Stampin’ Up! is going to be doing a Color Revamp this year. It’s been 8 years since we made a significant change to our core colors. Color trends are change over time and we want to keep our color offering fresh, new, and relevant.
What does that mean? Let’s take a look.
Colors will be updated in the 2018-2019 annual catalog. This will start on June 1, 2018.
the In Color program will remain the same – with 5 colors rotating in each year and staying for 2 years
keeping 27 of our existing core colors
13 core colors are going away
5 In Colors (2016-2018) are going away
5 new In Colors are being introduced – the 2018-2020 In Colors
adding 10 brand new core colors
adding 6 returning In Colors that will now be core colors
our color offering will expand from 50 to 53 colors
we rearranged the color families a bit
I’m excited about the changes and the new colors. The majority of the retiring colors were not any that I was using. I can’t wait to get my hands on the new ones!
I received these color swatches at the CenterStage event last weekend so here are all the colors in a pretty rainbow swirl!
Be sure to order any ink refills, card stock and accessories in the retiring colors before they are gone for good. You can shop in my online store – HERE.
Sometimes when I’m out shopping I come across little bags and think I have to have those because they would be cute for something. I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do with them but figure at some point in time I will find a good use for them. A few months back I found these little silver mini bags and bought a stack of them., I ended up using them for my Demo Getaway Retreat at the end of July.
I decided to use the new In-Colors to decorate them. I used the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon and tied it in a bow around the handle. Then made a tag in the same color to hang on the handle.
I used two new punches – Starbust punch and the Pretty Label punch. I stamped on the Pretty Label – “we are cut out to be friends” – from the stamp set Crafting Forever. I also stamped the paper snips on Smoky Slate card stock and cut those out to add on the tag. I finished each tag with a little silver enamel heart and tied it on the bag with Whisper White Baker’s Twine. I thought they turned out so cute.
Inside each bag was a ruler, a pencil sharpener, an eraser, a sheet of dimensionals and mini dimensionals and a Stampin’ Sponge. A few little crafting essentials that I like to always have near by.
It was a really fun weekend event and I can’t wait to do it again.
Here is a cute In-Color Book Mark – perfect for marking a spot in your new catalog, or a book or anything else you may need a book mark for. Those that attended my Catalog Kickoff event earlier this month got to make one to take home.
This year Stampin’ Up! created the book mark template for us. I printed them off on Whisper White card stock and cut into 2″ strips. Each one was punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.
For each In-color I punched a piece of card stock with the Classic Label Punch. Did you know that you can use that punch to create the little flag ends? Punch the classic label and then stick it back in from the side to punch each end again into a flag.
Do that for each of the In-Colors and attach with adhesive on to the bookmark in the appropriate spot.
Then I used the Tabs for Everything stamp set – I stamped the outline images in Memento Black ink. I used a long block to put all 4 images on at once, ink them and stamp on a strip.
Then I used the coordinating fill image to fill in with the In-Colors. The thumbs up doesn’t have an outline so it was just stamped by itself on the strip. Each one was punched out with the 3/4″ circle punch. Then attach with adhesive on top of the corresponding color strip.
To finish the top I added a piece of the 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon (Fresh Fig color) that was tied with a small piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine.
I sure do wish I was a good writer. But I’m not. I often sit with my fingers on the keys just waiting to think of something to write. So these blog posts are not always easy. And I certainly don’t ever have catchy titles like others do. My title is usually just the fact of what my project is about. So I hope I don’t bore you. Perhaps you don’t read any of the words any way and just come for the pictures!
Today’s card uses the Wood Words stamp set and the new Tranquil Tide In-Color.
For this one I decided to use Very Vanilla with the Tranquil Tide and I also used the new Very Vanilla Solid Baker’s Twine. Have I told you how much I love all the new ribbons. I do! And my plan is to make a video and show them all to you. I think you can see them better that way than you can just looking at them in the catalog. Hoping to do that this week. Sorry – I got off topic.
For this card I also stamped on the inside –
I just added a Very Vanilla layer and stamped the corner with the flowers. We made this card in one of my private card classes and it will also be an option at this month’s Card Maker’s class on Friday. I’ll have 2 color choices – the Tranquil Tide shown here and also Fresh Fig. Both look nice with the Very Vanilla.
If you are local to me come on Friday to Card Maker’s Class – I have class at 10 am and again at 7 am. CLICK HERE for my class calendar on my website – you can read the details of each class and RSVP for the one you’d like to attend.
Have you ever heard some in the crafting world say they CASEd something? Did you wonder what it meant?
Here in the Stampin’ Up! World we have a definition for the word CASE which means Copy And Share Everything. So I guess that really makes it an acronym. In our world we often see ideas and copy them – often with some changes but not necessarily. Sometimes you change the colors, or the stamp set or the orientation. Or switch the shapes of elements or any number of other things. I went through our new catalog one day and marked a bunch of ideas that I thought would be good CASE cards. And then I’ll use those as ideas or starting points for cards I’ll be using in my classes. This card today was one of those ideas.
I used this card in my team meeting last month to showcase some of our new In-Colors. There are 3 of the new In-colors on here along with 2 other colors from our collections. I cased a card out of the catalog. Can you guess which one?
It is on page 40 – on of the cards in the Pick a Pattern Suite samples. I followed the layout and kept the elements basically but used different colors, different stamp set and card stock instead of designer paper.
This card also shows the comparison of the card stock colors so from left to right:
The stamp set I used is the new Label Me Pretty set. I used two punches – 1-3/4″ Circle and Classic Label. And I added a little Berry Burst bow! This card comes together pretty quickly.
Thanks for stopping in today! I’m finishing up prep work for my Catalog Kickoff and BOGO sale on Saturday so I may not get another chance to post here until after that is over. If you are local to me I hope you will stop by – visit my calendar for details HERE.
I made another video! Really I did. I know they aren’t great but I’m working on it. I’m a slow talker so hopefully that helps you follow along. Today I have a video sharing a little trick that I did on this card that uses the Feathery Friends Hostess stamp set from the new catalog.
I created this card for a swap I was in and then also taught my Stamper’s Club how to make it. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers for coloring the flower including most of the new In-Colors – Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist.
The trick comes in how I added the Black Baker’s Twine. So watch the video so you can see how I did that.
I hope you like this little card as much as I do. And you can earn the stamp set free when you host a party or place an order that qualifies for Stampin’ Rewards.
