Today is the last day

Today is the last day of the Holiday Catalog and the last day you can order the To You & Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit.  It always surprises me how much better the kits are in person compared to how they look in the catalog.  This one looked like it would be fun and I ordered it and then let it sit a while.  When I finally got it out to make some of the cards I was surprised by how much was included and how fun they were.  They really turned out to be cute cards.  Now I had to alter mine slightly.  Why?  Well I ordered the Kit which includes all the consumable products but I didn’t order the coordinating stamp set.  So I got creative with what I already had at home in order to complete the three card designs in the kit.

Here are what mine look like.  Can you see the differences compared to the photos on page 4 of the catalog?

shaker-cards E

Here is what I used from the Holiday catalog:

  • To You & Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit pg. 4
  • Peaceful Pines pg. 17
  • Holly Jolly Greetings pg. 34
  • Acorn Builder Punch pg. 45
  • Six Sayings pg. 51 – Hostess stamp set

I basically used stamp sets that I already had instead of buying another one and then finished with some punched pieces to fill in where I was missing something.  Here are a few more details:

On the Tree card:

  • I used the Peaceful Pines stamp set for the tree and the Six Sayings stamp set for the greeting.
  • The star at the top is the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I used the left over edges of the gold foil from the Star card.
  • The base of the tree is the Cupcake Builder Punch – I used a scrap of Early Espresso card stock and then cut the punched piece down a little bit so it was shorter.
  • You can also decorate your envelope with the left over green tree piece from the frame.

On the Star card:

  • I used the little stars from Holly Jolly Greetings for the background and corners.  But there are other sets that have something similar you could use.
  • Save the gold foil scraps from around the star and use to punch the pieces for the other cards.
  • Use the left over gold star piece to decorate your envelope.

On the Ornament card:

  • I used the little stars from Holly Jolly Greetings for the background.
  • For the ornament string I used my Project Life Journaling Pen.
  • For the ornament top I punched from the left over Gold Foil the acorn top from the Acorn Builder Punch.

You could order this kit now and work on your cards for next year early!

Use your Holiday paper for Birthday Cards

Continuing the countdown….3 more days to order from the Holiday Catalog.  The Designer Papers have been very popular this year.  At convention we learned how the designers at Stampin’ Up! create the papers.  Many are original hand painted or drawn designs.  Now that the holidays are over you don’t have to stop using the pretty paper.  Many of the patterns are general enough that they can be used for other things like Birthday cards!  Any print that isn’t holiday specific would work.  And often when one side is holiday specific the other side is not.  Here are a couple of ideas for you.

into-the-woods-birthday E

These are the Holiday catalog items I used on this card:

  • Into the Woods Designer Series Paper pg. 43 (On Sale)
  • Into the Woods 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon pg. 43 (On Sale)

And here is another:

Season-of-Cheer-birthday E

This one used the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper.  Unfortunately this paper is already sold out.  The ribbon on this card is Hello Honey 3/8″ Satin Stitched Ribbon is part of the Year End Sale.

Take a look at your Designer Papers and see if you can make a stack of birthday or thank you cards from something that you thought was just for Halloween, Fall or Christmas.

Here is a video from Stampin’ Up! showing you how some of the Holiday paper were created.  If you here a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator say DSP that stands for Designer Series Paper.

The two cards were the same I just switched the Designer Paper and ribbon and used matching card stock.  These are supplies for the Into the Woods version:

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I’m still counting down the last few days of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  Only 4 more days.  Today I have two cards to share with you – one a Christmas card but the other is a New Year’s card.  It’s actually the exact same card – all I did was change the words.

Here it is as a Christmas card (I actually made the New Year’s version first but want to use the same card for a different group and switched to Christmas for them).

Only 5 more days of the Holiday Catalog

Here is a quick card using some Holiday catalog products:

simple-Christmas-card E

There is really only one Holiday catalog product on this card and it’s the Home for Christmas Designer Paper.  So many prints in the pack where the images made great focal points.  The poinsettias, the reindeer, the trees, the Santa’s. You could use any of those as the focal point on this design – either by just cutting with the circle dies (or punch) or fussy cutting the image and adding to the circle.

Sadly I just checked and this paper pack has already sold out!  Darn it. You could use the Reason for the Season stamp set and create a similar card to this.

Here is the full supply list for this card – click on an item to go to my online store.  Don’t miss the Year End sale.

The rest of my Christmas Countdown

While we are counting down the days to the end of the Holiday Catalog – I don’t think I shared the rest of my Christmas Countdown that I made with the Hello December Project Life Accessory Pack.  There are 6 days left to order from the Holiday Catalog – and you could order the Hello December Project Life Kit and complete this project for next December!

hello-day-25 E

The days counted from Dec. 1 – Dec. 25.

See this post for the cover and days 1 – 6 – HERE.

And this one for days 7 – 13 – HERE.

Below are days 14 – 25 in a slide show.
