Ribbon Shares

I did two ribbon shares in June and thought I would share how cute the packages turned out.  This is the In-Color Ribbon with a sample of the matching Dahlia’s.  I cut a piece of cardboard – from the back of the designer paper packs.  Stamped each end, wrapped the ribbon, added the dahlia’s and then put the whole thing in a clear envelope.

And here is the other one – the new 1/4″ stitched ribbon.  I punched card stock in the same color as the ribbon with the Round Tab punch.  I put all 10 colors in a tall cello bag.  I cut Basic Gray card stock with the Apothecary Framelit – folded it in half over the top of the bag and stapled it.  I punched a Daffodil Delight Blossom Punch, snipped the petals, added a piece of Designer Paper punched with the Boho Blossom Punch and put them together with a silver brad and added it to the top.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Frog Talk Z-Card

Last month in my Hands-On class I featured the 5 new Stampin’ Up! In-colors.  This was one of the cards that we made – it features the new Gumball Green with one of our new stamp sets – Animal Talk.  The frog was perfect for the Gumball Green and this z-fold card idea seemed to suit the jumping frog too.  My friend Cindy brought a swap card with a z-fold to my last demonstrator meeting so I adapted that idea for this card.  Make a regular card, score it like normal, then score the front of the card again and fold it back.  Then add the focal point image to the folded front.

Something else new on this card is the large scallop edge that I cut using one of our new Edgelits and the Big Shot and then I used our new Piercing Template (and the mat and piercer) to pierce along the large scallops.

I had the whole card finished and then got a little smudge of green ink on it – ugh!  Now what – I found the solution!  Get out my Color Spritzer and the Gumball Green Stampin’ Write marker and spritz on the card.  That was perfect and actually suited this card well anyway.  I also decorated the envelope.  But when I stamped it I got just the top edge of some of the letters – another ugh moment!  So I put on my thinking cap again and realized I could use my marker and make more lines to create “grass” for the hopping frog.  Another perfect solution!

Some of the finishing touches is the Linen Thread tied around the card front.  And the little frog is actually stamped a second time on a scrap of white, cut out and then popped up with a bit of Stampin’ Dimensional on the original one.  The dimension looks good in real life – it’s hard to tell that its there in the photo.

So that just goes to show you that once you get your creative mind going you can fix your own mistakes and turn up with a cute card. I hope you like it!

Have a good weekend!

Betsy’s Blossom

Today is my In-Color Class – we are making 5 projects featuring the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors – Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple.   The morning class was lots of fun and I’m looking forward to my second class later this evening.  I haven’t had a chance to photograph any of the projects yet.  But I am showing you another In-Color themed card that I made earlier this week for a different class.

This card uses the Raspberry Ripple card stock base and then a layer of Whisper White.  The main stamp set is Betsy’s Blossom and the words are from Petite Pairs.  I used Gumball Green for the branch; Midnight Muse for the bird – which is cut out and popped up on a dimensional; Raspberry Ripple for the words; and Primrose Petals for the little flowers.  I finished the card with a piece of the new stitched ribbon.  Over all it was a quick card.

I’ll share the actual projects from my class next week.  I’m having fun playing with the new In-Colors – and right now my favorite is still the Summer Starfruit and second the Midnight Muse.  What are you favorites?

I’ll probably offer the class as a To-Go class option – I’ll write up instructions and get the projects photographed.  I’ll decide before the weekend ends if it makes sense to do that.  And post the details if it does.

I also wanted to let you know that Stampin’ Up! has announced the Artisan Design Team finalists on their Facebook page.  And while I did submit and entry I was not selected as a finalist.  I do know some of the finalists or know their work and they are talented ladies so I’m sure the entries must have been amazing!!  I can’t wait to see them.  I’m hoping they show all the entries at convention but we’ll have to see if they do.  When I entered a couple of years ago they did have all but one of my projects on display – so I’ll be on the look out for them.

Thank you to Sue and Denean for their orders.  Every order helps me get closer no matter what size it is.  Thank you guys! Since the race for the Artisan Contest is over now I have to keep pushing to earn this incentive trip – I need about 20 more people to place $55 orders and I have about 8 days left – yikes!  Read more here.  Thank you to everyone that is helping – this will be an amazing accomplishment for me.  I love you guys!

Yeah the weekend is here!  And tomorrow we’ll be playing with MDS again for our MDS club – I can’t wait.

Using a Sketch

I do like to use sketches to create a card or scrapbook page.  Recently I made a card using one of the sketches from Create with Connie & Mary – it is an older one from a few weeks ago.  The card I ended up with looks like this

I used the new In-Color Primrose Petals for the base, then a layer of Chocolate Chip – I cut it with the Scallop Edgelit and embosses it with the matching Accent Folder – actually I did the embossing part first and then cut – that is easier for me to get it lined up.  You can’t see it real well in the photo but I used the set Creative Elements to stamp in the background behind the flower.

The flower is cut from the Floral District Designer paper – I used the Fun Flowers Bigz Die and the Big Shot for the largest petals, the smaller petals are the blossom punch – 3 layers and then I snipped in between the little scallops on the petals.  In the center is one of the new Naturals Designer Buttons – they look like wood – I threaded some Linen Thread through the holes.  And tied some around the card layer – I love my Linen thread.

Finally I added a tag – stamp set Four Frames and Teeny Tiny Wishes – punches with the Decorative Label punch.

here is what the sketch looked like –

A sketch is a good place to start when you are creating – it maps out where to place your elements.  Then you play around with your design, your stamp sets, your papers and punches until you get something in the end that you are happy with.

I have more people to thank for placing orders – Debbie, Sherrie, Alicia, Candis, and Pam.  Every order helps me get closer no matter what size it is.  Thank you guys!  I speeding along to 55 orders –  Read more here.

Today was an animal kind of day – I came home from exercising and found a turtle in the road right near the house.  I didn’t want him to get run over so I went out to get him and move him on across the street.  Well he was not happy about that – did you know turtles make a hissing sound?  I moved him anyway so a car wouldn’t run him over. Then I keep hearing banging on the window – and Aspen hears it to and goes and barks – its a bluebird – I’m wondering if he is trying to get bugs from the spider webs that are in the corner of the windows – there are lots of them – I guess I need to do something about that but spraying them with a hose doesn’t really get them to come off.  Then I began to wonder if the bluebirds built another nest in the bird house – so I decided to check. Sure enough they built a nest while we were gone on vacation and when I checked this morning – guess what – there are 3 eggs inside!  I don’t think I have had a nest this late before – spring is over and summer is here now.  Oh and one more thing – there were a bunch of robins in the yard today – and I noticed a little moth flitting about – the moth landed on the fern near one of the robins – the robins popped up and snatched it and had a yummy breakfast.  Poor moth.  Anyway those are my animal stories for today.

Have a great day!

Keep it Simple with the new In-Colors

This simple card idea came directly from the Stampin’ Success magazine that Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators receive each month.  The magazine was “re-designed” this year and has lots of great articles in it and creative ideas.

While getting ready for my last demo meeting I needed one more M&T project.  Cindy was at my house and we were trying to come up with ideas – both of us remembered this card in the Stampin’ Success magazine.  And since I wanted  to feature the new In-Colors at the meeting we decided this card would work perfectly for that.  The card in the magazine used different colors and used Designer paper instead of the little stamped images.  We let everyone choose which stamp set to use – I used Itty Bitty Bits for mine and stamped the little butterfly and punched it out.  Others used Circle Circus and choose one of the images and punched those out.  We had the Friendly Phrases stamp set out and I used the Petite Pairs for this card.

I also used this card as a M&T at my Open House that I had at the beginning of the month for the new catalog.  And if you need to know what the new colors are – Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse.

A quick thank you to Pat for helping me with my 55 orders.  Read more here.  My thermometer is rising! Yeah!

Have a great day!

Summer Starfruit

Thanks for hearing my plea!  I wanted to update you that I have 2 of my 55 orders and 3 more people that said they would be placing orders in the coming days.   I’ll keep you updated and if you’d like to help me out that would be so greatly appreciated!

Summer Starfruit is one of the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors.  And I’ve featured it on this card –

I think it is such a different color not like anything we already have in our color families.  I used the Comfort Cafe Designer Series paper on this card so that helped decide the rest of the colors – Soft Suede, Midnight Muse, Pool Party and Very Vanilla.  The card “sketch” was one I saw recently on another blog.  The stamp sets I used are Betsy’s Blossom – that’s the bird, and Itty Bitty Banners with the new Itty Bitty Framelits.  I’m going to have to look up all these names – I know they are close but I haven’t learned the names for all the new things yet.

Thanks so much – have a good day!
