The rest of day 3

Thursday at Leadership was a busy day – the opening general session was full of information.  Our afternoon was full of breakout classes and a Share Fair – this was something new and part of the My Way theme.  We had lots of breakout classes to choose from and the first one that I went to was Why Women Buy and presented by Carrie Cudney.  Women notice the details more than men and we examine all the available options before making a decision.  Women are more people oriented than men and are more verbal – women talk about people, about the people in their lives and they are what is most important in any situation.

Next we headed to the Share Fair – there were 8 or 9 different areas set up with various speakers touching on different topics.  Every 30 minutes we moved to a new area and listened to a new speaker.  We all chose different things to listen too based on our interests and what we needed for our own businesses.  I listened to Effective Business Tips – which had lots of good information that I shared at my downline meeting on Saturday.  My second session was on Online Business – some of this I am already doing and I learned a few things to add – so on my list is to try my hand at videos – I’m not sure when but at some point I hope add videos to my blog.    Another session was PR & Marketing and also Vendor Events.  I am participating in one of those this Sunday before the Super Bowl – I just sent the information out in my newsletter and it is also on my events schedule on my website.  I listened in on a few other sessions and then headed out to browse the Demonstrator Resource Center – Stampin’ Up! had lots of samples on display and then we had all of the demonstrator entries into the Stamping Contest.  Here are a few pictures –

Sale-A-Bration - Fresh Vintage and Everyday Enchantment

After are day of classes was done we regrouped and then headed out on the Riverwalk for dinner.  Except we got side tracked by a taping of Extreme Makeover Home Edition.  We had heard earlier in the week that one night we might see the Christmas lights turned back on for a special taping.  Well it turned out to be Thursday night and we decided to stay in the amphitheater as part of the taping. Its a special episode that will not air until December.  At the end Lee Greenwood sang  God Bless the USA.  The show was about wounded warriors and building them new homes.

they gave everyone flags to wave - Becky, Monika, Michele, Linda

It ended up being a long night and a really late dinner – we ended up at the open 24 hours Mexican restaurant – I don’t remember the name.

A long fun day.

Mixed Bunch card

One of the stamp sets that all the Leadership Attendees received was called Mixed Bunch.  I used it to create this card.

I wanted to use the little butterfly brads that are in the Brad Pack that you can get free during Sale-A-Bration.  There are five different brad designs in the pack and my favorite are the little Soft Suede butterflies.  This card has a Soft Suede card base and then a Crumb Cake layer.  On this layer I stamped the flower images from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the small medallion.  I also used the splatter from the French Foliage stamp set.  everything was stamped in Soft Suede ink.  The flowers were colored in with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.  I added the butterfly brads to the center of each flower.  On one flower I added a Jewelry Tag with the “thanks so much” from Tiny Tags stamp set.  And finished the front panel with a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding that I tied in a bow.

I’ll be back tomorrow.

Friend Treats

I made up some quick treats to give to my long distance friends that I will see at Leadership.  Through Stampin’ Up! I have been able to meet people from all over the US, Canada and other parts of the world – so I have friends in lots of places.  Most of them I may get to see only once a year at a Stampin’ Up! event, but we get to email each other and stay in touch through blogs, yahoo groups and facebook when we don’t get to see each other.  So I wanted to have something to give to some of my friends so I made up a few of these.

I used some of my Sale-A-Bration accessories for this one.  I wanted to create something to wrap around these cereal bars.  I used the largest label from the Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut a piece of Everyday Enchantment Designer series paper.  I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to punch a Very Vanilla flower – which I embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder (you can’t see that in the photo but it’s there.  Then I punched the solid flower with a coordinating card stock for the paper  – either Lucky Limeade or Calypso Coral.  In the center of the flower is one of the Everyday Enchantment brads and I also tied a piece of the Organdy Ribbon around each flower.    During Sale-A-Bration you can get all of these for free – Designer paper, the brad and ribbon pack and also the stamp set that coordinates with these – you can get all three for free as a hostess bundle option with a $400 workshop or choose one for each $50 that you spend.  Sale-A-Bration starts on Jan. 24th and runs through the end of March.

I hope my friends like these little treats.

Today is the final day of the Leadership Conference and Saturday I’ll be staying for a Regional conference where I’ll get to see some more friends that didn’t attend Leadership.  It’s an all day event with make&takes and presentations.

Sweet Summer Butterfly

Today is the last day of Sale-A-Bration.  Don’t miss out on the free stamps you can get.  Today I have one more card – ok actually two cards to show you that use the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Sweet Summer.  This card was designed by Stampin’ Up! and I used these last couple of weeks in some of my workshops and classes.  I created two different versions of the card.  And last night the girls actually made one of each size which was kind of fun.  I think we had such a good time last night stamping and chatting we didn’t realize what time it was – I ended up getting home about midnight.

The card on the left is a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card and the one on the right is 5-1/2″ tall and 4-1/4″ wide.  Both use the same supplies the only difference is the top is cut off to make one a square.  Sometimes you just need a square project and this size card will fit in the medium size envelope and is really a nice size.

The card base is Peach Parfait.  You know what this color reminds me of?  My bedroom at my parents house – yes my bedroom was painted peach.  That room isn’t that color anymore and now its my dad’s office but at one point in time it was peach.  I used the background stamp En Francais stamped in Peach Parfait ink.  And I have no idea what the stamp says but it looks pretty.  If you have trouble getting a good impression across this whole stamp what I do is ink up the stamp and lay it on the table on top of my grid paper, then carefully place my card stock on it, then fold the grid paper over it so you can rub across the whole thing and get the ink evenly on your entire piece of card stock.  Lift the paper up and the card stock off carefully.  It works well every time.

In the center is a strip of Old Olive that was stamped with the little stems/leaves image from Sweet Summer.  On each side is a piece of Melon Mambo that was punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. (Sometimes I call this the ribbon border because I forget the full name – it’s such a long name).

Then use the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die and cut the larger full butterfly from the First Edition Specialty Paper and the smaller full butterfly from Melon Mambo card stock.  Stamp the tiny bunch of flowers image in Melon Mambo ink on the Melon Mambo butterfly.  Stamp the open flower image in Peach Parfait on the First Edition butterfly.  Layer them together and tie Linen Thread around the center.  Add a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock punched with the Jewelry Tag punch and stamped with “friends” from Tiny Tags.  Tie it off in a bow or knot.  Add the butterflies to the front of the card.

You can get this Sweet Summer stamp set free if you place a $50 order today.  You won’t be able to buy these sets afterwards so get them while you can.  Let’s see this is what will be gone after tomorrow – So Happy for You, Punch Bunch, Sweet Summer and Bliss stamp sets, Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack and Designer Paper and Quick Accents pack, the So Much To Sale-A-Brate Digital Content CD (a must have if you own My Digital Studio), and the Notes Chalkboard Decor Elements.  Click HERE to go to my website and then click on SHOP NOW.
