What happens when you cut it?

The Acetate Boxes are on page 13 in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  You might have missed them.  They are the perfect size to hold 5 cards and envelopes.  Making them nice for storing a set of cards or better yet – giving a set of handmade cards as a gift!  Who would you give some too?

But what happens when you cut one of those nice boxes in half?  Well you get two small open-ended boxes that you can use for holding little treats or tags or any number of things.

I used a Guillotine cutter to cut them exactly in half.  The paper trimmer won’t work.  Or you could measure and use some heavy duty scissors being careful to get a straight edge.  In either case I used Designer series paper along my top edge – so if your cut isn’t perfect the paper can hide it.  The paper I used was from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

To finish decorating my box I stamped a tag from the Merry Little Labels stamp set and punched it out with the Everyday Label Punch.  To the back of it I added two vellum Leaf punches – that’s the new Leaf Punch – and then added that to an Old Olive piece of card stock.  To the back of that I’ve added a piece of Mini Gold Sequin Trim and a piece of the Foil Snowflake – I used a gold one.  Then I put the whole thing on my box with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finally I tied around a piece of Jute Twine.

Now fill with goodies!

I found these Honey Caramel Chocolate Peanut clusters at Sam’s Warehouse.  They come in a big bag but are individually wrapped – plus the green foil went nicely with my paper! Actually I bought the candy first and then went through my paper to find what looked good with the candy!

Be sweet!  Thanks for stopping by.

Spring Retreat Table Gifts

When you attend a Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip one of the really exciting parts of the trip are the pillow gifts that they give you.  On the trip each evening they leave a surprise on your bed.  It is such a fun thing that I wanted it to be a part of my retreats too.  In the beginning retreats were at my house and not everyone spent the night so I left them on each table at different times of the day – so I often call them pillow gifts but I should probably call them Table gifts.  Fun little surprises throughout the weekend – for me it’s so much fun to do these.

To start with I like to start the retreat with a table gift waiting when everyone arrives and I like for it to have each attendee’s name on it.  This year we started with a little cactus for everyone.

This time the little succulents became a cactus.  These coordinated with the Friday Night Make&Takes.

Everyone received a little container made from Designer Series Paper filled with caramels. These also coordinated with our Friday night projects.

Another table gift was this fun box filled with giant Hershey deluxe kisses!  Yum.

This one coordinated with the Saturday projects – the bumble bee is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the tag is watercolor washed in the background.

I’ll share the rest of the table gifts in my next post.

Thanks for visiting.  Remember to save the date for the Fall Retreat – Sept. 29 – Oct 1, 2017.

Spring Retreat Make&Takes

Well I’m really behind on sharing about the Spring 2017 Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat.  It was a few months ago and I didn’t share about it on my blog then but I’m going to do that now.  And be sure to save the date for the Fall retreat – September 29-October 1.  I held the retreat at a beautiful cabin in the North Georgia Mountains.  I’m actually heading back up there later this month to host a Demonstrator Getaway Weekend.  It is so much fun to getaway for the weekend and be creative with friends.

At the Spring Retreat we had Make&Take projects for everyone there.  We had a project for Friday night and another one for Saturday.

For Friday night we stuck with a fairly simple project – a card and a little 3-D succulent.

spring-retreat-mt1

These use products from the Oh So Succulent Suite from the Occasions Catalog.  We used the Popcorn Box die and cut it shorter to create the container for the succulent.  The card uses 4 x 5-1/4 piece of designer paper that is cut at a diagonal.  You can mix and match the patterns from a pack of designer paper.  Everyone at the retreat got a piece of all the different patterns in the pack.

On Saturday we had a bigger project and taught 5 different water coloring techniques.  We used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and dies to create a set of 4 cards – each with a different technique and a card holder with a 5th technique.

Everyone also made a 3D project to match the cards using the Window Box Thinlits Dies.  Since I prepped everything ahead I did a ton of Big Shot cutting for this one!

Inside the Window Box was a battery operated tea light – the back of the box opens up so you can turn on your light.  We strung a wire through so you could hang it from a hook somewhere.

The projects turned out great and everyone enjoyed making them and learning the new techniques.  I hope you can join me in the fall.

Thanks for stopping by.

This uses the Cool Treats Suite from the Occasions catalog.  This sweet is perfect for summer!  And luckily the stamp set and the framelits are staying – but the two bundled together will retire – so save 10% by ordering them as a bundle now.  The fun Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Paper is also retiring. The Watermelon Wonder is one of our retiring In-Colors and it is in this paper – I used the card stock to make the little strawberries – aren’t they the cutest!  Some other items in the suite are the washi tape and Sprinkles Embellisments – those will be retiring too.  If you go to the Stampin’ Up! And today’s something new project –

hb-gorgeous

How about this fun, bright, birthday card!  It features one of our brand new In-Colors called Lemon Lime Twist!  I used the card stock and a piece of the new Fresh Florals Designer Paper Stack for this card.  This new color on the Basic Black just pops!  I also used a brand new bundle – Happy Birthday Gorgeous Bundle – it’s one that you might overlook in the catalog.  It includes this awesome Happy Birthday Thinlits die – I love the font and the size of it.  And there is a stamp set that you can use with it – that’s where the word BELATED comes from.  I think I need a whole big stack of these cards since I’ve missed lots of birthdays since the beginning of the year.

The Easter Bunny is coming

Easter is quickly approaching and this will be the first one where I won’t have any of my three boys here with us.  No nieces or nephew around either.  No little kids.  It’s going to be a grown up Easter lunch.  I’m also not hosting this year – we will be going to Greg’s cousin’s on Sunday instead.  So even though I didn’t need any invitations or treats for Easter baskets I did create a few Easter things this year.  I previously shared the little box with the chocolate carrot – now here is a bunny card.  I actually made two version using slightly different colors.

easter-bunny-2

This is the second one I made using Pumpkin Pie card stock and Peekaboo Peach ribbon.  It matched the little box.

Easter-Bunny-card

This was actually the first one I created and it uses So Saffron for his hat and a Mint Macaron bow.

Here are some tips for these cards:

  • The base is Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 3″ wide.
  • Stamp with the Hardwood background stamp using Sahara Sand ink – but stamp off once on your grid paper so that it’s really light.
  • The hat is a 3″ square also stamped with the Hardwood stamp and glued to the top of the card.
  • The brim of the hat is a 4-1/4″ strip, stamped and put on with dimensionals.  This makes your card 4-1/4″ wide and still fits in a medium sized envelope.
  • I used the Basket Bunch stamp set to stamp his whiskers – its the flower stem – i just inked half of it and stamped three time on each side of a hand drawn mouth
  • Eyes are from the Basket Builder Framelit dies – it’s the small leaf die.
  • Nose is the tip of the Medium star punch.
  • Ears are from the Basket Builder Framelit dies – it’s the long leaf die.  And then hand drew with a marker for the inside of the ears.
  • Add a bow with a glue dot.

A fun card that goes along with some of the other “pallet” cards I’ve made in the past.

The retiring list is now out – be sure to shop online for your favorites – including this Basket Bunch set and dies – they are retiring!!  SHOP NOW.

Happy Easter!
