It’s another Tuesday here in Georgia and school is out! This is not normal for us! Maybe they get 2 or 3 days out of school each year. Perhaps once maybe twice have they had more than that since Kyle started school (he is 22 now)! And this year it seems they have missed a ton – I think we are on day 6 or 7 – and they are out tomorrow and possibly on Thursday. It’s Ryan’s senior year and it seems he is hardly been to school the last few months. And guess what – next week they have Winter Break! Are you kidding – somehow the snow days and the breaks need to line up better.
Today is a little sad for me – Kyle is on his way to San Francisco right now – it’s the first day of the next chapter in his life. He will be staying in his own apartment tonight and starting his first real job next week. Is he really an adult now?

When we arrived at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference there was a new surprise for us (well they always have surprises for us). This year we were having Paper Pumpkin Craft Wars!
The details from Stampin’ Up!:
We’re going to put your crafting skills to the test! Paper Pumpkin kits are great on their own,
but what happens when you mix the exclusive stamps with brand new occasions catalog products? Well, that’s what we want you to show us! At the end of the weekend, 20 winners will be selected and each will receive two free past Paper Pumpkin kits and exclusive bragging rights. Plus, the winning projects will be highlighted on the Stampin’ Up corporate blog after leadership! Enter to compete by signing up at the Paper Pumpkin booth.
So of course I signed up (and signed up my roomies Linda and Diane too). We went Friday afternoon to make our creations. We had about 15 minutes. And this is what I came up with –
So do you want to know some of the details –
The card base was Crumb Cake (we could choose that or Whisper White).
I used a piece of Whisper White for some stamping – I used the stamps from the July Paper Pumpkin Kit – it was the one with the birthday cake banners. There were 3 background stamps in the kit so I stamped one in each color – Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, and Tangerine Tango.
I punched two flowers from each stamped image using the new Petite Petals Punch. I ran a marker along the edge of each flower.
I looked all around for a paper piercer – no luck – we didn’t have one of those to use. So I had to make do with what I had – a paper of paper snips – I folded my flowers in half and cut a tiny slit – then pushed through a piece of the new Gold Baker’s Twine through each pair of flowers – I tied a knot in the front. And also tied at knot at each long end.
I added the flowers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I tied all the flower “stems” together with another piece of the Gold Baker’s Twine.
My stamped greeting is from the June Paper Pumpkin Kit – it was the one with the Hexagon cards.
At the last minute I decided to add a few of the gold sequins from the Occasions Catalog. Tricky part was getting them to stick – snail and itty bitty bits of Stampin’ Dimensionals was what I ended up using.
Stampin’ Up! picked 20 winners from all the entries. I don’t know how many there were but I would assume a few hundred. As I understand it they will have a corporate blog post featuring all the winning cards. So look for that on Stampinup.com.
And speaking of Paper Pumpkin – we got to see a sneak peak of the upcoming kits and they were really good! You are going to want them and if you have opted out lately you may want to opt in to get February and March kits – just sayin’.
If you haven’t previously joined Paper Pumpkin there is a special for new memberships – join between now and February 10, 2014 and you will get a free pack of 2012-2014 In-color Markers with your welcome kit!

I created this project a few months ago using the October Paper Pumpkin Kit.
Paper Pumpkin Index Card Organizer Box – Monika Davis
The October 2013 Paper Pumpkin Kit had three stamps – TO DO, NOTES and ALL OUT OF – with a Gumball Green Ink spot and then the project pieces to make the Memo Roll. I find myself using Index Cards for many things and decided this would be the perfect thing to use these stamps for. I designed a box to fit 4×6 index cards. I used the Envelope Punch Board to help with the box and the divider cards.
Here is a photo with a few notes on the box –
You start with an 8-1/2″ square piece of card stock.
On one side score at 1-1/8″ and 7-3/5″
On the opposite side score at 4″ and 5″, cut tabs to fold up the box
on the shorter side use the Envelope Punch Board to make the notch – line up each side at the 2-1/8″ score line on the Envelope Punch Board and punch, then cut away the in between piece.
I also corner rounded on the corners – see photo.
assemble the box
decorate
If you want to stamp on the index cards for each section – I used Gumball Green, Calypso Coral and Basic Gray. I keep it on my desk and use the index cards for a variety of things/lists.
I enjoyed creating this fun project with the Paper Pumpkin stamps. We made this in my Stamper’s Club back in November. I hope you like it!
Q&AQ: I keep hearing about Paper Pumpkin. What is it?A: The simple answer is that it’s a paper crafting kit you receive in the mail each month. The truth is that it’s more. It’s a little piece of fairytale magic delivered to your door to give you a creative escape in the midst of your everyday busy and chaotic life! (If that makes me your fairy godmother, I guess I’m good with that!)
What’s included in the Paper Pumpkin kits?
Part of the magic is the mystery and surprise! You’ll never know exactly what you’ll receive.
The projects could be cards, décor, gifts, mini albums, and more. It’s different every month!
The first kit will include cards, a clear block to use with clear stamps, clear stamps, embellishments, ink, and simple instructions.
You’ll save the clear block to use with the stamps included in future kits.
Future kits will include your pre-designed, pre-cut project pieces and instructions, plus any stamps, inks, or embellishments used in the project.
You only need basic tools like scissors and adhesive! (Plus the clear block from your first kit.)
Keep your inks and stamps from the kits to use on your own projects.

Paper Pumpkin is only $19.95 each month and that includes the shipping cost!
Your credit card will be billed once your kit ships, usually on or about the 10th of each month.

I’m home – actually got home Sunday evening. After a full week of creative fun with friends from all over the country my body is exhausted and my brain is full of new inspiration and ideas. I spent Monday doing not much – it was actually my anniversary – 24 years – and I made an anniversary card for Greg – I really love how it turned out. He brought roses home for me – just not because he remembered our anniversary 🙁 – but just because he loves me :). We went out to a nice dinner and that was all we did for our anniversary. Now to plan the 25th and a trip to Alaska – that is the plan anyway – now that I know when Convention is – well at least what week it will be – I can plan that trip for next summer. Look at the beautiful roses –
And here is the Anniversary Card that I made for Greg –
Here are some quick notes about this card –
Cherry Cobbler for the card base
A piece of Marina Mist Designer paper from the Polka Dot Parade pack (don’t forget there is sale this month on designer paper)
The arrow strip is from the Modern Medley Designer Paper pack – I cut out just a strip of the arrows and then colored in between the arrows with Stampin’ Write Markers – Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler
A strip of Silver Glimmer paper
A circle of Very Vanilla punched with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch, stamped and pierced – first stamp “Love you” from Seasonal Sayings stamp set in Marina Mist on Very Vanilla card stock – punch out; stamp again in Cherry Cobbler and cut out the “you” into a banner; and punch out the little heart with the little circle in the Cupcake Builder punch; use the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Pierce Mat, and Paper Piercing tool to pierce the circle.
Stamp “Seriously” in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla card stock – the stamp is from one of the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits (there are some great stamps in these kits and a sign up special right now too – ask me about it); cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelit label and the Big Shot – line up on one side – cut and then line up the other side to make the shorter label when you cut a second time.
Attach everything to the card base – designer papers, glitter paper – flat with adhesive, the circle with dimensionals and the punched/cut pieces with dimensionals
Finish the card by adding the little heart clip (or an arrow which is current) tied with some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.
Greg didn’t remember it was our anniversary until he read the card which says – happy anniversary on the inside – but he did bring me flowers.
Happy Stamping! I’ll be sharing convention pictures and more so be sure to come back again!
