Feb 25, 2010 | Big Shot, class, Create with Connie & Julie, Easter, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, SU Ribbon |
At last weeks class we made three Easter projects – a pocket card/invitation, a place card/candy holder, and a candy treat bag. Sometimes I’m just not sure what to call things. These were made using the Eggscellant Eggs Kit in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog and the Chocolate Bunny stamp. My class photo shows the projects made with all Pretty in Pink accents. Ok – to me these pictures don’t look as good as the other ones that I took – I was trying to use the white back drop that many people use but the lighting wasn’t so good. I’ll have to keep working on that.

Everyone had different colors because the kit came with different colors so I decided to take photos of some of the projects finished in the other colors:

Bashful Blue w/Certainly Celery

Pale Plum w/Whisper White

Pretty in Pink w/Certainly Celery

So Saffron w/Certainly Celery
These were fun! I’ll be making more in all the colors for our family Easter gathering.
These three projects along with 3 more were part of a collection I created for Create with Connie & Julie. We are in the last couple of weeks of adding new projects but everything will be available for a long time so you can still join. So far there are 27 tutorials available along with many more projects – everything includes a full supply list and some basic instructions – so you are getting a ton of ideas for the price of the subscription.

Feb 20, 2010 | Big Shot, Create with Connie & Julie, Easter, Embossing, Occasion Mini 2010, Rub-Ons, SU Ribbon |
Happy Saturday! Congratulations to last weeks challenge winners – Becky G. was first place and Lori was second place, with honorable mention going to Robin. It was so fun to see all the entries last week – I hope everyone plays along this week – good luck!
It’s Saturday and time for another challenge at Create with Connie & Julie!
This week our challenge is a Theme Challenge – Easter cards. The featured items this week are Eggcoutrements stamp set, Spring Floral Wheel, Eggcellcent Eggs Kit, and the Chocolate Bunny stamp.

I used the Chocolate Bunny and the Eggcellcent Eggs Kit along with a few other products. I was trying to do something different. The problem is that it was hard to photograph because there is a window sheet over the bunny so I kept getting a reflection when I took the picture. This one was the best one.
What I had in mind was a chocolate bunny behind the window – like the boxes in the store – and then I wanted to try something different besides making him chocolate – so mine is a white chocolate bunny! I used the Emboss Resist technique to create him. So the Chocolate Bunny is stamped with VersaMark ink on Whisper White card stock. Covered him in Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. Then I used a Stampin’ Sponge and Chocolate Chip ink over it and then buffed it with a paper towel. And now that it is done it kind of looks like an old fashioned portrait.
I added rub-ons on the window sheet – these come from the Eggcellecent Eggs Kit. The inside also has some rub-ons. I think I could have added more but decided I needed to stop before I added too much.
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies for this card:
- Crushed Curry card stock
- Chocolate Chip card stock and ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Clear Window Sheet – Medium
- Chocolate Bunny stamp
- Teeny Tine Wishes stamp set

- VersaMark Ink
- Clear Embossing Powder

- 1-1/4″ Striped Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon

Feb 14, 2010 | Big Shot, Cards, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, SU Ribbon, Thank You |
Like I said yesterday I really like this Happy Moments stamp set (Sale-A-Bration set) – so you will probably be seeing it several times in the next couple of weeks. I needed a Thank You card and happen to have one of the water colored images left from my cards I worked on for my Quick Cards class so I decided to use it for my card. And then I decided I wanted to do double duty and find a challenge where I could use a circle image. I searched around and found the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and when I was done I realized it also fit the Late Night Stampers challenge – which was a technique challenge to use some type of embossing technique.
Here is the sketch and here is my card.
I used the same colors as yesterdays card – Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery. The flowers are stamped on Watercolor paper and colored with classic ink and an Aqua painter.
Two layers are dry embossed using the Big Shot on the new Perfect Polka Doats embossing folder. The patterned paper is from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper stack.
I added Bashful Blue satin Ribbon and the Curly Label punch layered with the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die for the Big Shot.
On the inside is a Whisper White layer stamped with the flowers and then I stamped on the envelope to match too.
I’ll take it to the post office on Monday to send to Zoe – thanks for sharing your skinny clear bags with me!
Thanks for stopping by!

Feb 13, 2010 | Birthday, Cards, Create with Connie & Julie, Designer Series Paper, Sale-A-Bration 2010, SU Ribbon, Watercoloring |
Last week’s challenge winners were Lisa Martz and Robin Gregor with Cynthia Stevenson having an honorable mention! Thanks to everyone that played along. I hope you will join us this week!
It is time for another challenge at
Create with Connie & Julie! This week our challenge is a SKETCH challenge. The featured items this week are from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Brochure – Happy Moments, Tote-ally Tess, and Tiny Tags stamp sets. I decided to use the Happy Moments stamp set – it has turned out to me one of my favorite’s from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Once I started to use it I realized this is one of those sets that covers almost any occasion – change the colors and combine various sentiments with the images and you can use it for almost anything.
Here is the sketch that we had to work with.
I picked the colors because I had some ribbon that was sitting together in my craft room – Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery – I like how they looked together so I decided to use that for my color scheme. Based on the sketch I decided to get out the Sweet Pea Designer Paper Pack and I chose papers that had those colors and cut them into 1/4″ strips to layer on my card.
As I was creating the card I didn’t like the sentiment coming off the top of the image so I decided to flip the sketch upside down.
The image is stamped on Watercolor paper and I used my Classic ink and an Aqua Painter to do the watercoloring. I added some linen thread at the top.
I also wanted to decorate the inside of the card. So I used the same image and added a “hanger” for the bird cage by tracing around a punched circle. I really like how it turned out. I actually made a full set of cards using all the images in the happy Moments stamp set. I will show that later – it will be one of my new Quick Cards classes – I’m just trying to choose the date and then I’ll let everyone know.
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies for this card:
- Chocolate card stock and ink and Stampin’ Write marker
- Bashful Blue card stock and ink
- Certainly Celery ink
- Old Olive ink
- Sahara Sand ink
- Black StazOn ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Watercolor paper
- Sweet Pea Designer Paper pack
- Whimsical Words stamp set (SAB)
- Happy Moments stamp set (SAB)
- 1-3/4″ Circle Punch
- 1″ Circle Punch
- Aqua Painter
- Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon
- Linen Thread
- Paper Piercer and Mat Pack
- Stampin’ Sponge
- Stampin’ Dimensionals

Feb 2, 2010 | Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, SU Ribbon |
I did a ribbon share for the new Satin Ribbon in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. Every participant gets about 3 yards of each color of Satin Ribbon – there are 9 colors available. I like to present the ribbon shares in a nice way so this time I decided to use the new Glassine Bags that are also available in the Occasions Mini Catalog. And this is what I came up with….
I cut each ribbon and then wrapped then around my hand. Then tied a piece of crochet thread around each bundle. Each bundle got a tag that was punched in the matching color card stock using the Modern Label punch. I printed labels with the colors and item numbers to put on the tags. Inside each Glassine bag I put either 4 or 5 bundles of ribbon then folded the flap over. I put the two bags together and tied them with a piece of Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon.
Then I decided to create a tag and decided to use the Sale-A-Bration set Vintage Labels. I have the Clear Mounted set and it was so easy to use and get the “for you” in the center of the label. The label was punched with the Wide Oval punch and I sponged the edges. I punched a 1/16″ hole in the top and tied it to the package with a piece of linen thread.
You could use the Glassine bags for any little gift or a small treat for someone special. Add some ribbon and a tag and your set.
Have a great day today!

Jan 23, 2010 | Birthday, Create with Connie & Julie, Occasion Mini 2010, Rock 'n Roll, Rub-Ons, SU Ribbon |
It’s Challenge Day at the Create with Connie & Julie – Occasions Edition class. Congratulations to last weeks winners – Sue and Lori. Our challenge this week is a sketch challenge. Here is a look at the sketch:
This week in class we are featuring the following products from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog: Vintage Vogue stamp set, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, and from the Sale-A-Bration brochure the Vintage Labels SAB set. Class members are encouraged to participate in the challenges so you can win prizes each week! So get busy with this sketch challenge and then go to the class site and link your entry to the challenge post. Good Luck – I hope you win!
And here is my card for the sketch:

This card is a little bit different than a standard card – it is actually a mini card on a post card backing. So the piece that opens is the Chocolate Chip piece. Here is a photo from another angle:

And here is one of the inside:
Sometimes you only need a few words to say what you need to say so a small space is enough.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies used:
- More Mustard card stock and ink pad
- So Saffron card stock and ink pad and refill
- Chocolate Chip card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Vintage Vogue stamp set
- Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel
- Well Scripted stamp set
- Jumbo Handle, Jumbo ink cartridge
- Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon
- Linen Thread
- Chit Chat Rub-ons
- Earth Elements brads – More Mustard
- 5/16″ Jumbo Brads – Chocolate Chip
- Playground Designer buttons – More Mustard flower
- 1/16″ and 1/8″ handheld punches
- Mini Glue Dots
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
The large flowers are stamped using the Rock & Roll technique – ink first in So Saffron and then roll the edges in More Mustard ink. The small flowers are just stamped in More Mustard. All the flowers are cut out. For one large flower punch a hole in the center. Wrap the ribbon around the More Mustard card stock and pull both ends through the center of the flower – tie in a knot and trim the ends of the ribbon. Add the brads and buttons to the other flowers and add to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used a rub-on on the front of the card from the Chit Chat set in the regular catalog but there is a new set in the Occasions Mini called Chat Room. These rub-ons are such a great deal – you get about 200 greetings in each pack. Both of these sets have a variety of styles and sayings.
