Have you seen this little idea to use the 1″ x 8″ cello bags as a wreath?
This is my version. I’ve seen several versions floating around. I decided to put mine on a card stock circle so that it could also be used as a gift tag. The card stock is Lucky Limeade, stamped with an image from Punch Pals stamp set, and then punched with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch. You can’t see it but I punched a hole in the top with the crop-a-dile and then pulled a piece of the Whisper White Taffeta ribbon through it. The 1″ x8″ cello bag is filled with red and green skittles candies – I put about 15 in the bag – you don’t want it very full or you won’t be able to curve it around into a circle. I’m not sure how everyone else did theirs but what I did was put the candies in and then I took the closed end and curved it around and stuck it inside the open end of the bag and then took the adhesive seal and sealed it to the bag to i had a circle. I tied the ribbon around so that it was over where the two ends of the bag cross each other. I tied a bow with my ribbon.
The tag is another stamp from Punch Pals – punched with the Word Window – pierce a hole in the end and add baker’s twine and tie it around the bow. leave tails if you want to tie it onto a package or trim the off if you are just giving it as a treat.
We will be making these in my Hands-on Class today and I also gave them to my friends at Pokeeno on Wed. night. Have a fun day today!
Here is the Christmas Countdown Activity –
Dec. 16th – Deliver Neighbor Gifts – I have several posts from my gift making class that would make good neighbor gifts.
Dec. 17th – Make treats for your pets – I have some recipes that came from the kennel – I’ll need to try them out and let you. I caught Magnolia peeking in the shopping bags today trying to find her Christmas present – she knew exactly which bag came from the pet store.

This card idea was based on a card that was shown on stage at Convention when Stampin’ Up! introduced the Holiday Mini catalog to us. I have two versions of the card – one was the first one I made – the simple version.
The card base is Cherry Cobbler. The front has a strip of Wild Wasabi and on either end a strip of Whisper White with a scalloped edge. I also stamped the Merry Christmas greeting on there – it is from the Many Merry Messages stamp set. I stamped one of the stockings from Stitched Stockings on Whisper White card stock using Wild Wasabi ink and punched it out with the Stocking Builder punch. I used my paper piercer to poke a tiny hole to one side of the stocking and threaded a piece of the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding through and tied on one of the mini jingle bells. I love those little jingle bells.
But then I go a few more items from the Holiday Mini catalog and decided that I wanted to “step up” my card just a little bit. So here is version two –
The first thing I added was the embossing on the top portion of the Wild Wasabi piece – Snow Burst Textured Embossing Folder is what I used. Then I switched out the border punch. Finally I punched out the stocking pieces from the Silver Glimmer Paper. Added those pieces to the stamped/punched stocking to give it just a little bling. Looking at it now I should have added a rhinestone to the center of the little snowflake.
Here is the activity for the day –
Dec. 14th – Visit Santa Claus and take pictures. As a mom you always remember taking your babies to see Santa and them screaming their heads off – I think Kyle was the worst of my three. He screamed when he saw Santa, he screamed when he saw the Easter Bunny, he even screamed at the doctors office the second they called his name – we weren’t even in the office yet. Tyler on the other hand would get a shot and not even shed a tear. They were at each end of the spectrum and Ryan always fell somewhere in between. And gosh now Kyle is 20, Tyler 18, and Ryan 15 – where did the time go.
and let me go ahead and post the next one too –
Dec. 15th – Stamp Christmas cards and mail them. I have some stamped cards and some that I made in My Digital Studio – most of those are going to our family since it includes pictures and memories of what we did all year. I’ll be posting it on my blog some time soon. Connie at the post office that I use said next Monday will be the busiest day for mailing but she has been busy all this week too.
One more thing to mention – mostly for me to keep track and I won’t do this every day. Today is Day 1 of radiation for Greg’s mom. And now there are 32 more to go. Tomorrow we go again.

Do you need some quick cards for Christmas? Then the Winter Wishes Stitched Felt might just be the answer for you. Look at this cute card idea I found on Pinterest – the card was created by Jen Sannes. This is my version of her card –

I didn’t get pictures of the others but my Stamp Club made these at our meeting the other night and everyone had a different piece of the felt accents. The package has the mittens, a snowflake, a wreath and some holly. A quick easy accent to add on a card, tag, or scrapbook page. You can find them in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog.
I realized I forgot to put yesterday’s activity in my post – oops. So here are a couple more and I’ll try to stay on top of it.
Dec. 11 – Watch Classic Christmas Shows – I caught the end of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and I always like the Charlie Brown ones too.
Dec. 12 – Visit someone who could use some Christmas Cheer – maybe someone that can’t get out by themselves, visit the senior center – the scouts used to do that when my boys were younger.
and here is one more for tomorrow –
Dec. 13 – Make Hot Chocolate – Ryan has been making hot chocolate every night – I guess I better add that to my shopping list. Since I don’t drink coffee – if I drink something hot in the morning it is hot chocolate.
Have a good day!

Dec 7, 2011 | Big Shot, Christmas, Fabric, Holiday Mini catalog 2011 |
I have another cute holiday idea for you. This was designed by Laree and she brought these to swap at our last demonstrator meeting.
She used the Holly Berry Bouquet designer fabric and the Holiday Stocking Bigz die to make this cute little stocking. Both are in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog. The Big Shot works great for cutting the fabric. There is a little trim on the cuff using the crochet ribbon. And then Laree made a flower out of the wide striped ribbon – a shabby vintage style flower with frayed ends. And then there is a button in the center. The hanger is made from ribbon and inside she had little treats.
It is a cute stocking don’t you think!
Here are a couple more daily activities for you to do with your family:
Dec. 6th – Watch Christmas Movies -what is your favorite? Elf or Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, there are many more. check your Family channel on the TV to see what’s playing each day.
Dec. 7th – See the Nutcracker Ballet – we took the boys to the FOX theater in Atlanta quite a few years ago to see the Nutcracker. I’m not sure they’ll go with me now that they are teenagers but I may try to do this instead – Celebrate the holidays with a timeless classic as NCM Fathom, the New York City Ballet and Lincoln Center present George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ LIVE in movie theaters nationwide for a special One Night Event on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:00pm ET/5:00pm CT/7:30pm MT/7:30pm PT.
Have fun with whatever you decide to do!

For my project I chose a Christmas Countdown project. It was something I had in mind as soon as I saw the 25 & Counting Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog. It’s my favorite mini ever!! (But I am partial to it since my picture is in the US version) And if you get creative you can use this set for more than Christmas – I cut apart the words/numbers and use them on birthday cards too – it doesn’t work for every stamp but it works for a lot of them.
Now back to my project –
It doesn’t look like much in the picture but the box holds 25 countdown cards and on each card is a peek-a-boo frame – when you open the frame underneath is an activity for you to do that day! Make the whole month fun for the kids. I created three sheets of activities – 36 total and you can choose the 25 that suit your family or make up your own.
Here is a peek at one of the cards –

Nov 29, 2011 | Big Shot, Cards, Christmas, Designer Series Paper, Holiday Mini catalog 2011 |
Hi Everyone!
Here is a quick Christmas card for you. I got the idea from Connie Babbert (at least I’m pretty sure that is where it came from). I know I made some modifications but I can’t find the original one I saw so I’m not sure what I changed and what I left the same.
I used the Pines & Poinsettias stamp set and Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty Designer Series paper from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.
I also used two new embossing folders from the regular catalog – the Designer Frames and the Stripes.
There is some Satin Real Red ribbon and that’s about it.
Colors are Real Red, Early Espresso and Wild Wasabi.
There is some fun coming up at the end of the week a Ustamp with Dawn & Friends Blog Hop. So check back later in the week for that.
And there are only two days left for the Online Extravaganza Sale – visit my website and online store to see what is on sale. Sale ends Nov. 30th!
Also my Card Maker’s Club class is on Wednesday – that’s tomorrow – let me know if you would like to come.
Have a great day!
