Summer Smooches Birthday Card

I need to get on the stick and create some more with the Summer Smooches bundle of products. One of the perks of being a demonstrator is getting to pre-order products before they become available for sale to everyone.  So I was able to order the Summer Smooches bundle last month.  And I actually got the stamp set back in January – it was the gift we got at the Manager’s Reception at the Leadership conference.  But I haven’t played a lot with all my stuff so I really need to do that.  Here is one card that I created –

The idea for this card was based on a card that another demonstrator created (I need to figure out who and where I saw it).  I did make some changes – if I remember correctly – I added a Lucky Limeade card base (I believe the original card I saw was white).  I added texture to the largest oval shape – Oh by the way the three ovals that you see that is a Big Shot Die – did you know we had one that has 3 ovals on it?  I forget about it sometimes.  The smallest oval I added for the sentiment – I used the Sincere Salutations stamp set – it’s an old one – I have it from before I was a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator – so it’s been around for a while – I wonder if it will make it into the new catalog or if it is going to be on the retired list.  We’ll know in a few days. I also added the Real Red ribbon – I don’t think the original card I saw had any ribbon.

I used my Clear Blocks and mounted both vases on one block together.  Then used my Stampin’ Write markers to color them and stamp on the medium oval.  I stamped the flowers on extra white left from cutting the ovals and cut those out and popped them up.  Other than the cutting out part this is a quick card.

One more thing to note – Stampin’ Up! has updated the Clearance Rack – so head on over to my online store on my website and see what’s there.  Good deals that usually disappear fast.  I think they are making room for all the new things coming soon in our new catalog – June 1st!

Have a great rest of your day!

My Digital Studio – Happy Birthday

I’ve been trying to post a My Digital Studio project on Mondays – so it could be My Digital Studio Monday – but today is Tuesday and I realized that Stampin’ Up! is releasing new My Digital Studio downloads every Tuesday so maybe I should be posting them every Tuesday instead along with a reminder of the new downloads.

The page above has an old picture from 2002 when Kyle had his 11th birthday – that was 10 years ago and yes this year he will turn 21 – OMG!  Am I really old enough to have a 21 year old – apparently so……

The digital elements on the page are from the Piece of Cake – Sale-A-Bration CD.  The stars in the background are from Extreme Elements.

And since it’s Tuesday Stampin’ Up! has released some new downloads –

You can see the downloads each week on my website – in the newest downloads section.  I have some ideas for the Hexagon Punch.  You can visit the MyDigitalStudio.net website and see today’s post about the Grad Party Ensemble.

I also sent out an email about the My Digital Studio club – I’ll be having a Make-Up class at my house the next 2 Mondays for anyone that missed the February class.  Contact me for the details.

Sweet Shop Sweet Treats

We made this little project during Stamp Club this month.  It’s an old idea that I created a couple of years ago.  But back then we didn’t have the Simply Scored Tool or the Diagonal Score plate – and this is the perfect little project to make with those.

To start I cut a scallop square using the Big Shot die-cut machine and the clear scallop square die – I used a piece of Sweet Shop Designer Series paper.  Then you’ll get out the Simply Scored and put the scallop square up in the corner – score it like a tic-tac-toe board – in between every 3 scallops.  After that’s done, add the Diagonal Score plate to your Simply Scored – and put your scallop square back in the corner again.  Now score a diagonal from each corner into where the two score lines meet on the tic-tac-toe board.  So you have a diagonal score through the center of each corner square.

Now fold on all your score lines – the diagonals go in and the others go out.  Punch a hole in each corner to pull your Baker’s Twine through and pull the corners together.  Add a tag and tie a bow.  The tag is the Decorative Label punch, “sweet treats” is a stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Island Indigo, doodle around the edges with the Stampin’ Write marker, and finally add a sticker from the cute Sweet Shop designer stickers.  Fill with some candy and you have a cute sweet little treat to give to someone one.

Up Up & Away Birthday Layout

Up Up & Away Birthday Layout

This layout was based on a sketch I found on Pinterest (there is a button on my side bar if you’d like to follow me).  I thought it looked like a fun birthday layout.  I used the Up, Up & Away stamp set with the Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper.  The clouds on the background were made using a scallop circle punch as a stencil and then sponging with Baja Breeze ink.  All the balloons are stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock and punched/cut out (see this post for a tip) and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The baskets are stamped on the the background.  I made this as a birthday layout but it could be many other things.  One of the papers in the Just Add Cake pack looks like notebook paper and I used that piece for the journaling banner.  For my sample I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment but you could also just write your journaling on the whole banner.

I hope you can make to scrapbook class this week (if you live near me that is).

Treat Wrapper Swaps

One of the organized swaps that I participated in at Leadership was the Treat Wrapper swap.  I did this one last year too and really enjoyed all the different ideas.  For this one I signed up for 2 different groups and then two of my room mates were also each in two different groups – so between the three of us we should have a ton of new ideas.  I plan to take pictures of all of their ideas before I leave to come back home.  So here is one of my treats – this is actually a double one – since the amount of candy in mine was rather small I thought I should include 2 similar ideas to have an equivalent amount of candy to what everyone else was doing.  You might remember the holiday treats I did a couple of months ago using the Gift Givers stamp set – it was a project for one of the Ustamp classes. I used that idea and created a Birthday and a Valentine’s idea.

The little 1″ x 8″ skinny cello bags are still available – that is what I used for these treats – they are filled with candy – skittles and conversation hearts and then folded in half and tucked inside the folded tag from the two-tags die.

It’s my last night in Texas, I’m not sure what we are doing tonight – we’ll probably go out for dinner, share all of our swaps and pack our bags so we’ll be ready to leave in the morning.

Up in the Air Hostess Stamp set

The new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog has a brand new hostess stamp set in it (and a My Digital Studio CD too).  I love the stamp set!  It is just my kind of thing and it will be so pretty for the spring – it is called Up in the Air – and it is not about hot air balloons – that is the one called Up, Up and Away.  This one has birds and butterflies, a bird nest and house, and flowers – it is so sweet.  I just got the set a few days ago so I only had a little time to play before I left for Leadership.  I did make one quick card to enter in the card contest.

This idea came from a card I saw on Pinterest – you can look for me there – the original inspiration card is on my card idea board – it was a non-SU card so I had to turn the idea into an all Stampin’ Up! card.  I used the Up in the Air hostess stamp set, the new Labels Collection Framelits Dies and the Attic Boutique Designer Series paper.    The Label Framelit creates a window for the flowers to peak through from the back. The centers of the flowers have pearls in them.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Card stock:  Basic Gray,  Whisper White
  • Ink: Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Stampin’ Write markers – Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
  • Stamp sets: Up in the Air, Petite Pairs
  • Accessories:  Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper, Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, Labels Collection Framelits Dies, Basic Pearls, Stampin’ Sponge, So Saffron 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, 3/16″ Corner Rounder punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Today should be Thursday – at least that is when this is supposed to be scheduled to post.  Today is our first full day of the Leadership conference and we’ll will be in classes all day.  I also have all my organized swaps today during lunch, I hope I make it to all of them and still have some time to eat.  I may need to reply on some of my friends to help me out.
