Ally sings Aurora

I have  My Digital Studio page to share with you today –

This is my niece, Ally.  She was singing for us one night over the holidays while we were at the beach.  The song she is singing is called Aurora – some of the words are journaled around the edge of the page.  The song is from another girl – middle school age – that is a family friend of my brother and she created the song as a science project for school and has it on itunes.  My niece loves this song and the little girl.  I was trying to find the song on the internet and came across this – http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/local_news/Student-Sings-for-School-Science-Project-20120109-gda-sd – the local news did a story on the girl this week.

I did take some video of my niece singing the song – while it isn’t very good and she is only 4 – it is still really cute -one problem is that I took the video sideways and I can’t figure out how to turn it.  The first video is Ally singing  by herself all happy and silly and the second one has the itunes version playing with Ally singing but then she gets real quiet and hides – well it turns out she gets sad when she hears the song because she wants to see the girl that sings it.

Ok – well that didn’t work – I thought I could attach the videos here for you to see but it isn’t working.  sorry.

I’m working on leadership swaps and some blog posts so that I can start showing you my cards and have stuff to post next week while I am in Texas.  I can’t wait to see all my friends and have some girl time.

A Quick MDS page

Hi all – just sharing a quick MDS page using the Downtown Grunge Digital Kit.  I just used one of the pages in the album – added my pictures and some journaling and then it was done.  It takes longer to decided on the pictures and crop them than anything else when you use a template from one of the kits.

My Digital Studio 2011 Christmas Card

I wanted to share with you the 2011 Christmas Card that I made to send to our family.  I created this in My Digital Studio after seeing a blog post on Mydigitalstudio.net about the Tri-Fold cards.  I really liked how it was all laid out with both a spot for a family photo and then a page for photos of the kids and then on the back a place to write.  In past years I would write a letter, print it out, fold it up and stick it inside our Christmas cards.  But with My Digital Studio the letter part can become part of the card instead of being an insert.  So that is what I decided to do for our family – I printed 35 of these – mailed out 34 and kept 1.

This is the card folded it up and it doesn’t look like much.  This is the smaller size of the the tri-fold choices – I have to go back and look for sure but I think the other one was either bigger or it was just turned to be portrait orientation.  It looks like a really small card but then when you unfold it you get this….

In the center panel I had a picture of our whole family and then the third panel has individual pictures of the boys plus a little note from us.

But there is more – turn it over to the back and you get this –

That is where my “letter” came in.  I used two panels to write all of our 2011 memorable moments.

I sent hand-stamped cards to everyone else on my list.  I still have a few more to get out.  But so far I have used 80 stamps!  I bought 2 packs of the Christmas stamps and used all those.  Went to the store to get more this morning and they were out of Christmas ones so the rest of my card have regular stamps.  I’ll finish up tomorrow with everyone on my list.

I hope everyone likes the MDS card and the hand-stamped cards.

Here is today’s Christmas activity –

Dec. 22 – Attend a Christmas Concert – I knew I had this one in the bunch.  We already did this earlier though – I should have planned my days out better when making the countdown project.  We went to the Etowah High School Band Concert.  Ryan is in the percussion section – his section of the band played three songs – he played crash cymbals on one song, the wooden block on one and jingle bells on one.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  we got word from Stampin’ Up! that the Stocking builder punch that is in the Holiday Mini catalog will be discontinued – so if you had your eye on that punch you better order it now.  The Holiday Mini catalog end on Jan. 3rd but I don’t know how much stock they have left and there will not be any more once they run out.   And remember the Clearance Rack sale – there are some great deals on other punches – current shapes but the older body style.  And a steal on the GoGo Boots Alphabet Sizzlets die set – I use this a lot for scrapbooking titles.

UDI Color Challenge #62

Hi all – I hope you are having a productive week leading up to Thanksgiving – is everything ready?  Do you have the turkey, the ham?  We have both.  I have more little turkey milk cartons to make – one for each of the kids although the kids are really kids any more they are becoming adults.  Yesterday was Kyle’s 20th birthday!  I can’t believe I have a 20 year old!  Where did the time go?  Since I needed a card for Kyle for his birthday I used this weeks color challenge for his card.   Here is the inspiration picture –

I thought these colors were good for a masculine card even though the inspiration photo isn’t.  I am working on another project that uses the Peek-a-Boo die for the Big Shot so I had that on my craft table and decided to play with it for this card too.  After playing around with it quite a bit I finally came up with this –

This is the front – I made owls using the owl punch and set them on each of the peek-a-boo windows – each one says “got birthday?” – and when you open the windows you get –

one cupcake and then two cupcakes with candles –

And then on the inside of the card – it’s better than the outside –

This time the peek-a-boo window reveals the best part of the birthday –

The gift card (or cash) – I created a pocket under the window – used the word window punch to make the opening for the gift card – or fold up some case and slide it in there.  So that is the card that Kyle got for his birthday.

My Digital Studio Scrapbook Pages

Since we are celebrating Digital Scrapbooking day I decided to create a couple of quick digital scrapbook pages this morning.  The best way to make quick pages is to use one of the Designer Templates.  So that was what I did and they were both done in just a few minutes – it took longer to find the photos than anything else.

This template came with the Sun Garden Designer Paper Digital Download.  It is a 12×12 scrapbook page.  I added photos that we took this summer at the Stampin’ Up! Convention.  Michele, Dawn, Cindy and I were roommates and on the last night we had some fun with our camera – using the auto shoot function.  We all piled into one bed and found different places to set the camera trying to get pictures of the four of us.  We had fun making silly faces and laughing.  I can’t wait for the next Stampin’ Up! event which is the Leadership Conference in January.  Michele will be my room mate again and this time Becky and Diane will be with us.

I made very few changes to the template – I added my pictures, and the text at the bottom.  I moved a few of the elements just to get them off the pictures a little bit more but that was pretty much it.

And this other page is also a template – it is the Sunset Serenade Digital Kit – another 12×12 scrapbook page.  I added the stamp “So Grateful” which is from the So Typefelt stamp brush set that you can get free this weekend at the Mydigitalstudio.net site.  I also moved the text box that was in that spot up on top of my large photo and added the word Family.  A few of the elements were moved to get them off the pictures and that was pretty much it.  I left the rest of the template alone.  I think the pictures work well with the colors in this template page.

These pictures are from this summer when we went to the beach with Greg’s family.  That’s Greg’s mom in the white dress.  And then the photo with Greg, his mom, sister and brother.  Then the large family photo includes the spouses and kids.  All of us dressed to match on the beach.  And we are all grateful to have some time together.  We will all be together again at Thanksgiving.  We have plans to be with my family during Christmas – I can’t wait to get pictures of all of us too.

A few minutes, no mess to clean up and my two scrapbook pages are done.  And now I can do some cleaning up , laundry and get dinner ready.  Both Kyle and Tyler are home this weekend and I’ve got BBQ chicken in the crock pot.  I plan to try a new recipe for some garlic cheese biscuits and later tonight we’ll have a fire outside before the boys go back to college.  Have a nice rest of your weekend.  I keep thinking it is only Saturday but I guess it really is Sunday.

Happy Birthday Tyler!

Today my Tyler is 18 years old!  Happy Birthday Tyler!  Everyone was home this weekend and we ate dinner at the Kani house Sunday night and then came home for cake (we didn’t eat much of it though because we were stuffed from dinner).  Afterwards Greg took Kyle back to GT and Tyler went back to KSU.

Today I wanted to share the card I made for Tyler for his birthday.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do exactly.  I decided to look for some sketch ideas and ended up with the sketch at Create with Connie & Mary.  I pulled some scraps that were sitting on my craft table from a card I made last week for my KSU class and created this:

And here is the CCMC164 sketch

My card is turned.   The base is Cajun Craze and then I have a Not Quite Navy panel.  A strip of Designer Series Paper from the Well Worn collection (works great for boys), and a piece of River Rock card stock punched with the Scallop Ribbon Border punch.  Then I wrapped Linen Thread around.

I used the Bring on the Cake stamp set for the happy birthday. Then did you notice the “eighteen” on the side.  That comes from a new stamp set called 25 and Counting – it is a Christmas set that will be out in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog on Sept. 1st.  It is stamped in Cajun Craze ink on River Rock card stock and then cut out by hand.

Finally I added two Cajun Craze brads on the side.

I thought it made a nice teen boy card.  I hope you like it.  Thanks for stopping by today.
