May 8, 2009 | Big Shot, SU Ribbon |
Here is another project from our weekend retreat. This one was designed by Jill who ended up not able to attend, but
sent her project anyway. It would make a cute party favor for a birthday party. It is a litttle pound puppy carrier. The idea came from a pattern for a mailbox. You could also use the same idea as a bug catcher – use some mesh on it. Here are the basic instructions:
- Add texture to the body (5″ x 7″ piece of card stock) of the carrier using the Big Shot Die-cut machine and texture plates. Then using an ink pad rub over the texture to further define it.
- Score a 4″ x 5″ piece of card stock at 1/2″ from each side to create the base.
- Apply sticky strip to both sides of the base – the 1/2″ pieces – and attach to the body of the carrier.
- Cut out the ends from a 3 x 3-1/2″ piece of card stock and score each 1/2″ from the bottom. Use sticky strip to adhere to the base piece.
- Use the 1-1/4″ circle punch to punch a window in the door – this is the front.
- Use a Crop-A-Dile to add to Jumbo Brads to the top of the carrier – and tie a 12″ piece of striped ribbon through to create the handle.
- Punch out two word window punches from scrap card stock and adhere with sticky strip to the back of the carrier at approximately 10 and 2 to hold the back shut.
- Punch a small hole in the front door and in the front top of the carrier for the 12″ piece of taffeta ribbon that holds the door shut.
- Add stitching with the white gel pen if desired.
- The small puppy fits inside and peeks out the window.
Isn’t it cute!
We have a soccer tournament this weekend and it is Mother’s Day. I am hoping to have time to post both days this weekend – but if I don’t that just means I was busy. Tonight is Stamper’s Club and I’m finishing up for that. Actually one of the cards we are making tonight – I was inspired by the colors on this pet carrier for the colors on my card. Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point. Isn’t this puppy the perfect Pacific Point color!
Have fun and Happy Mother’s Day!

I found these little treat boxes on the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator website today. They are made using the Eight Great Greetings stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. One is done in Kiwi Kiss and tied with the Satin Kiwi Kiss ribbon and the other is Baja Breeze and the Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon. Both of these ribbons are part of my May ribbon share.
The Eight Great Greetings stamp set has something for almost every occasion – Easter, Thanks, Dad, Wedding, Congrats, Birthday, Mother, Shower. You can create treat boxes like these for occasions all year long by changing the color and ribbons and using a stamp from this set.
Here are some birthday treat boxes done in Pacific Point with the Pacific Point striped ribbon – also part of the May ribbon share.
The triangle box is the same box we made earlier this year for Valentine treats – a very easy treat box that doesn’t need adhesive to hold it shut – the ribbon holds it shut at the top. To make one cut your card stock into a rectangle and score it in half – this will be the bottom of the triangle. Then mark the center on either end and scor diagonally across the card stock from the center score to the center mark on each side – you will be making four more score lines forming a diamond shape on your card stock. Now fold in on the score lines and punch a hole where the sides meet to tie the ribbon through. The size of your triangle will depend on the size of card stock that you start with. Add your decoration to the front. Have fun making treat boxes!
I have added a new picture to my side bar – it is a reminder that I will be participating in another Blog Tour on May
15th and 16th. I’ll be with a new group of people and some items will be from the Occasions Mini Catalog and others will be from the main catalog. I hope you will join me.

These don’t have to be Mother’s Day if you don’t have a need for that.
Depending on how many people sign up you may be able to make two sets if you need to.
The class fee will be $10 – please bring your scissors and adhesive.
RSVP by Tuesday, May 5th so I know how many people to expect.

The March Ribbon Share is ready and I’m pleased with the packaging and just love the ribbons.
I used the new Oval All stamp set and Scallop Oval Punch for decorating my ribbon package. I sent an email out to everyone that was part of the ribbon share.
I had an extra oval left over so I decided to turn it into a little card – it is so cute! I made a 3×3 card.

Supplies:
- Oval All stamp set
- Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
- Bashful Blue Classic Ink
- Stampin’ Write Markers: Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose
- Chocolate Chip card stock
- Bashful Blue card stock
- Rose Red card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Bella Rose Designer Series paper
- Large Oval Punch
- Scallop Oval Punch
- Wide Oval Punch
- Scallop Edge Punch
- 1/16″ handheld punch
- Clear Rhinestone Brad
- Stampin’ Sponge
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
Instructions:
- Fold Chocolate Chip card stock in half to form card base.
- Scallop the front edge of the card using the Scallop edge punch.
- Attach a strip of Rose Red card stock under the scallop edge – line it up with the other half of the card to make an even edge.
- Attach a piece of the chocolate polka dot paper from the Bella Rose Designer paper.
- Stamp the “fabulous friend” image using Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White card stock. Color with Stampin’ Write markers and punch out with the Large Oval punch. Sponge Bashful Blue ink around the edges.
- Stamp the “thank you” image using Chocolate Chip ink on Bashful Blue card stock. Color in the small circles with Bashful Blue Stampin’ Write marker. Punch out with the Scallop Oval Punch. Sponge edges with Bashful Blue ink.
- Punch a Wide Oval out of Rose Red card stock. Layer the “fabulous friend” oval on top of the Bashful Blue oval and that on top of the Rose Red oval. Add a clear Rhinestone brad to the center of the flower.
- Punch two additional Scallop ovals from Bashful Blue card stock. Overlap the ends and adhere together so that it is slightly wider that the Rose Red wide oval. Sponge the ends with Bashful Blue ink. Adhere the Rose Red oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the two Bashful Blue ovals. Attach to the front of the card with snail adhesive.
This set and the new scallop oval punch are going to be a lot of fun! Bird update is in the post right before this one.

Mar 30, 2009 | Eastern Blooms, SU Ribbon, Thank You Kindly |
This project uses the Eastern Blooms stamp set and the Thank You Kindly stamp set. Since the March Kit used the Thank You Kindly stamp set and the March Ribbon share includes the Pink Pirouette ribbon I thought this would be the perfect project to share since it used both. This was a project that we made at convention last summer and I made mine a little bit different than the original Stampin’ Up! instructions. Here are all the details:
Supplies:
Eastern Blooms stamp set
Thank You Kindly stamp set
Pink Pirouette card stock: 9-1/2″ x 6″
Bella Rose Designer Series paper: 12″ x 2″
Whisper White Note Cards and envelopes
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
Pink Pirouette Classic Ink
Pink Pirouette 1-1/4″ grosgrain ribbon: 11″
Linen Thread: 12″
Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads: 1 pink
Sticky Strip
Pop-up Glue Dot
Crafter’s Tool Kit
Scallop Edge Punch
Paper Cutter with scoring blade
Instructions:
1. Score 9-1/2″ x 6″ Pink Pirouette card stock at 4″ and 5-1/2″. Score a line parallel to each long side 1″ from the edge. Cut at 4″ and 5-1/2″ from edge to 1″ score line on both sides using paper snips.
2. Stamp flowers in Pink Pirouette ink on front of box. (Mask or whip ink off outer flowers on stamp.) Assemble box using Sticky Strip.
3. Use Scallop Edge punch alon top edge of Designer Series paper. Starting at the back of box, wrap Designer Series paper strip around box, creasing at box corners. Adhere to box using Sticky Strip.
4. Thread needle from Crafters’ Tool Kit with linen thread. Stitch along edge of Pink Pirouette ribbon with stitches slightly less than 1/4″ apart. Pull thread, and gather ribbon into a circle to form rosette. Stitch ends together once, and tie knot to secure. Attach a Pink Rhinestone brad through the center of the rosette.
5. Stamp “A note of thanks” in Chocolate chip ink on Whisper White Note cards. Stamp flowers in Pink Pirouette ink on Whisper White Note cards and envelopes. (Mask or wipe ink off outer flowers on stamp.) Insert cards and envelopes into box.
6. Adhere the rosette to front of box using a Pop-up Glue Dot.
You could set this on your desk and have thank you notes all ready to go!
Happy Stamping!
