May 12, 2017 | Cards, Graduation, Retired List |
Graduation season is here are you ready with your Graduation cards. My two oldest are done with school and graduations and my youngest still has another year of college – so in my mind I wasn’t thinking that I needed any graduation cards this year. But I was wrong! I actually needed a whole stack – I still had extended family and friends with kids graduating from both High School and College. I created this card and was really pleased with how it turned out. I decided to stick with a black/white/gold theme since I had various schools and both boys and girls – this theme would work for them all.

I used several retiring products on this card – probably things you already have on hand. And then snuck in a little sneak peek on the envelope – that’s a new stamp set coming out June 1st!
Here is a list of the products I used and the retiring items are marked with (R):
- Thick Whisper White card stock
- Basic Black card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Whisper White Medium envelope
- 1″ circle punch
- Banner Triple punch
- Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (R)
- Gold Sequin Trim (R)
- Mini Paper Clips Combo Pack (R)
- B.Y.O.P. stamp set (R)
- Basic Black ink
- Happy Birthday Gorgeous (coming June 1)
A tip on making this card – punch the various patterns into 1″ circles and randomly attach to the Whisper White layer – letting the circles hang over the edges in places. Trim off the over hang and uses those pieces to fill in gaps along the edge.
I used just the black & white side of this paper but you could mix in the pink sides too.
Have fun – or use this idea with a different paper – bright colors perhaps and make a birthday card, or soft colors and make a baby card. An easy and versatile design.
Have a great day!

May 9, 2017 | Eastern Palace Suite |
As we get closer to the end of the 2016-2017 Annual catalog and the 2017 Occasions catalog the anticipation of new products is making everyone very excited. Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators have a perk of being able to see and order select products early. Those of us that went to the OnStage event in April were able to order a selection of items in April and now all demos can order from a larger selection in May. But guess what there are a few items that customers can get this month too! It’s the Eastern Palace Suite – and there are two special bundles available that include brand new products, new In-Colors and Free products!
I’ve been playing with this bundle and have discovered that it is going to be a very versatile set with a ton of possibilities! The combination of the stamps and the thinlit dies will create so many different designs. I want to sit down and see just how many combinations I can create with the dies alone. That will be another post. For today I want to show you that the stamp set images and the Designer Paper work so well together. You can stamp the images on the paper in the colors that you want and change/enhance the look of it.
Here I took the Designer Paper (left photo) and stamped on it with two of the images in the stamp set and two of our new In-Colors – Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide. The star image in the large spaces and the little diamond in the small spaces.
I used the stamp piece to create this triangle box project.

I used the Eastern Palace Thinlit dies to create the Dapper Denim flower. You can fill this box with treats to give to someone special. Use ribbon to tie it shut – no adhesive needed. Here is a diagram of the box – which is basically just a card with some extra score lines.

Here are some more cards created with this bundle

Did you receive your April Paper Pumpkin kit?

It’s full of product and Sara created some fun watercolor cards for everyone to make following the directions in the kit and her video. But for today’s post I’m joining in with a group of talented demonstrators who have created some other ideas using items from this kit. One of the wonderful things about the Paper Pumpkin community are all the different ideas that everyone comes up with. So join us today as we bring you some more ideas for this month’s A Sara Thing Paper Pumpkin kit.

If you aren’t a Paper Pumpkin subscriber you can sign up HERE. Sign up by May 10 to receive the May kit.
I made two different cards. For this first card I wanted to try doing something “different” with the acrylic flowers. I used a piece of watercolor paper (you can use a piece from the kit) and a spritzer filled with some water and Rich Razzleberry reinker. I took some paper towels and placed the watercolor paper down and placed the flowers on top (I put the glittery side face down). Then spritzed over the top.

Then carefully remove the flowers. Since they are acrylic just wipe them off to clean them.

My first photo I spritzed a lot and decided it was too much so this second one was a little bit less. Once it dried I used the watercolor pencil from my kit and added some color to each flower.

Then use the paint brush dipped in some water to smooth it out throughout the petals. Repeat for each flower.

I added some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around this piece before adding it to the front of my card. You can use the base from the kit or create your own. And be sure to add a Whisper White liner on the inside of the card. The greeting is stamped on a Whisper White banner piece. And finish with one of the acrylic flowers.

I hope you like this different twist on how to use those flowers.
I made another quick card with some additional supplies using the technique from the kit – I just create a rainbow on my watercolor piece using the watercolor pencils, the paint brush and water.

The card base is Rich Razzleberry. I also used the Owl Builder punch to punch out some tiny hearts which I colored with the watercolor pencil and blended with the brush. Finish with some stamping. Sweet and easy.
If you live local to me join me for some stamping this week – Wednesday 4/26 – Paper Pumpkin Craft night and Friday 4/28 – Card Makers Class. You can find details and RSVP on my website HERE.
Be sure to hop along and see the rest of the ideas. Next up is my friend Sue Plote – check out her creative ideas.

Apr 22, 2017 | Blog Tour, Cards |

I’m participating today in a Blog Hop for Autism Awareness. Our challenge is to create a card using the Autism colors of Red, Blue and Yellow. Every person participating in this blog hop will be sharing with you a project as well as a fact about Autism. And if you are able please donate to the “Stamped with Love Team” to raise money for the Autism Speaks organization. Autism Speaks is an autism advocacy organization in the United States that sponsors autism research and conducts awareness and outreach activities aimed at families, governments, and the public.
You can donate at the link here.
Autism Fact: As early as infancy, a baby can begin to show the three hallmark features of autism: communication challenges, impaired social interactions, and repetitive behavior.
Now on to my project. I used a brand new stamp set that will be coming out in the 2017-2018 Annual catalog that starts on June 1st. It is called Ribbon of Courage.

I stamped the floral ribbon in Basic Black ink and then colored it in with my Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Marina Mist.
The back ground is made from the Stitched Shapes Framelits – I cut squares in each of the colors and cut them to fit together and create the background on my card.
The words are from the Me = Grateful stamp set which is on the retiring list.

Be sure to hop along to the rest of the members of the Autism Awareness Blog Hop, see their creations and learn more facts about Autism.

Apr 20, 2017 | Big Shot, Cards, Retired List, Thinlits |
For this card I’ve combined several products from the retiring list. I hate to waste pieces of the specialty designer paper like this one from Affectionately Yours collection with copper embossed elements on it.

To maximize a piece of 12×12 paper I often cut it into 3×4″ pieces and use that on a card front. I stamped on the background piece with the flowers in the stamp set – it’s Watermelon Wonder ink on Watermelon Wonder card stock. Then add the piece of Designer series paper to the front.
I used the Crazy About You stamp set to stamp the Mother’s Day sentiment on a strips of Whisper White card stock. Then added that along the front of the card. Finish with a die cut of Copper Foil using the Hello You Thinlits.
Be sure to order these products before they all sell out:
- Love & Affection stamp set pg. 45
- Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper pg. 172 SOLD OUT
- Crazy About You stamp set pg. 70
- Hello You Thinlits pg. 192
- Watermelon Wonder card stock & ink pg. 169
