friend Cindy made a gorgeous mantel display and banner for Valentine’s Day.  I’m going to try to attach it here –

Language of Love in Gold

Gold is a hot trend right now and this card pairs up a lot of gold elements with the Language of Love to create a Valentine’s or even a Wedding card.

language-of-love-gold

I adapted an idea I found on Pinterest.  Here are the elements on my card – some are the same as the one I found and some are different.

  • Very Vanilla card base
  • Very Vanilla layer – attach two strips of gold washi tape from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape – a TIP for you here – line up the card stock on your Grid Paper first and then use the lines as a guide to get the Washi Tape straight across your card stock
  • Cut the XOXO from Gold Foil Sheet using the Circle Card Thinlits Die collection
  • Cut a large heart out of Very Vanilla card stock using the Scallop Heart Embosslit (well I thought that was still current but I can’t seem to find it online in the store)
  • Stamp the strip of hearts from the Language of Love stamp set using the GOLD Encore ink.  Punch out each heart with the small heart punch.
  • Create a double bow with Gold Baker’s Twine – I used a little magic bow maker that I found on Pinterest – I made a few so that I’d have them to use in class.  I need to get a picture of it and share it with you later.

language-of-love-gold2Here is another view so you can hopefully see the layering.  All the hearts are attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well as the layer on top of the base.  The bow is attached with a mini glue dot.  And I actually used the liquid glue for the foil.

Have a great day!  I’m writing this early in case we get a lot of ice and lose power over the next couple of days.

Banner Blast Love You

Valentine’s Day is coming this week.  For years this has been a family event for us – we have a special dinner and a scavenger hunt for the boys.  Well this year we are doing that tonight – having our Valentine’s Dinner.   Why so early – well Kyle is moving to California tomorrow morning – it will be our last night all together.  I guess is works out with a special dinner.

I have a little valentine to share with you today using the Banner Blast stamp wet from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.

banner-blast-love

I love this cute little card.  This was an idea that Shelli shared on stage at the Stampin’ up! Leadership conference.  Her version was a birthday card – using the flower image and hi banner instead.  Here are the details of this card.

  • Crumb Cake base
  • Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-A-Bration free option)
  • Classic Ink – Cherry Cobbler, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit
  • Banner Punch (Sale-A-Bration free option)
  • stamp and punch the banner pieces – attach them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Linen Thread – tie around the card front – tuck one strand under the top edge of the banners
  • cut out the little heart by hand – add a tiny rhinestone
  • Express Yourself stamp set (Hostess set in annual catalog)

Really an easy card when you have the banner punch – much quicker than cutting out the banners by hands.

I live in Georgia and yes we have another winter storm  coming – actually they say 2 back to back.  Our county is already under a warning and has a state of emergency – although nothing has happened yet.  I went to the grocery store this morning and the gas station.  Both were packed with people. The eggs were gone, bananas gone, I got the last pack of strawberries (they happened to be the long stemmed ones – so we’ll have chocolate covered strawberries for dessert tonight).  And lobster tales were $5 each!  So I’m planning to have the boys do some minute to win it games tonight after we have our Lobster dinner.   I need to set the table and get some other things done.

Oh and with the storm coming in I’m going to go ahead and drive Kyle to Atlanta tonight after dinner and let him stay with a friend.  Then he can ride Marta to the airport.  It is likely we will have ice here by morning and then snow.  So one less night of having Kyle at home – but it will be safer that way.  Tomorrow he will start a new chapter of his life in California.

Will you Be Mine?

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and if you haven’t already you better get busy on some Valentine cards.  Here is one idea for you today.

bee-mine

Let’s see how this card came together –

  • Card base is Crushed Curry
  • Whisper White cut with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die
  • Strip of Basic Black card stock
  • Strip of Eastern Elegance Designer Series paper (the Crushed Curry pattern)
  • the focal element is a stamp from the Crazy, Mixed-up Love stamp set (it is a fun set for Valentine’s day).  I used Stampin’ Write Markers – Basic Black for the Bee and Crushed Curry for “mine”, color the stamp with the markers, huff on it and then stamp it on Whisper White card stock.  Punch it out with the circle punch.  bee-closeup
  • Use the Artisan Label Punch to create the Crushed Curry layer.
  • Then punch 2 Artisan Label punches from Basic Black card stock – cut each one in half in opposite directions.  Then glue each piece behind the Crushed Curry layer as a mat.  You can’t even tell it’s 4 separate pieces!  It just looks like a larger version of the punch.
  • Punch a tiny heart from Real Red using the Two-Step Owl punch and glue it inside the wings of the bee.
  • And a final touch I did dot the eye with the Crushed Curry marker – you can see it in the close up photo.

One more look at the whole card –
