Spring card with Afternoon Picnic paper

I used my Welcome Spring Scrapbook layout to inspire a spring card for one of my card groups.  I turned it into a Mother’s Day card but it doesn’t have to be.

Does it look familiar?  I used the frame element with the flowers that I had on my scrapbook layout and put it on a card front.  I used the same supplies as the scrapbook page just added the greeting stamp and the Flower Shop stamp set to decorate the envelope.

spring-card-insideThe flowers on the front are on Stampin’ Dimensionals as well as the frame.  But the flower on the inside of the card is just glued flat.  Here is a view from the side so you can see all the dimension in the card.

The girls loved this card.  It is a little bulky for mailing but if you see your mom for Mother’s Day you can just hand it to her.

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Spring Scrapbook Layout

We are in full spring mode around here and I’m so happy!  I love spring!  For my March scrapbook class I created this Welcome Spring two-page layout.

welcome-spring-scrapbook

It features the Afternoon Tea Designer Series paper – I used it for the border and the flowers. This is such a pretty pack of paper that I had kind of overlooked in the catalog.  It’s perfect for Spring and it may look a bit familiar – we had another pack in a past catalog with the same designs just a different color combination.

Let’s take a little closer look at this layout –

  • The base is Soft Suede 12×12 card stock
  • The Pear Pizzazz pieces are where your photos will go – either collage them or mat them or line them up all the way across the layout.
  • The border along the bottom is made with the Banner punch that was in the Sale-A-Bration brochure – it will be returning in our next annual catalog – so keep your eye out for it.  I punched pieces of the Afternoon Tea Designer Paper and randomly placed them along the bottom of the Pear Pizzazz pieces.  Over the top is a piece of the Burlap Ribbon – I cut mine into 4 strips.  I also added little flowers from the Punch Pack in the coordinating colors.  welcome-spring-border
  • I used the Pansy Punch was used to punch the flowers from the Designer paper and also from Pear Pizzazz card stock (those become the leaves underneath).  Curl them all a little.  Punch Soft Suede bitty flowers with the punch from the Punch Pack.  Layer the flowers – a bitty flower, designer paper flower and card stock flower then use a paper piercer to put holes in the center and add a silver mini brad to each.
  • Cut a frame with the On Film Framelits from Very Vanilla card stock for the left page.  Tie a piece of Linen Thread around the side of the frame.  I love Linen Thread.  welcome-spring-detail
  • I used the Two-Step Bird punch to make the bird and branch.  Sponge the Very Vanilla bird with Wisteria Wonder ink.  And an eye with the Soft Suede marker.  The branch is Pear Pizzazz.  I used some strands from the burlap ribbon to put under the birds beak – like he is carrying straw to build a nest.  Yeah – that’s what has been going on in my yard.
  • On the right page there is a journaling tag.  Use a 2″ strip of Very vanilla and punch with the Scallop Tag Topper punch.  Add a piece of Pear Pizzazz ribbon tied on with Linen Thread.  Add a strip of the designer paper and one of the flowers to the tag.  welcome-spring-tag
  • Add the photos and journaling to finish the page.

Now I need to print some photos to put on my layout.  I got some really good shots around the yard the last few days.

Hooray for Today

hooray-for-todayToday I have a trendy card featuring the Kaleidoscope product Suite from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog.  This card has a unique style – the front is cut short and a piece of Designer Paper is attached on the inside of the card base to show to the front when the card is closed.  Here is what the inside looks like

hooray-for-today2

Just something a little different to add interest to this fun card.  I tried to stick with the grey, blue, yellow colors in the product suite so it would be a more masculine card.  Here are some more notes for you –

  • Card base is Crushed Curry
  • Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper – the gray strip on the inside and the gray strip on the front, plus the gray circles – punched with the circle from the Punch Pack (***it’s on SALE this week), and the little tiny triangles are cut from one of the prints in the paper pack
  • Stamp the images from the Geometrical stamp set using Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Basic Gray – punch out with the Triangle Punch
  • Stamp Hooray for today on a piece of Whisper White card stock – then cut it with the Banner Framelits – then add one of the arrows on underneath the words
  • attach everything to the front of the card (well except the one strip that goes on the inside)

Enjoy!  Let me know what you think of this card and what you think about my blog changes.

Animal Talk – Dog Talk

I love my animals and the Animal Talk stamp set is one of my favorites.  I needed a “DOG” or animal card for a class last month and came up with this one that uses the new Hardwood stamp set (LOVE IT!!) and the Animal Talk stamp set.  I just changed my profile picture here on my blog – you can see it over on the right-hand side bar.  If you get this update by email – click on the title of the post to go to my blog and see the picture.  It is one of my favorites because I feel like it is so me.  Sitting outside with a bunch of dogs!  While only 2 of the dogs are actually mine.  The other two hung around our cabin the whole time we were there and joined us like they were part of the family.  This was several years ago but its still one of my favorite photos.

Here are the details of the card:

  • Crumb Cake card base
  • Crumb Cake layer stamped with the Hardwood Stamp – stamped in Crumb Cake ink
  • The words are stamped in Chocolate Chip ink
  • Tie a piece of the Chevron Natural Ribbon around the layer – actually you fold it around the card stock and then use a piece of Linen Thread to tie it together on the edge.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Apothecary framelit and stamp the dog image in Chocolate Chip ink on it – cut the right side off straight against the edge of the card.  I actually stamp first and then cut the shape with my Big Shot – then put it on the card and cut off the extra on the side.
  • I colored in the dogs spots with my Crumb Cake stampin’ write marker.

Watercolor Cabana Birthday

I combined the Happy Watercolor stamp set with Coastal Cabana and created a birthday card for one of my card classes last week.  I received a similar card as a swap (from Georgia) but it was Crisp Cantaloupe and I wanted to change up the color.  My group requested a feminine birthday card so this was it.

watercolor-coastal-cabana

Here are the basics for this card:

  • Chocolate Chip card base
  • Coastal Cabana front layer – stamp the Happy Birthday on the bottom with Chocolate Chip ink – then emboss with the Arrows Embossing folder above where you stamped – then punch a circle with the 2-1/2″ circle punch
  • Whisper White layer underneath – stamp the watercolor brush in Coastal Cabana, stamp the flower in Chocolate Chip, stamp the spots in Gold – attach it to the back of the Coastal Cabana piece so it shows through the circle
  • Tie a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine around the Coastal Cabana piece and tie in a bow – attach it to the front of the card
  • On the inside I added a piece of Whisper White and stamped a little bit in the corner.

watercolor-coastal-cabana2And you can stamp the corner of your envelope to match too – that’s always a fun addition.

Thanks for stopping by today – come back again tomorrow.
