Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge

Today we are driving to Hilton Head for the Stampin’ Up! Getaway Trip!  I’m so excited to be going and can’t wait to see what little surprises Stampin’ Up! has for us there.  Thank you to everyone that helped me earn this trip.

It’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This week we have a color challenge – and let’s just say when I pulled up the colors – I was less than thrilled – Pink Pirouette, Cherry Cobbler and Baja Breeze.

Now I LOVE Baja Breeze and lately I’ve been using lots of Cherry Cobbler – but the pink I guess is throwing me off.  What in the world was I going to do with these colors…. I can’t wait to look at all the other design team creations because I need help with this one.  But I muscled through and came up with a creation for you.

It’s really a simple card.  Just not much to it.  Cherry Cobbler base.  Baja Breeze layer – embossed with the strip of hearts and stamped with the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness.  I unraveled some of the Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim to use for the “ribbon” on my card and also used a bit through one of the crystal baubles.  I punched several layers of the Pink Pirouette with the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch and one layer with the larger Scallop Circle punch.  I crumpled them all up and layered them together – I used a mini brad to hold the layers together.  Then spritzed the whole flower with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  To finish the flower I added the crystal button with the Cherry Cobbler unraveled sweater trim pulled through.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness
  • Ink: Cherry Cobbler and Cherry Cobbler Marker
  • Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Adorning Accents Folders, 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1/16″ circle punch, Color Spritzer Tool, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, mini brad, Cherry Cobbler Sweater Trim, Dimensionals

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  Have you joined the Create Holiday Edition online class yet?  My guest designer project was posted earlier this week – it’s a fun card set but you have to join the class to see it and all the other great projects.  It’s a great deal with tutorials for all the projects.  So come join the fun!

Pierced Field Flowers Card

This is one of the cards that we made at my Hands-on Class last week.  We focused on Paper Piercing and using the new piercer, mat and templates.  The card idea comes directly from the catalog – it is based on the sample that they have on the page with the piercing tools.

I made a few changes – one was changing the orientation of the card.  There is piercing around the Apothecary Accents framelit – using the template in the Essentials pack.  There is piercing along the large scallop edglit – that’s also in the Essentials pack.  And then straight line piercing around the rest of the layered panel on the card.  All the piercing on this card uses the Essentials Paper-piercing pack.

The colors I used are So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango and Always Artichoke.  I believe the catalog used Daffodil Delight in their example – I’m not sure why I used a different yellow – but I did.  It turned out to be a pretty card.

If you are a member of the Create with Connie & Mary Holiday edition class – my guest designer project posted today – I made a cute card set, matching envelopes and a surprise container to store them all in.  But you have to be a member to see it!  There are lots of great projects – a new one posted every day – and they all have step by step photo tutorials with them.  So go over there and join if you haven’t already…..  CLICK HERE.

Tonight is our first My Digital Studio Digi Crop Night – it should be fun – if you are local come join Cindy and I and have a fun evening with friends.  Details are on my website and on my facebook page.

Chattanooga Regional My Way Presentation

I am back from the Chattanooga Stampin’ Up! Regional on Saturday.  Boy what a fun and exciting day!  I loved spending the day with so many friends, learning new stamping ideas, and stamping.  And I made it through my on stage presentation!  I really don’t remember what I said or if I was even talking in complete sentences.  You know how sometimes you think something in your head but all of it doesn’t really come out of your mouth.  I’m wondering now if I did that.  Well I’m going to put together a tutorial for the project and post it soon so it will have all the steps and hopefully fill in any of the blanks I left during the presentation.

Here is my name up on the big screen –

And here is a picture that my friend Christine got of me up on the stage –

I’m getting more pictures from my friends but Christine was right in the front row so she got a really good one.  And here are the projects that I showed.

They hung all the ideas up on the board so everyone could get pictures of them.  But I took some pictures at home too so here are my close ups –

Googly Ghouls Halloween treat bags

No Peeking Holiday treat bags

I like to do things in 3s a lot of the time – probably because I have 3 boys so I always buy treats and gifts in 3s and prefer to have the same item for each but in a different design.  These little bags fit 3 chocolate nuggets perfectly and also the mini kit kat bars (I used those in the Halloween treats).  Here are some more ideas –

Snowflake Chapstick bags

School treat bag filled with Smarties – 3 packs fit perfect in here!

And a pretty Sunflower Treat bag – filled with chocolate of course!

I’ll be working on the tutorial and hopefully have it for you later this week!

Thanks so much!

Flowers for Friends

This Saturday I’ll be heading to Chattanooga for a fun girls trip to the Stampin’ Up! Regional.  I wanted to make a little something for all my friends that I will see.  And here is what I came up with – this is my instagram photo –

To make the flower – I used the Big Shot die-cut machine and the Floral Frames Framelits – I used the center flower in the set.  Cut one flower and then score in between every two petals.  Then cut away ONE petal (not two) and the one that is left is glued behind the pair on the other side.  Then I curled the end of a piece of floral wire and poked it through the center.  If needed nip a tiny hole with your paper snips at the base of the flower.  To hold it in place I put a mini glue dot at the base and tied a piece of gumball green ribbon around the wire and slid it right up to the base of the flower – you can just see it peeking out in this picture.  Trim the wire to the length you want.

I used a small cello bag and filled it partially with some beans – then tied it shut with white Baker’s Twine.  I trimmed off extra of the bag that was sticking out the top.  Stick the flower into the center of the bag.  I cut a piece of muslin – I used an 8″ square – pull it up around the bag of beans and the base of the flower and tie shut with some of the ribbon.  I used the ribbon that matched my flower – this one is Primrose Petals.

To finish I stamped a tag from the Mixed Medley Hostess set – punched with the small scallop circle punch (both in the Holiday Catalog).  And tied that on with some Linen Thread.  I’ll try to get a picture of the whole lot so you can see all the colors – I used Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, and also Baja Breeze.

I’m excited about the trip to Chattanooga and nervous too!  I’ll be doing a demo on stage – so wish me luck – I hope I don’t shake too much and that everyone will be able to hear me.  And that I remember what I’m planning to say – I’m going to write out some index cards to help me.

Gotta go……
