Hello my stamping friends. It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – Broadway Star (June 2018) and an added bonus it coordinates with the Broadway Bound Suite in the Annual Catalog.
This months kit is bright and bold and full of star power! The kit includes supplies to make 8 cards to celebrate a birthday, graduation or other event.
For my first alternate idea I made a very simple change to the card base and turned it into a triangle box. You aren’t going to believe how simple this was to make and I only used supplies in the kit. Well I did use black ink instead of the Lovely Lipstick from the kit but that was it.
Triangle Treat Box
I used the black and white striped card base and added two additional score lines half way between the center score line and the edge of the card on either side – that’s 2-1/8″ from each side. Then fold on all three score lines and overlap the two end sections and you have a triangle box. The ends are open so just slide in a treat. I’ll confess that I actually made my box and then took it to the store to find a treat to go inside. I came up with four different treats that fit but I’m sure there are more.

For my second alternate idea I decided to make a card to go with my triangle box.
Congrats Card
Since I stuck with the black, white and gold I wanted to basically do the same thing on my card. To make the banner piece I used some of the paper from the coordinating Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper. I took some left over pieces of the gold sticker sheet from my kit and cut enough of a scrap to add to the stamped piece of cake. Gold cake anyone? I stamped multiple times with the CONGRATS stamp to create the background piece.

Happy Wednesday! I’m continuing to share ideas using the Rooted In Nature Bundle. Let’s take a look at today’s card – it’s the first one I made with this bundle. It was actually the card that we made at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in April. The event was so much fun and we got our first look at the brand new catalog and a chance to play with some of the products. This card features a couple of the accessories that are part of the whole Nature’s Poem Suite of products. The Leaves Trinkets and the Nature’s Twine. The Leaves Trinkets are metallic leaves in both copper and silver that can be added to your creations – I used mini glue dots to add them to this card. Your going to love these trinkets so be sure to place a qualifying order (minimum order of $30 in products) this week and I’ll mail you a sample – use hostess code ETSM4PDT by June 30, 2018.
One of the colors included in the pack of Nature’s Twine is the Mint Macaron used on this card – additional colors are Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, and Grapefruit Grove. It seems like I’ve used some designs from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series paper on every card so far. On July 1st we will be starting a Designer Paper Sale and this one will be included! Tucked behind the stamped sentiment are stamped and die cut leaves, and the Leaves Trinkets.

I have another card to share today that uses the Rooted In Nature Bundle. Everyone that attended my Stampin’ Up! Catalog Kickoff event had the chance to make this card.
This card uses two more designs from the Nature’s Poem Designer Series paper. I cut Crumb Cake card stock with the 3-leaves die in the Nature’s Roots Framelits die set. There are also embossing dies in this set. For this card you want to cut the card stock first and then run it through the Big Shot with the Embossing dies. It creates a beautiful texture on the leaves. If you emboss first and then cut it will flatten out some of the embossed lines – at times you may want that look.

This week I’m planning to share ideas using the Rooted In Nature Bundle, it’s become one of my favorites. It’s part of the Nature’s Poem Suite of products in the new annual catalog. The Bundle includes the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies. I’ve been using this stamp set a lot this month. I think you are going to love this bundle and how it will work for so many occasions including masculine cards which are always a struggle. It also pairs with well with the long time favorite set Lovely as a Tree – I’ve had that set longer than I’ve been a demonstrator!
The Nature’s Poem Designer Series paper has a variety of patterns and prints and used two of them on this card. I used two of the main colors from the paper – Tranquil Tide and Soft Suede. The tree ring behind the words is actually stamped in Crumb Cake and it’s stamped “off” – which means you ink it up and then stamp it first on scratch paper before stamping it on the card stock which creates a lighter version. I wanted it to be light for this card so I could stamp the words on top and they would stand out. Use your Paper Snips to fussy cut the tree ring for this card – it’s easy to cut out by hand.

I made this card for my dad for Father’s day. It would work for other occasions too – just leave off the World’s Best Father stamp or change it to something else. Itty Bitty greetings as a variety of phrases that could be used – happy birthday would be an easy substitution. The Share What You Love Suite of products was introduced back in May as an early release special from the new catalog. At that time there were three bundle options – but now you can purchase the pieces individually. One of the most popular pieces was the Designer Series Paper. It’s a specialty paper with a pearlized finish on 4 of the designs. This paper has handpainted designs on heavyweight sheets and its a double sized pack with 4 each of 6 double-sided designs. You can make a lot of beautiful projects with this paper.
This card features one of the pearlized designs along with the Love What You Do stamp set. The flowers were stamped next to the sentiment and then I used Stampin’ Blends to color them in so they would match the paper. Currently we only have the colors that were released at the beginning of the year. I used the light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends which is similar to some of the shading in the paper but not an exact match. The new colors should be available soon – we are just waiting on them to arrive in the warehouse.

Did you know Stampin’ Up! has kits? We have three kinds of kits – All-Inclusive Kits, Projects Kits, and Paper Pumpkin Kits. Here is a quick look at the difference.
- All-Inclusive Kits – these include everything you need to complete the project and often have refills available for the consumable pieces and parts. They have the stamp set, a clear block, ink, instructions and all the pieces. Just add your favorite basic adhesive.
- Project Kits – these kits include all the consumable supplies and often teach a technique or include a specialty project. The stamps and inks are sold separately and these are fun to gather with friends and have a private class.
- Paper Pumpkin Kits – this is our monthly subscription kit – its a surprise creative kit delivered to your door each month.
The designing for these kits is already done – you just have to put them together – follow the directions exactly or get creative on your own with the elements provided. It’s totally up to you. Today I’m going to show you the Lot of Happy Card Kit.

This all-inclusive card kit creates all occasion cards. You’ll use watercolor pencils for coloring in the images. I also used a Blender Pen for blending the colors together. That’s not included in the kit but can be purchased along with the kit in my online store. You can also get refills to make an additional 20 cards. Once you finish the kit you’ll still have the stamp set, ink, clear block, and watercolor pencils. You may even have left over die cut pieces and dimensionals (I did). Now you just need to add some card stock from your stash and make more cards. Here is another card that I made.
