Iced Tea Holder

Today’s project is a fun little pouch that could have lots of different little things put inside.  For mine I chose to use it for Iced Tea packets and based my color choice on the tea package.  The idea for this pouch came from a project I saw on Stampin’ Connection created by Nelia Harper.

Here is the pouch with everything inside – the colors are Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso.  I used a medium cello bag and wrapped it with Cherry Cobbler card stock that was run through the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  If you fold up the card stock before putting it in the embossing folder the whole thing will fit inside.  I did have to open my multipurpose platform to use none of the tabs since the card stock was doubled.

Inside the pouch is my jumbo packet of Iced Tea and then I added a tag to slide in there with it.  You can print the instructions from the box on the back of the tag or write a little note.  The tag uses the Word Play stamp set which is on sale for 30% off this month – what a great deal!  It has a lot of fun phrases in it that make it great for scrapbooking.  I also used the Tart & Tangy stamp set – I liked the idea of the lemon to go with the tea.

The flower on the outside of the pouch is the Fun Flowers die that was introduced in the Occasions Mini catalog.  While the mini catalog has ended this die is still available.  The edges of the flower are sponged and you can either crumple the flowers or curl them with a bone folder to give them shape.  I added a jumbo button to the center tied with some Linen Thread in the center.

It really ended up being a fun project.  I hope you like it.  The Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog started today.  There is a link on the side bar of my blog and you can see the products on my website.  Also two specials – the National Scrapbooking Month Special – 30% off selected stamp sets, 30% selected My Digital Studio Professional Print products, 30% off selected My Digital Studio download bundles – you can see all of them on my website online store.  There is also a special My Digital Studio Starter Kit option this month – so if you have an interest in joining my team as a demonstrator and want to know more about the My Digital Studio Starter Kit option call me and I’ll tell you all about it.  My next team meeting is on May 14th and I’d love for you to join me.

Utah Divas International Color Challenge – #32

Tuesday is here again – it just seems to come around so quickly – where does the week go?

This week’s Utah Diva’s Color Challenge was pretty easy for me – it just so happened that I was already working on something that pretty much used these same colors.    Daffodil Delight, Basic Black and Whisper White – all I had to do was add the Basic Gray.

Click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog.   There you can see the creations from the entire design team and add a link to your creation if you decide to play along.

So what was I working on with these colors – my March Ribbon share boxes.  I happen to have in my big stash of stuff a bunch of little take out boxes that were Daffodil Delight.  I bought these a couple of years ago at a store in the $1 bin.  And never did use them.  I was trying to think of a good way to present my ribbon share this month – I like to do something creative – it goes with the territory….. and I thought about these little boxes.  So that is what I used.

Inside each box is all the ribbon for the ribbon share.  Then when I saw the color challenge for this week I thought I just need to add the Basic Gray to this project and it will be perfect.  Here is my updated project for the Color Challenge today.

I stamped the flower from Fifth Avenue Floral on a piece of Watercolor paper and used my Aquapainter and the Daffodil Delight ink to watercolor the flower.  Then I cut it out. It is layered with a dimensional on top of a scallop circle punched out of Basic Black card stock.  Then underneath that is a larger scallop circle out of Basic Gray.  This one is actually the scallop end of the tag on the Two Tags die cut using the Big Shot.  What you do is cut the tag out, then put the tag back on the die in the opposite direction matching the cut scallop end up with the scallop on the die to cut the other side.  This cuts out the other half which then layers perfectly with our original Scallop Circle punch. Finally I added pearls to the center of the flower and then put it on the front of the box.

On the top of the box is an oval punch that says “for you”.  And I tied the top of the box with Taffeta Ribbon – in Basic Black, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.

So you have two different versions of the take out boxes.  The one with the ribbon share uses the Four Frames stamp set for the label on the front.

Take a minute to visit the UDI site and play along with us this week.

Spring is Blossoming promotion card

During the month of April Stampin’ Up! has a special called the Spring is Blossoming promotion.  It is a sneak peek of two new products from our next Idea Book & Catalog that will be out in July.  During April is you spend $20 you can buy the Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper.  The stamp set contains four images that fit in the Decorative Label Punch – so you’ll want that to go with this set.  I’ve already shared one project that I made with this set and today I have another.

This was one of the cards we made on Friday in my Hands-On Class.  The layout for the card came from one that I saw in a magazine – I followed the sketch from that card but everything else was different.  The card base is River Rock.  And the top left corner is corner rounded.  A piece from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper is layered on the front (also corner rounded in the top left corner).  Going across the card is a strip of Baja Breeze that was punched with the Eyelet Border punch.  And then another piece of the Designer Series Paper is added to that.  The Four Frames stamp with the bird was stamped with Early Espresso ink on Whisper White card stock.  Punch out with the Decorative Label punch.  Add a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Using the Baja Breeze Stampin’ Write marker color the very edge of the label and also color in the bird.

Now on the left side of the card is some Early Espresso Satin Ribbon, a Paper Daisy, an Early Espresso button and some Linen Thread – it is all tied together – trim the ends of the ribbon and thread and it creates a pretty embellishment on the card.  Do you like it?

I seem to gravitate towards the frame with the bird – but I’ll have another card tomorrow that uses a different frame.  I hope you’ll be back to see it.

Utah Diva’s Color Challenge – #30

This weeks Utah Diva’s Color Challenge was much easier for me than some of the others that we have had.  I could have made lots of different things with these colors.  Early Espresso, Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla.

Click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog.   There you can see the creations from the entire design team and add a link to your creation if you decide to play along.  This week I decided to use the Sneak Peek stamp set – Four Frames that you can earn free as a workshop hostess or purchase with a $20 order during the month of April.  All four images in the stamp set fit inside the Decorative Label punch so you can make quick cards with it.  My project is a whole set of cards with a matching box that holds the cards and the envelopes.

The box is actually two boxes glued together – one that holds the 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ cards and the other holds the envelopes.  On the front panel you’ll see one of the four images from the Four Frames stamp set.  I added the Vanilla Rosettes to the front. To color them I tried first using my Real Red reinker with some water and soaking the rosettes – this didn’t really work with the Real Red – I think other colors would be ok; but the red just looked like blood to me.  So then I tried just coloring them with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker and that gave me a better color – they actually look Real Red now.  This method leaves a few uncolored spots unless you really take time to get your marker in between all the layers of the flower.  I attached them with a small drop of Crystal Effects to the front of the box.  The cards are two different designs – one is the same as the front of the box and the other I just used the ribbon differently but the parts are the same.  So here are pictures of all the cards:

I hope you’ll visit the UDI site and play along with us this week.

Vintage Jar

Last night was my April Stamper’s Club meeting and we made this cute Vintage Jar.  At least I thought it turned out cute.  It was another last minute project that I finally figured out as I was going to bed.  And then got up the next morning and still remember what I had finally figured out so I could actually create it.

I got these little jars through the bulk buy group and had used them for the pin cushion button jars but wanted to come up with something else too.  I have made these little scrunchy folders for the last few weeks and thought it would pretty to add one to the top of one of these jars.  I used the First Edition Designer Series paper and punched using several punches lots of layers.  I scrunched them all up and then flattened them back out, stack them up and punch a hole through the center.  Add the antique brad.  Here is a close up:

The Love Letter DSP is on the lid – cut with the Big Shot and the 3″ circle die – this one is just flat.  The punches I used on the First Edition papers were 2-1/2″ Circle punch, 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punch, 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle punch, 1″ circle punch.  I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock with the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit – added the largest one to the top of the flower and the bitty one to my ribbon.  Oh, the ribbon around the lid is the 1-1/4″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Basic Black – cut in half – so just half of it was used to wrap around the jar lid and tie in a bow.  The last little thing is the stamped jewelry tag using the “{love}” from Tiny Tags.  It was tied around the brad using some Linen Thread.

Put something you love inside.  Your favorite candy, your favorite buttons, ticket stubs, little notes, ribbon, etc.

Have a great day!

UDI Color Challenge 27

Tuesday is here again.  And its UDI Color Challenge day.  For those of us on the design team we actually create our projects the week before and send them to Gretchen so she can get the post ready to go for Tuesday.  Some weeks I cut right to the deadline (ok a lot of weeks) and other weeks I’m a little ahead of the game.  This week I made it ahead of the deadline and thought I had a pretty creative idea to share too.  I’ll see if you agree.

Here is the inspiration photo for this week –

Click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog.   There you can see the creations from the entire design team and add a link to your creation if you decide to play along.  So here is my card creation for this week –

I was very happy when I realized we had the Seam Binding ribbon in three of the colors in our challenge this week – Baja Breeze, Always Artichoke, and Very Vanilla.  I wanted to use all three but couldn’t decide exactly the best way to do that.  I finally decided to try braiding the three colors together.  To start tie a knot with the three pieces together and then tape that down to the table to hold it still.  Then do a loose braid for the length that you need.  For this card I used a trick that one of my demonstrator friends, Joyce, reminded me of this weekend – I had seen it before but had forgotten.  See where the knot is right under there is a hole punched through the Very Vanilla card stock.  So to start come from the back and bring the ends of the ribbon through.  I used tape to hold the ends together while I worked.  Bring the ribbon (in this case my braid) around to the front of the card, all the way across, and to the back.  For mine I secured the end of my braid at the top edge and bottom edge with tape on the back side – and then un-braided what was on the back so it would lay flat.  When the end gets back to the hole on the back bring the other end of the ribbon through the hole.  Now both ends are in the front – put one on each side of the braid and then tie the knot around.  This keeps everything in place and everything secure.  Then I decided to fray the ends – I think that actually took the longest.  Trim just the very edge off each side of the ribbon and then pull out all the cross hairs until you are just left with the long pieces.  I did that 6 times one for each end of each color of ribbon.

The stamp set is Herb expressions.  I used sponging on the edges of the Very Vanilla and the Color Spritzer with the Stampin’ Write Markers.  The Rosemary image is colored in with the markers too.  I created a matching inside panel but forgot to take the picture of it.  I’ll try to add that later.  I hope you like it!

I hope you’ll visit the UDI site and play along with us this week.
