Today is my baby’s 18th birthday! Now I’m feeling old. My youngest child is 18. How can that be? I’ve been looking through old photos today and posting them in an album on my personal FB page – its’ like watching him grow up all in one day. Now I started with digital photos in 2002 so that is where I started. I’d have to go find the real baby pictures and scan those in. That’s a future project not for today. I’m also finishing up getting ready for convention. The Stampin’ Up! convention is this week and I’ve been waiting all year to see a bunch of my friends from all over North America. This year worked out well with convention squeezed in right between Ryan’s 18th birthday (today) and our 25th wedding anniversary (on the 22nd). Usually convention runs into one of the other of those special days.
Anyway on to the card I want to share today – it’s the card I made for Ryan for his birthday – and also used for one of my stamp club projects which was on Friday night. Ryan thought it was one of the cooler cards that I’ve made in a while – I’m glad he liked it so much.

I used the star framelits to make a star shaped card. Once I was done though the largest star doesn’t fit in a regular size envelope so the solution was to use the envelope punch board and make one to fit it! Plus I was able to use that extra star from the center to add to the envelope. Now this is not one I would mail out to anyone – it’s one you want to hand out to someone special – you don’t want the start to get smushed – its got some dimension to it – and then the specialty designer paper that I used for the envelope is the thinner paper and probably wouldn’t make it through the mail system.

Happy Birthday Ryan!
Here is what I used to make this card:
Thanks for the visit today.

Here is a fun summer birthday card made with some brand new Stampin’ up! products.
Red, White and Blue are fun summer colors and the new Sea Street stamp set is really cute – a fun smiling octopus. I created this card for a swap group that I’m part of. A group of us each create a card and then we swap with each other and get a whole bunch of ideas from the group. Here are some details about this card –
- Real Red card base stamped with the starfish image randomly across the bottom
- Night of Navy die cut with the Starburst Framelits and the Big Shot then embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder – I think it looks like bubbles
- A strip of Designer Paper from the new Maritime paper pack.
- tied some Whisper White Bakers twine around the card front
- 2-1/2″ Circle punch – a whisper white piece and stamp with the Octopus and the school of fish – add to the front with Stampin’ Dimesnionals
- stamp “Happy Birthday” from the new Something to Say stamp set – punch out with the Word Window punch

Here are all the Stampin’ Up! products I used – click on them to go the my online store.

I love my animals and the Animal Talk stamp set is one of my favorites. I needed a “DOG” or animal card for a class last month and came up with this one that uses the new Hardwood stamp set (LOVE IT!!) and the Animal Talk stamp set. I just changed my profile picture here on my blog – you can see it over on the right-hand side bar. If you get this update by email – click on the title of the post to go to my blog and see the picture. It is one of my favorites because I feel like it is so me. Sitting outside with a bunch of dogs! While only 2 of the dogs are actually mine. The other two hung around our cabin the whole time we were there and joined us like they were part of the family. This was several years ago but its still one of my favorite photos.

Here are the details of the card:
- Crumb Cake card base
- Crumb Cake layer stamped with the Hardwood Stamp – stamped in Crumb Cake ink
- The words are stamped in Chocolate Chip ink
- Tie a piece of the Chevron Natural Ribbon around the layer – actually you fold it around the card stock and then use a piece of Linen Thread to tie it together on the edge.
- Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Apothecary framelit and stamp the dog image in Chocolate Chip ink on it – cut the right side off straight against the edge of the card. I actually stamp first and then cut the shape with my Big Shot – then put it on the card and cut off the extra on the side.
- I colored in the dogs spots with my Crumb Cake stampin’ write marker.

I combined the Happy Watercolor stamp set with Coastal Cabana and created a birthday card for one of my card classes last week. I received a similar card as a swap (from Georgia) but it was Crisp Cantaloupe and I wanted to change up the color. My group requested a feminine birthday card so this was it.

Here are the basics for this card:
- Chocolate Chip card base
- Coastal Cabana front layer – stamp the Happy Birthday on the bottom with Chocolate Chip ink – then emboss with the Arrows Embossing folder above where you stamped – then punch a circle with the 2-1/2″ circle punch
- Whisper White layer underneath – stamp the watercolor brush in Coastal Cabana, stamp the flower in Chocolate Chip, stamp the spots in Gold – attach it to the back of the Coastal Cabana piece so it shows through the circle
- Tie a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine around the Coastal Cabana piece and tie in a bow – attach it to the front of the card
- On the inside I added a piece of Whisper White and stamped a little bit in the corner.
And you can stamp the corner of your envelope to match too – that’s always a fun addition.
Thanks for stopping by today – come back again tomorrow.

I have another alternate idea to share for one of the past Paper Pumpkin kits. This one is for the Pedal Praise Monthly Kit – this one was from August 2013. I used it to make a birthday card.

I love the little silver mini brad in the center of each wheel. And the lines are from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set make the perfect “road”. I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest. Colors are Smoky Slate, Real Red and Whisper White. A little touch of embossing using the Alphabet Press Folder – it not only has letters but some numbers as well so when I embossed my little piece I positioned it to pick up some of the numbers since this was a birthday card.
You can see other ideas with past kits by visiting my Paper Pumpkin Idea Pinterest Board.
