Apr 28, 2009 | Blog Tour |
WOW what a day it was yesterday with the blog tour. I had over 600 people visit my blog yesterday – my highest day ever by a mile! And I received many wonderful comments too. Many people commented on the cracked glass technique and I’ll post a tutorial for that one day this week. And I received lots of compliments on the little suitcase project – we will probably do that in an upcoming class. With all the great ideas I saw yesterday I have to plan my classes for the next two months.
I’m going to post later with a list of some of the blogs from my tour and the other tours that were going on the same day. I made a list of some of my favorites. To see my samples go to my post dated April 26th – Blog Tour 4 Stop 16 – Sense of Time.
For my Blog candy winner I decided to choose TWO winners instead of just one – so they are
- Lisa B.
- Carrie M.
I will email each of you to get your Corduroy Button Assortment to you. Thanks for playing and sharing your favorites with me.
I have a busy day today – lots to do – prep for my scrapbook class, prep for our group retreat this weekend, get the May release of the Wow Scrapbook Kit ready, go to the high school for Senior Project Judging, and more. I hope I don’t forget anything.
Have a Happy Day! Read about my birds (and other animals in my other post).

Apr 26, 2009 | Big Shot, Blog Tour, Occasions Mini 2009 |

Welcome to the Mini Occasions Blog Tour!
You have just hopped on Tour 4 at Stop #16. Enjoy viewing my samples using the “Sense of Time” stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I have been working on these samples over the last week or so and I’m pleased with the results. At the end of my post you will be linked to the next stop on the tour – you will be headed to Canada!
My first sample is a little suitcase – this set reminds me of something old fashioned and since I had travel on my mind I came up with this cute little suitcase idea. This would make a cute little treat box to give someone getting ready to go on a trip or use it for Father’s Day.
Supplies:
- Sense of Time stamp set
- Chocolate Chip card stock
- Very Vanilla card stock
- Chocolate Chip Classic ink
- Big Shot Die-Cut Machine
- Bigz XL Box #2 die
- Ticket Corner punch
- Paper Piercer
- 5/8″ Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon
- 5/16″ Jumbo Brads – Very Vanilla
- Stampin’ Sponge
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Sticky Strip
This next project is one that I made for the Principal at my sons school. He is leaving the school this year to go to one of the new schools in the county and the PTA wanted to give him a going away gift. I made a similar gift for the High School Band seniors last year and thought this would work for this as well. It is a scrapbook tin. Inside the tin is an accordion fold scrapbook containing pictures from various events at the school. When you open the tin the accordion album lifts out and has pictures on both sides. Inside the lid is a place for the PTA officers to write a personal note to the Principal. I hope it is a gift that he will enjoy. You could create a tin like this to give as a father’s day gift or to hold memories from a trip. Since it is a tin you can add 3-d items that you might not be able to include in a traditional scrapbook.
Supplies:
- Sense of Time stamp set
- Always Artichoke card stock
- Kraft card stock
- Baja Breeze card stock
- Very Vanilla card stock
- Always Artichoke classic ink
- Versamark ink
- Manchester Designer Series paper
- Sticky Strip
- Circle Scissor Plus & Glass Mat
- Big Shot Die-cut Machine
- Billboard Alphabet Sizzlits Die
- Twill Tape
- Vintage Brads
- Corner Rounder Punch
- Cutter Kit
My last project is a card I made last night. I knew there was something I wanted to do with this clock and it just wasn’t coming to my mind so I had been hesitating on creating my last sample. Finally last night as I played around with different ideas and it came to me – CRACKED GLASS TECHNIQUE! It was the perfect thing to do with this stamp set – yet another way to give it an old-fashioned look.

I used the new Circle Scissor Plus to cut the circles out for the project and for the tin. It takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it you can go crazy creating all different sized circles.
Here is a close up so you can see the detail of the cracked glass technique on the clock image. It is much easier to see in person than it is on these photos.
Supplies:
- Sense of Time stamp set
- Kiwi Kiss card stock
- Basic Gray card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Circle Scissor Plus & Glass Mat
- Kiwi Kiss Classic ink
- Basic Gray Classic ink
- Versamark ink
- Glassy Glaze Enamel Embossing Powder
- Heat Tool
- Powder Pal
- Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
Those are my samples – I hope you liked them. Be sure and leave me a comment!

There will be two 2-page 12×12 layouts for this class and the class fee is $20. Please RSVP today. If you need more information visit my Stampin’ Up! Website and check out my events calendar.
If you want more scrapbook pages consider visiting the Wow Scrapbook Kits Blog that I created for Wendy and I to sell scrapbook kits. We will have the new kit for May available for order on May 1st. Orders placed by May 20th will include a free paper and embellishment pack. You can also order instruction sheets for the individual layouts. Visit our blog for more information about our kits. We will also be posting scrapbooking tips on the Wow Scrapbook Kits blog. You will find a new link on my side bar that will take you there anytime you want to visit.
I have made some additional updates today on my blog. You will find links on my sidebar for the April Class Kit to Go – it features the Great Friend stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I added a link to my Stampin’ Up! Website to join my Stampin’ Up! team. You can view several videos about Stampin’ Up! and information about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I would love to have you as part of my team so call me and we can get together so I can answer any of your questions. Right now Stampin’ Up! has an Easy Three Payment Plan if you join by the end of the month – paperwork has to be mailed in to take part of this offer – so don’t delay if this is something that interests you.
I have also made updates to my list of Retired Stamp Sets for sale and added a few accessory items as well. And as I mentioned already a new link to the Wow Scrapbook Kits blog is now on my sidebar too.
I’m preparing my blog for the BLOG TOUR that starts tomorrow. Be sure to come back and join me as we travel around the country and see the wonderful art work from demonstrators featuring the items in the Occasions Mini Catalog. If you place an order of $40 or more from the Occasions Mini Catalog you will get to choose one FREE item from the Under $10 page in the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book (page 208). This specials is good through the end of April and is available with Online Ordering too.
I’m going to wait and post new pictures of my birds on Tuesday after the Blog Tour is over. I checked the calendar yesterday and the Robins are probably going to be the first to leave the nest. I can see the babies stretching their wings and they are getting pretty big. I would expect them to leave sometime this week. The others maybe next weekend or the week after. I’ll keep my eyes on them.
I’ll see you all tomorrow on the BLOG TOUR.

Happiness is a beautiful spring day!
This morning I spent some time outside planting flowers and watching the birds. I took some pictures but haven’t put them on the computer yet. I’ll do that tomorrow. All the babies are growing by next week some might be ready to leave the nest – the Robin babies are pretty big now and keep stretching their wings like they are ready to fly.
This afternoon I took Ryan to his tennis match he played the boys line 2 singles match for his team and won 8 games to 5. He had a good sports weekend so far – one more soccer game tomorrow afternoon. I took pictures of him playing tennis and want to work on some tennis scrapbook pages.
Tonight all of us went out to dinner as a family – we haven’t had the chance to do that in a while. It seems somebody always has something going on. And then we came home and sat outside on the porch for a little while enjoying the weather while Ryan and the dogs played in the backyard.
So a beautiful spring day reminded me of this card that we made in the Stamper’s Club back in March. The ladybug is a punch art project and the card itself is actually a slider card. The ladybug can slide around on the little track that is cut into the front of the card. We used one of the new jumbo brads to hold the ladybug in the track. It was a fun interactive card.
I worked in the craft room tonight – finishing up samples for the Blog Tour on Monday – I have all of mine completed now – my stamp set is the Sense of Time set. Come join the tour on Monday – all the links along the tour will be available from 8:00 am to Midnight.
I hope you will take some time to stop by and join me and others on the tour – traveling around the country visiting demonstrator blogs and seeing samples using products from the Occasion Mini Catalog. All the deomstrators are very excited!
I also finished one of the scrapbook pages for my Wednesday night class. I’ll show you a sneak peek tomorrow.
