Feb 6, 2011 | Occasions Mini 2011, Punch Art, Valentine's Day |
At the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference I participated in several swaps – one of the swaps (actually I did this one twice) was called a Candy Wrapper Swap. I participated in two groups and then my roommates Becky and Diane also participated in different groups. That gave us 40 different ideas between all of us that we could share. This one was one of my favorites that the other girls received (I don’t know who created the swap so if it was you let me know). I was able to take pictures of it so that I could re-create at home.
Isn’t this the cutest idea? I have made these before at Christmas with the snowmen and the wrapped peppermint patties. I do have to tell you that I wasn’t able to find the little wrapped mints anymore – now they come in little rectangle bags – is anyone else able to still find the wrapped mints – I’m talking about the small peppermint patties wrapped in foil. Anyway I had to search the candy aisle for something that would fit between the scallop circle – and it needed to be relatively flat – I finally found something that would work – they were dove chocolates. Enough about the all important candy and more about the project.
The clear bags are some that I ordered online. Get the punches out – the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punch, 1-3/8″ Circle punch, 1-1/4″ Circle punch, Two-step Owl punch, Full Heart punch. The colors are Real Red, Basic Grey, Blushing Bride, and Whisper White. Punch 4 Real Red Scallop Circles, punch 4 Basic Grey Scallop Circle, punch 4 Blushing Bride 1-3/8″ Circles and 3 Whisper White 1-1/4″ Circles. Punch the owl – his body is Basic Grey – eyes are white and black with tiny wiggle eyes in the center – his belly/shirt (I’m still not sure what to call that piece) – is from the Play Date Designer Series paper (the red heart print) – the little heart is Blushing Bride. The pink and white punches were sponged with Basic Grey ink.
I used the Lovely Letters stamp set for the ‘L’, ‘V’, ‘E’. The owl will be the ‘O’ in LOVE. The top of the bag is tied with Blushing Bride ribbon and a punched heart was added for a tag. The ‘xoxo’ is a rub-on from the Occasions Mini catalog.
I hope you love this project as much as I do! It was part of my Valentine class that I had in January. There’s only 8 or so more days until Valentine’s day so get busy making sweet treats for your loved ones. My boys will be getting one of these.

Jan 26, 2011 | My Digital Studio, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Scrapbook Pages, Valentine's Day |
Last week I went to the Ronald McDonald House with some of my demonstrator friends. We do this once a month and each take turns designing a card and bringing the supplies. This month Joyce designed the card. A few months ago I started taking pictures of the guests with their cards and while they worked. They seem to like this so I have continued to do that when I go. Today I decided to make quick My Digital Studio page to show all my pictures.
Have a great day!

Jan 15, 2011 | Big Shot, Occasions Mini 2011, Stampin' Up! Events, Valentine's Day |
So sorry for not posting. I thought I would have time to get back to the computer during Leadership but they kept us busy from the minute we got up until we got back to our rooms and fell down in our beds. Leadership officially ended last night about 11 o’clock. But we are up again this morning with another full day planned of stamping, friendship and fun in Nashville – although with a smaller group. I wanted to get this quick post out and I’ll tell you more about all the exciting things from leadership when I get back home tomorrow and over the next week.
This is a project I made for two different swaps – a candy wrapper swap and a Valentine WOW swap. You may recognize it from last year when I originally created this idea. I’ll share some more specific details later – I need to go now!
Hugs & Kisses Holder – Valentine swap

Jan 10, 2011 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, Stamper's Club, Valentine's Day |
I adapted this box idea from Stampin’ Up! to be a “Rules of Chocolate” box. Inside the box are 12 Hershey nuggets wrapped in some of the Love Patterns Designer Series paper.
I printed out 12 rules of Chocolate on regular printer paper – cut them into strips and then folded them up and tucked them under the Designer Paper on the bottom of each nugget. It is sort of like a fortune cookie where you pull out your fortune – only here you are pulling out a rule of chocolate to remind you that it is OK to eat it!
The Love Patterns Designer Series paper is available right now through Jan. 24th either by itself or as part of the Filled with Love Bundle. The box is the Box #2 BIGZ XL Die for the Big Shot. I cut it out of Pretty in Pink card stock. I stamped the string of hearts from the Valentine Defined stamp set on the box in Pretty in Pink – so it is hard to see in this picture. Some of the girls Friday night stamped in Real Red and that was cute too and easy to see. There is a strip of Pretty in Pink designer paper around the box. The front has 2 pieces of ribbon – Pear Pizzazz 1/2″ Stitched-Poly and Pretty in Pink 1/4″ Grosgrain. If you attach the ribbon at an angle it looks like a cupid’s arrow going through the heart but I attached mine straight across the box.
The heart on the front is some of the Real Red designer paper punched with the Full Heart punch. The Pear Pizzazz heart behind it was cut with the Big Shot using the Movers & Shapers Curly label die with the Punch Windows Movers & Shapers heart. This one was distressed with the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit. Happy Valentine’s Day is stamped in Real Red ink on Pear Pizzazz card stock and punched out with the Modern Label punch. Curl it a little with a bone folder and glue it down at the ends to the front of the box. The stamp comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I also added one of the heart shaped Bitty Buttons – it has a piece of 1/8″ Real Red Taffeta Ribbon pulled through the holes and tied in a knot in the front.
The “Rules of Chocolate” was added to the lid – now what do you think of that handwriting? Isn’t it GORGEOUS? Well it isn’t mine – one of the girls in my Stamper’s Club has this beautiful handwriting and we told her she needs to create a font called Sabrina (that’s her name) and sell her handwriting for all of us that don’t have nice handwriting. I’m not sure how you go about doing that but I think she should do it.
I’m writing this on Sunday night as we wait on a snow/ice storm to come – it is moving closer with every news report but so far nothing is here yet and our schools haven’t been closed but many others have. We are supposed to have 100% precipitation tonight and all day tomorrow. I’ll put and update on here when I get up in the morning and see if we scared it all away by getting so prepared.
SNOW UPDATE: the snow did come – started about 10:00 pm and we got 1″ in the first 30 minutes. This morning we have 6″ – record highs all over GA for snow. The snow has stopped and we are now getting some freezing rain. Almost everything is closed and the airport is pretty much not moving right now. I don’t know how little dogs handle places with lots of snow – mine couldn’t walk because it is up to their bellies – they finally figured out they needed to hop to get through it. I’ll post pictures later today.
UPDATE: CLICK HERE for a pdf file of the 12 Rules of Chocolate that I used – I found several lists on the internet and picked from those.

Dec 21, 2010 | Cards, Occasions Mini 2011, Sale-A-Bration 2011, UDI Color Challenge, Valentine's Day |
It’s Tuesday and time for the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge – this is #15. Click on this link to go to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog. This is the inspiration that Gretchen gave us this week –

These are not my idea of Christmas colors but I think you could do a Christmas project with them – but I didn’t – I went with a different Holiday. This was another idea from my issue of Paper Crafts magazine. With that in my hand, my sneak peek items from the upcoming mini catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure in my craft room and the new Filled with Love promotion in my mind – I ended up with a card that has a Heart theme to it – perfect for Valentine’s Day!

There are several sneak peeks in this card – a new stamp set called Valentine Defined that will be in the Occasions Mini Catalog starting on January 4th. A new Designer Series Paper – Ice Cream Parlor – that is one of the Sale-A-Bration product choices beginning on January 25th. And another Designer Series Paper – Love Patterns pack – this one you can get now as part of the new Filled with Love Promotion.
The Filled with Love Promotion runs from December 17, 2010 – January 24, 2011. Valentine’s Day is the second biggest holiday for sending cards, and during the Filled with Love promotion, you can get an exclusive package of Designer Series Paper perfect for creating cards for family, friends, classmates, and more! And you get a FREE package of Bitty Buttons–a $4.95 value–when you purchase an exclusive Filled with Love Bundle. Contact me for more details or click on the picture below to go to my website.

Now for some more information about my card. The grid paper on the card is not one of the Designer Papers – I actually created it using a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, my Stampin’ Write Markers, a ruler and my Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper. I cut my card stock to size and lined it up on a piece of my grid paper. I used the ruler for my straight edge and varied the colors of the lines using the colors from the color challenge – Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo.
Once my colored grid paper was created I added a strip of Melon Mambo card stock to the back that was punched with the Scallop Border Punch. I punched hearts out using all of our Stampin’ Up! Heart punches and various Designer Series Paper. These were all folded in half and then attached to my card front – only in the center. I used a marker to add a faux zig-zag stitch to the center of each heart. The punches make for quick decorating.
At the bottom is the Love You stamp – with the heart punched out and layered on top.
I hope you like this little sneak peek. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.
