If you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you receive the Stampin’ Success Magazine every month. It is full of ideas and articles for us. In the October issue there was an 8×8 scrapbook page that I fell in Love with. It used the French Foliage stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. As it turns out I won that stamp set at the Baltimore Regional! And this was the first thing I created with it. I decided to make the 8×8 page (with a few changes). I was also preparing for my Scrapbook class but for it I do 12×12 two-page layouts. So I wanted to modify the 8×8 page to use it for my Scrapbook class.
Step 1 – make the 8×8 page –
I started with an Old Olive 8×8 piece of card stock. The strips of Designer Paper on the left side are from the Love Letter Designer Series Paper. With a piece of Soft Suede textured card stock that has been torn on one side. And a piece of Confetti Cream card stock that was been stamped with the word block from the French Foliage stamp set. The leaves were stamped on Confetti Cream card stock and cut out. I added a button from the Neutrals Designer buttons.
I cut the 2010 using the GoGo Boots Sizzlits dies and the Big Shot. I had the page finished and wasn’t sure what to use it for. One of the stamps in the set says “PARIS” – the little circle and I thought of Greg’s recent trip to Paris and thought this page would be perfect for that. So I looked through his pictures and printed some out. On the Decorative Label punch I decided to stamp the definition of Journey from the Define Your Life stamp set. And I added the little splatter image – right now it is an excellent replacement for the splatter that I miss from Itty Bitty Backgrounds.
Step 2 – take the 8×8 page and turn it into a 12×12 page.
I kept it very simple and stuck with the square theme. I just place the original page on a black square and then on a 12×12 Old Olive square.
Now that it is done – I think it is pretty enough to frame – and I just might do that and hang it on the wall!
Step 3 – create a coordinating 12×12 page.
I normally have more than one picture on a scrapbook page. And with only 1 picture on the left I wanted to be able to add more pictures to the second page so I had to figure out how to do that. I stuck with the square theme and decided to create a grid on the second page.
It actually looked good with just the card stock and Designer Series paper squares on it – which is what i started with. But I had to add pictures.
The squares are 2×2″ squares. To add the pictures when I cut them into 2×2 squares and placed them in the grid. Pictures that I really wanted to show more than one square I placed side by side or top and bottom so you could see the full scene. They are scattered through out the grid and mixed in with the Designer Paper and card stock.
I added a piece of Designer Paper from the Newsprint pack – it has the map on it which I thought suited this journey layout.
I love how it turned out and everyone in my scrapbook class loved it too. While the stamp set is sort of a fall leaves theme – this set is easy to use for many things – I think this could have even been used as a wedding/anniversary layout. It is really a year-round set so use it for many things!
And HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I didn’t have anymore Halloween projects – I was done with all those and have been doing fall/Christmas and other stuff. So that is why you got a non-Halloween project today. I hope you liked it!

One of the great things about the Stampin’ Up! Regionals is the WOW demonstrations by our fellow demonstrators. For every regional Stampin’ Up! selects demos to come and present a WOW idea on stage. We saw six different WOW demonstrations at the Baltimore Regional. This idea was presented by Deb Paise. She made her card and then put the whole thing in an embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot. She made one card that looked just like a knitted sweater when it was done. Deb showed us several examples that day.
My sister-in-law and I played with the idea when we got back to her house that weekend and here is one of the cards that we created.
The front panel is Old Olive with strips of Jolly Holiday Designer Series paper. Then that whole panel is put inside the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and sent through the Big Shot.
The Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding is wrapped around the panel and tied in a knot. The panel was attached to the front of a Cherry Cobbler card base. The ornament from the Tags til Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog – stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and punched out with the ornament punch. Some Linen Thread was tied around the top of the ornament and it is put on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I liked the results of how the embossing folder really embeds the designer paper into the card stock making it look like it is all one piece. Try it for yourself – I think you’ll like it. We made this card at the KSU card club class earlier this month.
I also decorated the envelope and the inside of the card.
If I have a dark colored card base like this Cherry Cobbler I usually add a neutral panel to the inside for the message. This one is Very Vanilla.
My November Hands On class is going to be a Holiday Stamp-a-Stack class. We will be making 16 cards with matching envelopes – 4 cards each of 4 different designs. My class dates are slightly different from normal. My evening class will be on Thursday, November 18th at 6:00 pm. My morning class will be on Friday, November 19th at 10:00 am. Bingo cards will be emailed out for Group 6 some time today and I’ll start calling pieces on Saturday.

This adorable notebook project was shared by Joyce Pandolfi at a downline meeting that we had a few months back. I thought it would be the perfect project for the ladies at my KSU club. The school mascot is an owl so I wanted to add the owl somehow and decided to create a coordinating bookmark that uses the owl punch. It all turned out so cute.
This is just a normal composition book from the store. These happened to be striped instead of the marbled ones. But any kind will do. The front label is covered with several layers of card stock.
Basic Black, Read Red, Basic Black and then Whisper White. On the white piece we used the jumbo wheel Neighborhood – wheeled in black and then used Stampin’ Write Markers to color in just one house (and the dog house).
Below that is Basic Black, Real Red and Daffodil Delight letters. The letters are cut using the GoGo Boots Sizzlits die and the Big Shot.
Tie a piece of Real Red ribbon around the front cover and you have a cute notebook!
The matching book mark is a piece of Basic Black card stock cut using the scallop tag on the Two Tags die. Now you want this to be a folded bookmark so you need to start with a strip of black folded in half. Then position it on the die so the fold is just below the cut line. Then when you roll it through the Big Shot it will cut out the tag but leave the fold at the straight end. I hope that makes sense.
To decorate punch a piece of Real Red card stock with the Scallop Circle punch. Then punch the Owl – I used Basic Gray for the body, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White for the eyes and a black journaler for the pupils of the eyes and to outline the beak. His shirt (or whatever that piece might be called) is a piece of designer series paper – I think I used scraps from the Play Date paper.
Now the best part of the bookmark is that it is magnetic! Stampin’ Up! has magnet sheets now and I just cut some squares out to put on the inside of the book mark so it will hold tight to the page it is marking.
I also used the adhesive sheets on this project. I punched out the pieces then put them on the adhesive sheet. You do this by lifting the cover on the adhesive, put down all your pieces, cover them back up and rub over to get all the adhesive to stick. Now they are kind of like stickers – you lift the cover again and peel up the piece you want and stick it down. if you have extra adhesive hanging out of your project use the adhesive remover to “erase” it away.
It was fun and I think a very useful project.

There are so many creative Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators out there that you don’t even need to make your own creations. Now I do like to make my own creations but sometimes someone creates something just perfect that you just need to use it the way it is. And for those of you that say I can’t be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator because I’m not creative – that’s no reason at all. There are so many ideas out there on blogs, on the Stampin’ Up! website, in our magazine at our events you could have enough ideas to last you forever – so don’t use that as a reason not to join. I’m excited that my little team is growing and if you want to join I would love to have you!
Now on to my project share today – another card from my Punch Art class. This one uses the bird punch to make a Cardinal for a Christmas card – see you don’t even have to have a Christmas stamp set – just the bird punch will do. This idea is from Connie Stewart – although in her comments she says she saw the idea demonstrated some where on stage. I made a few changes to the actual card but liked the way Connie used the red and white with just a hint of green. So this is my version:
The cardinal is the bird punch – twice – the extra wing becomes the crown and the extra body is trimmed and becomes another layer on the tail. I also punched an extra head out of black and then trimmed it to make the mask. I’m using Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Always Artichoke for the color on my card.
The little rectangle piece is cut using the Big Shot and the new Scallop Rectangle Clearlits die. After I cut it I added texture with one of the texture plates – the one that looks like wood grain.
A piece of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding is tied around and into a knot. Add a holiday greeting and you have a quick Christmas card.
I’m writing this on Friday night and just want to say – Way to go ETOWAH EAGLES!! Greg and I went to the game tonight they were playing against Woodstock and it was the game of the week so Fox 5 news was there and I think the whole game aired on one of the tv stations. It was a great game – tied 14-14 at the end of regulation and then they did over-time possessions. Woodstock went first and got almost to the goal line – and Etowah held them off 3 times for no score. Then Etowah went and got close enough for them to score a field goal and win the game 17-14. Very exciting! And today – Saturday – the Etowah band will be a competition – wish them luck!
Ok – so now onto Bingo – anybody out there waiting on just one more – will today be the day we have Bingo?

Last fall I saw a scarecrow bag that someone (sorry I don’t know who) had made and thought it was so cute. But I never got around to making one. So when I was planning my Punch Art class for this month I decided I wanted to do a scarecrow as part of the class. I was trying to decide if I wanted to make a card, or something like the bag that I saw but finally decided I wanted to use the Fancy Favor Box die to make mine. Then I was looking at Stampin’ Connection (our demo community for sharing ideas) and Doris Denman posted a cute scarecrow card. I had already started with my box but I did decide to use some of the elements from her card – the smile and the little crows. So my scarecrow box is a combination of ideas from those two plus a little of my own. And here he is……
I cut the box from So Saffron card stock using the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor box die. Then I cut another panel of So Saffron to fit on the front and ran that through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The edges are sponged in Soft Suede. Around the top of the box I used the brown paper packaging that comes in all the Stampin’ Up! shipping boxes. Yep that paper works perfect for a scarecrow and can be used for shredded paper inside the box too! Around the bottom of the box is a torn piece of Deck the Halls fabric – tied in a knot on the corner and one of the little Vintage Trinkets safety pins is on there. The crow, flower and his face are all made from various punches – lets see if I can make a list:
Eyes – Bitty Circle, 1/2″ circle, 3/4″ circle
Nose – Large Star
Mouth – 1-3/4″ circle, Heart to Heart
Flower – Boho Blossom, Bitty Circle
Crow – 3/4″ x 15/16″ oval, Boho Blossom, Heart to Heart
I really like how the boxes turned out – I make one for each of the kids for their Thanksgiving Table (Stephanie – what do you think?)

Welcome to week 6 of the weekly Color Challenge over at the Utah Diva’s International Blog. I can’t believe we have been doing this for 6 weeks already – it feels like we just started.
So for this weeks color challenge we had a whole lot of color – Rose Red, Concord Crush, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight. Oh my….what to do with that many different colors. I thought – thank goodness there is a green in there, I can always do flowers again. But I wanted to do something besides flowers – so I spent several days mulling it over until I finally came to a decision. To make a set of monochromatic cards – but now to choose a set with 5 different images that I could use – I wanted one stamp set, one layout, and each card a different color. I pulled out several different ones and finally decided to use Cute by the Inch – a Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog. It has 9 images – 10 would have worked better, but 9 will do.
Ta-Da – my set of mini cards using the Cute by the Inch set. The whole set is inside a Fancy Favor box – cut using the Thick Window Sheets.
This was the first time I had used these thick window sheets – and boy they are thick – just like those thick plastic boxes you can buy to put treats in. I used Sticky Strip to assemble my box.
Here is a close up of the box with all the cards and envelopes inside.
I tied a piece of Old Olive Satin ribbon around the outside and added a tag to the front.
Here
is a close up of one of the cards. There are 2 of each color except Olive that is why I chose to use the Old Olive ribbon around the box. I probably should just add a 10th card to make it equal and double one of the images.
These mini cards are 2-3/4″ square cards. The white mat is 2-1/2″ and the colored embossed panel is 2″ square. The images are stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the 1-1/4″ square punch. The tag on the front of the box was layered with a 1-3/8″ square that was punched.
That’s my interpretation. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
