May 8, 2018 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards |
I thought I would try something new – it’s going to be a Try it Tuesday post on Tuesdays. Today I’m sharing with you another way to use your clear blocks. They are made to mount photopolymer and clear-mount rubber stamps on but they are useful for some other things too. For this little trick today we are using the edge of the block as a stamp to create parallel lines on your card. Here is a look at the finished card –

The lines on the Crumb Cake strip in the background were made with my H block. Stampin’ Up! blocks have these nice grooved sides that make lines when you put them in your ink pad. You can even make plaid patterns by turning the block in one direction and then the other direction.

I used the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set for this card. The stamp set is currently part of a bundle with the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies. The individual items are staying in the new catalog but the bundle is retiring.
Supply List
- Beautiful Bouquet stamp set
- Crumb Cake card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Stitched Shapes Framelits dies
- H clear block – for the striped background technique
- Classic Ink – Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Crushed Curry
- Stampin’ Write Marker – Pumpkin Pie
- Linen Thread
- Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
Now you need to go try it yourself. See what kind of striped backgrounds you can make with your clear blocks.

Thanks for visiting today.

May 7, 2018 | #mailacardmonday, 2018 Occasions Catalog, Birthday, Cards, Designer Series Paper |
Every Monday so far this year I have mailed out cards. I challenged myself to send out at least one card every Monday for the entire year. So far so good. And I think it’s been more than one card every time – many times I have 7 or 8 going out. I thought I’d share with you one of the cards that I’m mailing out today.

I used the Cake Soiree Suite of products for this card. The stamp set and the dies will carry over into the new catalog but not as a bundle. So if you order them before the end of May you can still get the bundle price. The Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper is going to retire. It’s been a popular paper with all the pretty silver foil accents.
Supply List
- Cake Soiree Bundle – stamp set and Sweet Cake Framelits Dies (bundle is retiring)
- Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper (retiring)
- Whisper White Thick card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Daffodil Delight card stock
- Silver Embossing Powder
- Versa Mark ink
- Silver Foil
- Silver Thread
- Vellum card stock
- Classic Label punch
- 2″ Circle punch
- Stampin’ Write Markers – So Saffron, Old Olive, Powder Pink, Berry Burst
- Big Shot die cutting machine
You can shop online for Retired items in my store. Use the May Hostess Code – EJB9FJAP.
Thanks for visiting me today. I hope you had the chance to get some cards in the mail. Be sure to share a photo of your cards or you mailing your cards and use #mailacardmonday when you post on social media. Share what you love!

Have you noticed the Birthday Wit stamp set in the Occasions catalog? It’s on page 9. Since its basically all words it doesn’t stand out very well. It is a fun set to have to make some birthday cards.

For this card I used the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. It has gold foil accents. And painted brushstroke patterns. Some of the patterns are a bit bright for me so on this card I used the large sentiment from the Birthday Wit stamp set. I actually stamped it multiple times in a variety of colors – Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, Powder Pink and Rich Razzleberry. The main panel on the card was stamped with Soft Suede ink. and then I cut out all the block words and covered them with the colored words. This is another one of those short front cards where you can see the designer paper on both side. I used the White cotton ribbon on this one. And finished with some Gold Metallic dots.
I think it turned out to be a fun card!
There are only 3 more weeks of Sale-A-Bration left – if you haven’t placed an order to get your free product choices be sure to do it soon. There are some great options and once they are gone – they are gone. Now there are two things that will carry over into our new catalog – the Celebrate You Thinlits and the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. But they won’t be free you’ll have to pay for them then and the coordinating stamp sets won’t be available after March 31st.
Thanks for stopping by.

Feb 21, 2018 | 2018 Occasions Catalog, Birthday, Cards, Designer Series Paper |
Yesterday I shared a fun card idea that featured both sides of a piece of designer series paper. Well like I said I had made several different ones and today I’m sharing another one with you. This one featured products from the Picture Perfect Birthday Suite.

The Picture Perfect Party 6×6 Designer Series Paper is such a fun little stack of paper. One side of each piece is a photo and the other side is a graphic pattern. It was fun to use this card idea with these papers. And with all the different designs there were lots of options for what could be on the front of your card. I used candles for this one, but there are balloons, party hats, donuts, party blowers and more.
Here is a supply list and measurements:
- Bermuda Bay card stock – 5-1/2″ x 5-3/4″, scored at 4-1/4″
- Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper – 5-1/2″ x 3″
- Whisper White card stock – 5-1/4″ x 4″ (for the inside)
- Whisper White card stock – 1/2″ strip
- 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon Silver
- Classic Ink – Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Peekaboo Peach
- Tear & Tape
- Tutti-frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins
This time I have photos of the inside of the card too. When you open it you get to see the back of the paper so the inside is fun too!
I hope you like this fun idea as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by today.
