Tea Party

tea-party-flower-card

Hi everyone!

It is a rainy Saturday in Georgia.  It seems we have had alot of rainy days but it is a really good thing because our lakes are so low from the lack of rain last year.  My parents and my brother all live up on Lake Lanier and it still needs lots of water to get to normal water levels.  So rain is good for the lakes, but bad for tennis matches and soccer games.  Luckily Ryan played his tennis match early – yesterday afternoon – he lost 8 games to 1 against a boy that was 13 years old and 6 feet tall!  Greg’s tennis was cancelled and Ryan’s soccer game is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

I wanted to share this card with you.  It was the last project that we made at the STARZ meeting last weekend.  I really like this style of a card – especially to use it for invitations.  It is like a pocket and you pull out the inside panel where you can have all of your information.  This particular one is a thank you card.  The colors used here are Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Almost Amethyst.  The Designer Paper is called Tea Party.  The stamped flower is from Petal Pizzazz – but we ran the white cardstock through the Big Shot with a Texture plate first and then stamped the flower – which gives it a totally different look.  You may also notice a new accessory on there too.  Coming April 1st the new Occasions Mini includes new Designer Hardware – the center of the flower is a Basic Jumbo Grommet.  These will come in an assortment with Basic Black, Silver, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White.  The ribbon is the new Whisper White Organza Ribbon in the main catalog.

Enjoy your weekend!

Big Shot Easter Basket

easter-egg-basket

This is another project that we made at the STARZ meeting on Saturday.  It is a little Easter Basket made from the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Envelope die for the Big Shot.  You need to cut four envelopes and then attach them side by side.  We used the new Egg Hunt Wheel and watercolored it with an Aquapainter.  The ribbon is from the Sale-A-Bration Ribbon Bundle.  And the paper is the Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper also from Sale-A-Bration.  The Designer Paper was also cut with the Scallop Envelope die but only the flaps to add an extra layer and then trimmed along the inside edge of the basket.   The handle is just a piece of card stock with a piece of ribbon attached to it.  These would be cute for Easter – fill with some grass and some eggs or other candy and use for center pieces.  Or maybe leave off the handle and set a flower inside.  I usually have flowers as my table center pieces at Easter and then afterwards I plant them in the back yard.  I have seen a variety of ideas this year that I really like and I’m still trying to decide what I want to do.  I also make invitations each year to invite our family over for lunch and an egg hunt on Easter Sunday.  We normally have about 30 people over that day and always hope that the weather is nice.   I need to work on my invitations so I can get them in the mail.

I’m headed to the craft room to prep for the Game Night class tomorrow and work on projects for my March class on the 20th.

Today is another beautiful day here in Georgia.  But they say the rain and cold will be back by this weekend.  Ryan has a tennis match to play and I’m not sure the weather will be holding out for him though.

Have a wonderful day!

Treat Yourself Box

treat-boxSaturday night was the STARZ group meeting.  Wendy Randall is our wonderful leader and holds a meeting for her group every other month.  I have my group meeting the opposite month – my group is named PAWS – which stands for Play Alot With Stamps.  There is an awesome recruit special right now and I would love to have you as part of my team so contact me today if you would like to learn more.  There is information on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – including some videos you can watch.  And click here to read more details about the recruiting special.

At the STARZ meeting Wendy had four great projects for us to make.  So after a little bit of business learning we got to stamping.  Just to let you know when Stampin’ Up! demonstrators get together we normally take some time to stamp no matter where we might be.  Here is one of the projects and it would have been much cuter if I had paid more attention to which color ink I picked up – but really that is the way I wanted it to be – there are no mistakes in stamping – I meant to do that and it still looks cute.

This little box uses the Big Shot and the Bag w/ Scallops die and also the Texture Plates.  First we cut out our bag and then added the texture.  Before assembling we applied some ink with a direct-to-paper technique to the textured dots and added stitching with the white gel pen.  Make sure to use Sticky Strip to assemble the box so it all stays together.  On the lid we added a scallop circle punch and then the cupcake accent is from the new stamp set Wagon Full of Fun – it will be in the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog but is available to order now.  We stamped with StazOn ink on Watercolor paper and used the Aqua Painter and classic ink to color it in.  The closure is a couple of clear Rhinestone brads and some linen thread.  These would make cute little party treats – just fill with a bit of candy and your ready to go!

Have a wonderful day and Treat Yourself to something good today!

Happy Stamping,

Monika

Our snow has turned to mostly rain now so no pictures to share.  Many places around us have snow on the ground just not here at our house.  The temperature is getting close to freezing though so we will likely end up with lots of ice by morning since it has been raining here since Friday morning.  By the way the soccer tournament that Ryan was supposed to play in this weekend – thankfully was cancelled!  They said it was the first time in the 19 year history of this tournament that they had to cancel.  It would have been miserable for the kids to play this weekend.

Stay warm and dry!
