Sweet Summer Butterfly

Today is the last day of Sale-A-Bration.  Don’t miss out on the free stamps you can get.  Today I have one more card – ok actually two cards to show you that use the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Sweet Summer.  This card was designed by Stampin’ Up! and I used these last couple of weeks in some of my workshops and classes.  I created two different versions of the card.  And last night the girls actually made one of each size which was kind of fun.  I think we had such a good time last night stamping and chatting we didn’t realize what time it was – I ended up getting home about midnight.

The card on the left is a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card and the one on the right is 5-1/2″ tall and 4-1/4″ wide.  Both use the same supplies the only difference is the top is cut off to make one a square.  Sometimes you just need a square project and this size card will fit in the medium size envelope and is really a nice size.

The card base is Peach Parfait.  You know what this color reminds me of?  My bedroom at my parents house – yes my bedroom was painted peach.  That room isn’t that color anymore and now its my dad’s office but at one point in time it was peach.  I used the background stamp En Francais stamped in Peach Parfait ink.  And I have no idea what the stamp says but it looks pretty.  If you have trouble getting a good impression across this whole stamp what I do is ink up the stamp and lay it on the table on top of my grid paper, then carefully place my card stock on it, then fold the grid paper over it so you can rub across the whole thing and get the ink evenly on your entire piece of card stock.  Lift the paper up and the card stock off carefully.  It works well every time.

In the center is a strip of Old Olive that was stamped with the little stems/leaves image from Sweet Summer.  On each side is a piece of Melon Mambo that was punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. (Sometimes I call this the ribbon border because I forget the full name – it’s such a long name).

Then use the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die and cut the larger full butterfly from the First Edition Specialty Paper and the smaller full butterfly from Melon Mambo card stock.  Stamp the tiny bunch of flowers image in Melon Mambo ink on the Melon Mambo butterfly.  Stamp the open flower image in Peach Parfait on the First Edition butterfly.  Layer them together and tie Linen Thread around the center.  Add a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock punched with the Jewelry Tag punch and stamped with “friends” from Tiny Tags.  Tie it off in a bow or knot.  Add the butterflies to the front of the card.

You can get this Sweet Summer stamp set free if you place a $50 order today.  You won’t be able to buy these sets afterwards so get them while you can.  Let’s see this is what will be gone after tomorrow – So Happy for You, Punch Bunch, Sweet Summer and Bliss stamp sets, Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack and Designer Paper and Quick Accents pack, the So Much To Sale-A-Brate Digital Content CD (a must have if you own My Digital Studio), and the Notes Chalkboard Decor Elements.  Click HERE to go to my website and then click on SHOP NOW.

Baby Side-Step Card

I saw the cutest baby cards created by Jackie Topa and just had to try it for myself.  It is called a side-step card and was not nearly as hard to make as I was expecting it to be.  Probably because Jackie made an awesome video showing exactly how to do it.  Go to her blog here to see the video and her cards.

This is my version which is pretty much like hers.

The base is Crumb Cake but it would be cute in White or Vanilla for a little girl.  I was trying to make it look generic but it ended up kind of boyish looking.  I love the Jumbo Wheel with all the Onesies  (not sure how to spell that nor do I remember the exact name of that wheel).  Anyway we wheeled out about three of those and colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers.  I also used the Every Little Bit stamp set for the rubber duck and teddy bear.  I’m sure there are several other stamp sets (the All in the Family accessories sets) that have other images you could add.  Isn’t it cute though?  If you visit Jackie’s blog she has measurements and details so I’m not going to include those here.

Spring Bingo isn’t over just yet.  So far I have found 3 winners and I am looking for 2 more.  So lets keep playing – here is the next piece –

Now isn’t that appropriate to have a bird – I promise that is the one I drew out of the basket – really.  It goes right along with my bird post from this morning.  I’m going to take the next two people that email me with Bingo.  Tonight I’m going out to Smyrna for a card club and tomorrow morning I’ll be having a Stamp & Chat get together with a few of my direct downline.  I wanted us to still have the chance to get together in a small group so that’s what I’m starting tomorrow.  That’s all for now!

Don’t forget it’s your last chance to order for Sale-A-Bration and get free sets!  They are all fun and I probably have some more projects to post but I haven’t taken pictures of them yet.  Order online or send me an email – tomorrow is the last day!

Color Challenge – Utah Diva’s #29

Sorry I missed last week’s color challenge.  But I’m back for this week. Here is the inspiration piece we had for this week.

Click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog.   There you can see the creations from the entire design team and add a link to your creation if you decide to play along.  Our colors this week were More Mustard, Rich Razzleberry, Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride.  And here is my card creation for this week –

This week I actually used the inspiration piece and the colors to come up with my project.  When I saw the pillow in the photo the first thing that popped into my mind was the Cute by the Inch stamp set.  I decided to recreate the design of the pillow on a card.  When I was done I decided it needed something so I added the Rhinestones to the center of each square.  You can’t really tell but I tried coloring them with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  The darker colors do have a tinge of the color on them.  Then it was still not right so I added the Crumb Cake Seam Binding and thought it was the right touch.

I hope you’ll visit the UDI site and play along with us this week.

Sweet Summer meets Ice Cream buttons

I saw the cutest card on Heather Summers blog and knew I had to make something like it.  I decided to use it as one of my projects for the Towne Lake Card club that met Thursday night.

The card base is Daffodil Delight and then a layer of Old Olive card stock.  At the bottom edge is a strip of Daffodil Delight that was punched with the Ribbon border punch.  I decided to use the Ice Cream Parlor buttons which are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pacific Point.  The Designer paper is from two packs – the Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight are from the Sew Suite Designer Series paper.  The Pacific Point is from the Blueberry Crisp Designer Series paper.  The stamp set for the flower stems is the Sweet Summer Sale-A-Bration set – the stems are stamped in Old Olive and then watercolor the leaves with an Aqua-painter and Old Olive ink.

This is a bright cheery fun card.  We added a greeting on the inside from the So Happy for You stamp set.  We are in the last week of Sale-A-Bration and after it ends these fun stamp sets and products will be gone.  So hurry and place a $50 product order so you can get one free.  Choose from So Happy for You stamp set, Punch Bunch stamp set, Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents pack, Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack, So Much to Sale-A-Brate Digital Content CD, Sweet Summer stamp set, Notes Chalkboard Decor Elements, Bliss stamp set or one of many stamp sets from the Idea Book & Catalog.  So many fun choices!

You can also join Stampin’ Up! by becoming a demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration and get 15% off your Starter Kit.  Plus, get a bonus bundle filled with over $50 in free products.  It’s a great offer!  Contact me today if you want to learn more.

There’s another Spring Bingo Winner!  The second winner is Yvonne.  Congratulations!

Yvonne wins the So Cute stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog.

That’s two winners found and three more to go – will the next one be you?  Check your cards every day.  Here is the next piece.

Have a fun weekend! Tonight is the prom for the boys high school and Tyler is going with one of his friend Afton.  I took Kyle back to GA Tech earlier today and then picked up the flowers for the prom.  Unfortunately it is a rainy day in Georgia and any prom pictures we take of them will have to be indoors.

Sneak Peek – Strength & Hope

It won’t be long before a new Stampin’ Up! mini catalog is out.  Demonstrators had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of a new stamp set from the upcoming Summer Mini catalog.  The set is called Strength & Hope and is a special stamp set.  Why?

Stampin’ Up! is donating $2 from the purchase of each Strength & Hope stamp set to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  You’ll be able to purchase this set beginning May 1st, 2011.  In the meantime here is a sneak peek of a card that I made for my swap at my PAWS downline meeting earlier this month.

The colors I used are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, and Baja Breeze.  The scallop circle is Natural White with lots of sponging and spritzing.  It’s a beautiful stamp set.

We are still playing Spring Bingo – I’ve had one winner and I’m planning to play until we have 5 total winners.  So here is the next piece –

Good Luck!

Vintage Bliss in Concord Crush

I have a variety of blogs that I get email updates on – some update daily and others update on a different schedule.  I like to read the posts and see the creative ideas of so many talented women.  Sometimes I file away ideas so that I can use them in the future.  Today’s card is one that I used at a recent card club meeting and will be using again next week for another group.  This card was designed by Dawn Olechefski – you can see her’s HERE.

The base is Concord Crush card stock and stamped with the large flourish image.  Then layered with a piece of the Concord Crush Patterns DSP.  Next there is a layer of Naturals White card stock.  On the top is Whisper White stamped with the large flourish – but not just plain stamped – It is actually Rock & Rolled.

So this is what I did for this card – first ink the image in Concord Crush and stamp it off on scratch paper – to lighten it.  Then roll the edges around in the ink pad again – darkening the edges.  This will create a lighter inking in the center and a darker inking on the edges.  The butterfly image is stamped in the center and then stamped again on another piece and cut out.

Some of the Crochet Ribbon is tied in a knot and added to the corner.  Slide a vintage safety pin (from the trinkets collection) through the ribbon with a little tag.  Finish the butterfly with some of the clear Rhinestones.

On the inside of the card I added a matching panel.

So I am sure that I copied Dawn’s card exactly but when I look at her blog post the card is different.  So maybe there is another blog out there with this card on it too.  Or I am imagining things – hmmmm.

I’m really enjoying this stamp set.  If you love it too and haven’t gotten it yet you better hurry.  It is one of the Stampin’ up! Sale-A-Bration sets and will only be available through the end of March – and guess what?  You can get it free by placing a $50 product order.  You can order online through my website or email me with an order.

Ok here are the next two pieces for Monika’s Spring Bingo –
