Fall Colors

There are many colors in the Stampin’ Up! color families that can be considered fall colors.  Even though I usually say that my favorite time of the year is spring; I think my favorite colors of the year are the fall colors.  I love all the earthy natural colors that are considered the colors of fall.

The card I have today actually came from a project that a demonstrator friend, Erica Cerwin, created.  She made these cute fall boxes filled with some type of candy.  She always finds the neatest stuff.  I loved the project but was working on card ideas for my stamp club and decided to take what she did on the box and turn it into a card.  If you follow Erica you will see that this looks familiar.

These are the colors that I used – Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango, Garden Green, Soft Suede.

The stamp set is called Pick a Pumpkin and the coordinating Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies.  You can get them as a bundle. The dies also match the pumpkins on one of the Spooky Night Designer Series paper patterns.  The stamp set has no words with it so I used the set Banners For You and the Bunch of Banners Framelits to add a greeting to my card.

I’m not sure if you can see the large scallop in the Soft Suede – it’s part of the background and that die is in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set.  I love the big scallop edge.

Enjoy your week!

Die Storage by your Big Shot

Have you had this problem – you are creating with your Big Shot, pulling out various dies as you work on your project, you set one down on the table and keep working, then you need it again and it has disappeared?  Oh no!  It was just there.  Now its hiding under a little pile of paper scraps and hopefully you didn’t just put it in the trash!  Tragically I have lost a die like this and have been trying really hard not to let it happen again.  So I found a solution!  Magnet sheets!  Framed to set right by your Big shot!  Or perhaps you hang it on the wall by your Big Shot station.

For my frame I found 5×7″ white frames at Ikea – these had a flat front edge so I was able to use Washi Tape to decorate – it’s the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape.  I bought 5×7 magnet sheets which turned out to not actually be 5×7 but just a little bit smaller than that.  So they didn’t stay in the frame on their own – because they would slip through the opening.  So I used Tear & Tape and adhered the magnet sheet directly to the glass piece of the frame.

To decorate the corner of the frame I used the new Daisy punch and Daisy Delight stamp set.  Mine is Crushed Curry flower so it would match my classroom.  My Stamp Club made this project they each chose the color that they wanted for their flowers – so we had all different colors.  For the leaves underneath punch a daisy in Old Olive and the fold it in half so the petals off set with each other. I finished the center of the flower with a Clear Faceted Gem.

It’s really a quick and easy project once you have the frame and magnet sheet – you could decorate with any flower punch that you have on hand or a die!

Have a great day!

Here are a couple of cards that I made with this bundle

Stampin’ Up! Carols of Christmas, Holiday Catalog 2017, Monika Davis

For this card I used Be Merry Designer Series Paper in the Annual Catalog, Thick Whisper White card stock and Vellum card stock.  I stamped with the Archival Black ink on the Vellum which needs some time to dry.  You can also use this idea and instead of the Designer Paper under the vellum use a family photo.

More Coffee Cafe

Yesterday’s Coffee Cafe card was super simple and used only the stamp set.  Today’s card adds a few more products from the suite.  The Coffee Break Designer Series Paper and the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies.

This time I stamped the coffee cup and the lid and cut them out with the coordinating die set.  Plus that little heart shaped stopper.  Honestly since I don’t drink coffee I’m really not sure what that thing is called – but I guess it keeps anything from spilling out of the hole in the top of the lid. It’s a little bit hard to see against the Designer Paper background – but it really is there.  I also added the Garden Green Stitched Satin Ribbon – which isn’t part of the suite but matches perfectly with it in m opinion.

For this card you could really use any of the prints in the Designer Paper for the background piece. Here is a look at all the designs.

My card was inspired by a door mat I found right around the time our new catalog started.

I have this at my front door to greet everyone that comes to class.  I wonder how many realized we have a stamp set that matches.

Spring Retreat Table Gifts

When you attend a Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip one of the really exciting parts of the trip are the pillow gifts that they give you.  On the trip each evening they leave a surprise on your bed.  It is such a fun thing that I wanted it to be a part of my retreats too.  In the beginning retreats were at my house and not everyone spent the night so I left them on each table at different times of the day – so I often call them pillow gifts but I should probably call them Table gifts.  Fun little surprises throughout the weekend – for me it’s so much fun to do these.

To start with I like to start the retreat with a table gift waiting when everyone arrives and I like for it to have each attendee’s name on it.  This year we started with a little cactus for everyone.

This time the little succulents became a cactus.  These coordinated with the Friday Night Make&Takes.

Everyone received a little container made from Designer Series Paper filled with caramels. These also coordinated with our Friday night projects.

Another table gift was this fun box filled with giant Hershey deluxe kisses!  Yum.

This one coordinated with the Saturday projects – the bumble bee is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the tag is watercolor washed in the background.

I’ll share the rest of the table gifts in my next post.

Thanks for visiting.  Remember to save the date for the Fall Retreat – Sept. 29 – Oct 1, 2017.
