On the Trail – Scrapbook layout

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout from last month’s class.  This was actually a layout I made at least a year or more ago – but I updated it to use the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper and colors and changed the accent pieces, stamp sets, etc.  So it looks completely different.

 On-The-Trail-left On-the-trail-right

The left page has the pockets with the tags that pull out for hidden journaling or extra photos.  You could add more if you needed.

I doodled around the edges with a chocolate chip marker and did alot of sponging.  The stamp set is Lovely as a Tree – it is good for so many things.  I plan to add my hiking pictures from our fall break mini vacation to Red Top Mtn.

It looks like the rain followed me from Georgia to Virginia.  But it is cold here and I didn’t bring that along – it was at least warm at home.  Time to go to the craft room and start stamping!

Have a great day!

School Years Scrapbook Class

Kyle is my oldest son and this year he is a senior in high school!  I have always kept “stuff” for all three boys since they started school – I just didn’t always do a good job of keeping it organized. So much of it is in boxes, or drawers.  I started a year or two ago to try organizing it more so I could work on “School Years” Scrapbooks for each of them.  I have a box with folders for all three boys for each year of school.  As I came across stuff I started filing it in the appropriate folder.  But I never completed all the organizing of my stuff and now Kyle is a senior and I NEED to get this scrapbook done before he graduates.  I want to have it ready so when we have a graduation party everyone can look and see how he changed through the years and we can see what all he accomplished.  This would have been so good to keep up with along the way.  Now I’m not totally behind – I did work on a few years here and there – so I have a start and actually decided to create the same basic page for each of the boys – so all of them would have the same design for 1st grade – but not necessarily the same layout of pictures and stuff on the page.

So then a friend of mine asked me if I could help her create a scrapbook for her son who is also a senior.  I asked her what she wanted and it sounded very much like what I was planning to do.  LIGHTBULB moment!  I need to create a class and invite everyone to join me and we can all make our books together over the next few months.  It will keep me working and help everyone else at the same time.  I actually had someone ask me this same sort of thing last year – but it was right before graduation and there wasn’t time to do much – so we made her a little 6×6 album that just featured her daughter’s senior year.

Here is my plan –

SCHOOL YEARS ALBUM CLASS SERIES

In this series of classes you will create a scrapbook with pages from Kindergarten through Senior Year in High School.

For each school year your layout will incorporate a pocket to keep report cards or certificates.  We will be using all Stampin’ Up! products in these classes although we may use some retired stamp sets for some of our layouts.

This class will meet once a month from November 2009 through March 2010.  In April 2010 you will have a completed scrapbook ready to showcase your child at his/her graduation.

If you don’t have a child close to graduating you can still take this class and have pages ready to fill with pictures and important information as they complete their school years. (I wish I had been that prepared!)  You also have the option of completing only the classes that you need.

Here is an outline of the class:

October and throughout the series – gather photos, certificates, and information you may want to include in your scrapbook.  These items should cover the school years from Kindergarten through Senior Year.  I would suggest getting some folders and using those to help you separate everything.  Sign up for the classes you wish to take.  We won’t actually meet this month.

November 8, 2009 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and begin our scrapbook – working on the front page, Kindergarten and 1st Grade layouts.

December 13, 2009 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 4th Grade layouts.

January 10, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 5th Grade, 6th Grade and 7th Grade layouts.

February 7, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 8th Grade, 9th Grade and 10th Grade layouts.

March 14, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 11th Grade, 12th Grade and Graduation layouts.

April 18, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet to finish up anything you need help with and show off our completed scrapbooks!

Class Fee: Each meeting Nov – Mar. is a $30 fee prepaid at least 2 weeks before the class.  There is no cost for April as we won’t be creating new pages.  You can choose which classes you need and don’t need to attend them all – some of you probably have some pages done already.  If you attend/pay for the full series – 5 classes Nov – Mar – you will receive a $20 gift certificate at the end of the series that can be used for any of my future classes.

You may additionally purchase a 12×12 linen album and page protectors from me – for $35 you will get a 12″ x 12″ linen ring album and 15 page protectors – color choices are Natural, Moss, Red, or Navy.  You will need to supply your own Snail Adhesive and refills at each class – I can order these for you also.  Also plan to bring paper snips.  All other consumable supplies and stamps, ink and tools I will provide at the class.

I’m looking forward to this and being able to showcase my child when he graduates high school in the spring.

Please email me to reserve your spot in this class – [email protected].

Another Scrapbook Page

Just a quick post since I have a million things to do and not enough time to do them.

Here is a quick share of a scrapbook page that my sister-in-law made for me – it is the same layout as the one my niece (her daughter) created that I posted a couple of weeks ago.

steph-scrapbook-pageThe picture is my boys and I at the beach this summer.  We always watch the families that go down to the beach and wear their pretty white shirts and khaki’s so this year we thought we would try to do the same.  Except that Kyle didn’t bring a white shirt – so he borrowed one from my nephew that had a logo on it – so he is standing behind me so I’m covering the logo.  The same thing with Greg (although he isn’t in this picture) – he borrowed a shirt from my brother-in-law and then we stood one of the kids in front of him to cover the logo on that shirt.  The things we do sometimes to have everything the way we want it.

The layout uses the Baja Breeze In-color from last year and Chocolate Chip as the two main colors, the  Retired Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Paper and an assortment of buttons and ribbons.

I love it!

Thanks for checking in today.

September Scrapbook Class

When: Wednesday, September 30th

Time: 6:30 pm

Come join me for my monthly scrapbook class.

We will be making two 2-page 12×12 spreads at this scrapbook class. You will be able to take your pages home and add your pictures.

This month’s pages include a sport themed layout – mine is created using the Just Soccer stamp set, I also have Just Tennis and an old sport set with a variety of choices.

If you want to bring your own set for a specific sport that is fine too or let me know ahead and I can try to borrow one for baseball or football.

This layout can be used to showcase your child playing a sport or for pictures of you and your family attending a game or event.

The second layout using the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog – I have it designed as an outdoor layout for hiking pictures, but it could be used for other things too.

Please bring scissors (paper snips) and adhesive, all other supplies will be provided.

Class fee is $20 and you will receive $10 off with a $50 product order.

Since this is going out late please let me know no later than Tuesday afternoon (9/29) if you plan to come so I can cut your kit.

I hope you can join me – we always have a great time!

My next scrapbook class will be October 21st.  This is a week early – I’m trading weeks with my hands on class so I can attend the Stampin’ Up! Regional Seminar on the 23rd.
