Designer Paper Purses

I signed up for several organized swaps at Leadership – for one of them I made these Designer Paper Purses.  This is for a Candy Wrapper swap – inside you could put candy – I actually put sunflower seeds in mine since I was trying to stick with a bird theme.  I used two different paper packs from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  Some are made with papers from Springtime Vintage collection and the others are made from the Botanical Gazette collection.

They all have Early Espresso for the top of the purse, Clear Rhinestone Brads for the latch, a two-step Bird punched out for the front, the Seam Binding handles and an Oval Punched tag tied with Linen Thread.

I stamped on the Botanical Gazette papers with the Nature Walk stamp set.  The papers and birds are speckled with a Color Spritzer and either Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker or a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker.

The stitching is the White Gel Pen.

I love making these purses.  I also tried making them in smaller sizes but decided to keep them big so they would fit the Sunflower seeds inside.

I hope you like them.

We are enjoying the trip to Nashville.  Once I got out of my neighborhood Wed. morning – straight up a hill of ice to get out – the roads were clear, mostly dry and it was smooth driving all the way up and over the mountains.  It took one hour for me to get out of the neighborhood (part of that was getting up the nerve to try to tackle the hill of ice) and then four hours or so to get to Nashville.

We are having fun packed, busy days and I’ll have lots to share when I get back!

Longfellows Regional Swaps

Today I have two of my card swaps that I took to the Baltimore Regional.  These both use the Level 2 Stampin’ Up! Hostess set called Longfellows.

I got this set because I thought the animals were fun and different from anything else that I had.  But once I had it here at home I couldn’t figure out exactly what to do with these long fellows!

This design works well and I plan to make cards with the rest of the gang.  I used the dog in my pets class (and the cat).  And here is my turtle version.  The Old Olive Designer Paper is from the Plate Date paper pack.

I made a new version of the cat card using Cajun Craze as my main color.  The Designer paper on this one is the Wicked Fun specialty paper.  This one is fun because the black circles are flocked so they have texture.

The animals are stamped with Jet Black StazOn Ink and then water colored with an aquapainter and classic ink.

Now I need to do the whale, the elephant and the alligator and I’ll have a complete set.

My 12 weeks of Christmas Newsletter went out earlier this week.  I sent out week 1 on Wednesday and got it out to most of the people that signed up on Thursday.  I’m going to finish sending week 1 to those that signed up on Thursday.  The next one will go out next week Wednesday.

Monika’s Blog Bingo continues – I heard several people at the regional tell me how much fun they thought it was.  I’m glad everyone thinks so!  So let’s play….

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 4 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I’m currently taking names for Round 6 – I only have a couple of spots left.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1, 2, and 3 winners.  Is anyone getting close yet?

Here is piece #11  –the alphabet from Cute by the Inch stamp set (stamped in Poppy Parade).

My Regional Blog Swap

Before I went to the Baltimore Regional last Friday I posted to my blog that I had a treat for any of my blog visitors that came and found me at the regional.  My sister-in-law, Stephanie, helped me finish up my treats at her house on Thursday and here is what they looked like.

I wasn’t sure if anybody would even come say anything to me – so I was thrilled when you guys did!!  I gave some to the SU corporate girls that came to do the regional – we happened to be sitting close to them and talked to them several time throughout the day.  I gave some away to new people I met, everyone at my table and swapped some for other 3-Ds. I hope everyone that got one liked it.

Here is a close up of the tag.  My 1×8 bags were filled with candy-coated Sunflower Seeds that my friend Sue had given me.  So I used those colors to create my tag.  I used the Share What You Love stamp that we were able to buy at the Memento Mall at the Stampin’ Up! convention this year.  I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the tags – Night of Navy, Garden Green, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie.  The little heart in the birds mouth is Pumpkin Pie.  I went back and colored in the eyes with Night of Navy so you could see them better.

I punched out the tag with the new Decorative Label Punch.  Then I punched a second one in Garden Green and cut it in half and trim the centers.  These were layered on each end.  Punch a third one out of Night of Navy and turn it in the opposite direction.  All of that was layered on a piece of More Mustard punched using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  Both of these punches are in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.

At the regional we had a couple of extra little surprises.  One was a little button that everyone got for attending the regional.  Each regional has its own design.  Here is mine with my name tag.

And like all Stampin’ Up! events there was a prize patrol.  A list of names get shown on the screen for the prize winners – I think they did it three or four times throughout the day.  And on one of them I was a winner!! Yeah for me!!

It was funny because Pam Morgan was standing right by our table with the prizes and I said “Pick Me! Pick Me!” and then they popped up the list.  I started reading the list and before I got to the bottom my friend Linda – says “it’s you Monika” – and sure enough I was the last name on the list!  But Pam had walked away and didn’t see me. Like all good demonstrators I had to jump up and down and yell and wave and she finally came back!  What fun!  I won the French Foliage stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog.  It was one that I liked but haven’t bought yet.  But now I don’t have to.

Here are a few more pictures from the regional.

Stephanie and me

Stephanie came with me and we had a wonderful girls weekend.  It was so nice of Stampin’ Up! to have a regional close to her house (well close enough to drive) and at the time that I normally go visit for some girl time.

Linda and Betty

We shared our table with my friend Linda – she is also from Georgia and we met on the plane flying to convention this summer.  And Linda met Betty in Baltimore so she sat with us too.  We also had Tina and Roz join us at our table but I didn’t get a picture of them.  Roz came as Tina’s guest and we were trying to get her to join as a demonstrator so they would get the new Eat Chocolate stamp set.  She didn’t join that day but maybe she has changed her mind since then.

Here is a picture of me with Shannon West.  We decided we did a good job coordinating our outfits!  Shannon always wears the cutest skirts to all the Stampin’ Up! events and this summer I found a skirt while we were on vacation.  I had to laugh the first time I wore it – apparently I haven’t worn a skirt/dress in a long time – going to the bathroom was a whole different game if you know what I mean……

The regional was so much fun!  If you have the opportunity to attend one you should.  We saw several presentations from the SU staff and all 6 Workshop Wows from other Demonstrators.  I’ll be sharing some of the techniques we learned over the next couple of months.

Let’s play Bingo…..

New Stamp Set for New Demonstrators

Is it just me or does it seem that when you go away for a few days everything changes?  Somehow my wordpress blog – not the part you see but the part that I see is different.  Then I tried to check on an e-vite invitation and I keep getting this error to sign in to the new evite and I can’t get to the invitation.  Even the airport seemed different when I went this time – I must have gone to a new section or something, the security was different and even the terminal was different – and I was just there in July.  But I didn’t have any security issues this time – yeah – and I took all my stuff carry on (but no scissors) – I did travel with a bottle of Crystal Effects and I wondered if they would question that but they didn’t.  Anyway enough of my rambling…..

I have a special offer for anyone that wants to join my Stampin’ Up! team!  You have to act quickly to take advantage of this great opportunity.  As a result of my attending the Baltimore Regional I get to offer my new recruits the chance to get a brand new stamp set that won’t be available until 2011.  If you sign up as a demonstrator you will receive the new stamp set EAT CHOCOLATE!  You have to sign up by October 17th!   Just imagine a stamp set all about Chocolate!  Yummy!  Here are some samples using the Eat Chocolate stamp set that I took pictures of while I was at the regional.

And not only that but the Craft Tote special is still going on too -you will get both of these in addition to all that is in the Starter Kit!

You will be all set to share your love of Stamping with your friends and family – a cute tote to carry all the items from your starter kit and the new Eat Chocolate stamp set.

Do you have questions?  Just contact me and I’ll be glad to answer them for you.  You can sign up online directly through my Stampin’ Up! Website – CLICK HERE.

I would be so excited to have you join my team!

How is Bingo going for everyone?  I was told I need to mix up the pieces better – someone out there doesn’t have any of the ones I have called so far – how can that be?  I’ll try to get a good shuffle this time.

So here we go….
