Farmhouse Christmas Day 1

Earlier in the fall I held my Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat.  The theme was Farmhouse Christmas and I used that suite of products for the little gifts and all the projects we made.  I don’t think that I ever shared them here on my blog. Many of the projects were inspired from other other demonstrator ideas or from decor or crafty ideas I found online. Places like Pinterest and Instagram and magazines provide lots of inspiration.  I have 12 different projects to share so I thought I would do a 12 days of Farmhouse Christmas!

So here we go with day 1 – this card idea came from a non-Stampin’ Up! card that I found online.  It’s similar to another layout that I’ve used quite a bit lately.

For this card I’ve used the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series paper, Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine, and the Galvanized Buttons from the Festive Farmhouse Suite.  The sentiment is from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set – I just love the size of this and the mixed fonts.  I think the Sprig punch also fits well in this suite of products although you will find it with the Joyous Noel suite in the Holiday Catalog.

Supply List

  • Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper
  • Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine
  • Galvanized Buttons
  • Merry Christmas to All stamp set
  • Sprig Punch
  • Very Vanilla Thick Card Stock
  • Very Vanilla Card Stock
  • Memento Black ink
  • Mossy Meadow Card Stock
  • Mini glue dots
  • Paper Snips

For this card the measurements are

  • Very Vanilla Thick card stock 11″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
  • Very Vanilla card stock 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″

Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the front of the Very Vanilla Thick card base.  Stamp the sentiment on the Very Vanilla layer at an angle in the corner of the card stock.  Then adhere that layer to the front of the card so that the words are straight and the layer hangs off the edge of the card.  Use Paper Snips to trim off the excess around the edge of the card front.  Punch three sprigs and attach with glue dots to the card.  The button is also added with a glue dot.

This one actually turned out to be my favorite card from the 8 that we made.  It’s another card design that would be easy to switch out the designer paper for other designs.

Country Lane Thank You

I hope that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday with your family.  My three boys were home with us for a few days.  Then on Thanksgiving day we drove to my parents house and enjoyed the afternoon/evening with them and my brother’s family.  It sure was nice to all be together.  Now my boys are all gone again – back at work and school.  But luckily it won’t be long now before they are home for Christmas.

My card today uses the Country Lane Designer Series Paper from the Holiday catalog.  It has pretty imagery and colors but for this card I cut it into little squares so I could use a bunch of designs at once.  This would be a fun layout to try with other papers for different seasons too.

The Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss are are really beautiful color combination.  And the new Tin Tile Embossing folder is one of my new favorites.  If you don’t have it be sure to get it!

Supply List

  • Country Lane Designer Series Paper
  • Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder
  • 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim
  • Blackberry Bliss card stock
  • Blackberry Bliss ink
  • Crushed Curry card stock
  • Crushed Curry ink
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Stitched Shapes Framelits dies
  • Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • A Big Thank You stamp set
  • Whisper White Envelopes
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Here is a look at the inside of the card.  If my card base is a dark color I like to add a coordinating white or vanilla card stock layer on the inside.  For this one I used white and then added a strip of the Designer Series paper to match.

Thanks for All You Do

Thanks for all you do.  Yes that’s something we need to say all the time.  There are so many people to thank for the various things they do in our lives.  I’ve been trying to be good about sending out thank you cards this year.  Making the cards isn’t the problem – its writing the note inside, addressing them, getting the stamp on them and getting them in the mail box.

So when 2018 started I challenged myself to be better – I started doing #mailacardmonday – every Monday I mail out cards – sometimes it might be just one and other times it might be 10 or 20.  I had a few slips where instead of Mail a Card Monday it was Try Again Tuesday!  And last week not only was it a holiday (which normally I still try to have them in my box) but it was pouring rain and cold – really POURING rain – so I didn’t even try to go outside.  So my cards went out on Wednesday and more on Friday.  But today I’m trying to get back on schedule to finish out the year and plan to keep it up in 2019.

Today’s card is a sweet Thank You card.  Really a very easy design that could be adapted with any designer series paper for any time of year.

The pumpkin paper is from the Toil & Trouble Designer Series paper pack from the Halloween Suite in the Holiday Catalog.  It was a perfect pattern for a fall card after Halloween.  Cut the paper into 4″ squares and you can get 9 cards out of one sheet of 12×12 paper.  I added one of of the metallic Leaves Trinkets from the Annual Catalog tied on with Linen thread for added touch of fall.  The stamp set is Friendly Expressions also in our Annual Catalog.

Supply List

  • Friendly Expressions stamp set
  • Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper
  • Early Espresso card stock
  • Cajun Craze card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Linen Thread
  • Leaves Trinkets
  • Early Espresso ink
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

Now I think I’ll get out some of my Christmas paper and try this same idea to make a stack of Christmas cards – what do you think?

Trick or Tweet Door Hanger

Today I have a cute project for you using the Trick or Tweet stamp set.  I designed a door hanger box that you can fill with a treat and leave on a neighbors door or even on your kids bedroom doors.  This box has lots of potential for more than just Halloween.  On my At Monika’s Place Facebook Page on Monday October 22, 2018 I did a Facebook Live where I showed how to create this door hanger.  Be sure to visit my page and watch it.

I used a piece of Basic Black card stock for the base and my trimmer to score and cut to create my box.  The piece is 8″ x 8″.  Then score on one side at 2-3/4″, 3-3/4″, 6-1/2″, and 7-1/2″.  Now turn so the large section is at the top of your trimmer and score at 1″ all the way across.  Then move to the 4-1/2″ mark and cut starting at 2-3/4″ out to the end at 8″ – don’t cut through that large section that is at the top of the trimmer.  Next trim away the rest of the piece along the 2-3/4″ score line.  You will also cut your tabs at the bottom and remove the small piece on the end.  Here is a diagram to show you (and watch my Facebook Live too).  To create a hole for the door knob use the 2-1/4″ circle punch.

Supply List

  • Trick or Tweet Stamp set
  • Basic Black card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Best Route Designer Series Paper
  • Pineapple Punch ribbon
  • Memento ink
  • Stampin’ Blends: Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate
  • Starburst punch
  • 2-1/4″ circle punch
  • Detailed Trio punch
  • 1-3/4″ punch
  • 1/2″ circle punch
  • 1/8″ Handheld Punch
  • Tear & Tape
  • Black Baker’s Twine
  • Mini Dimensionals

I used Memento ink to stamp my image and colored it in with the Stampin’ Blends.  A little trick for the tiny pumpkin use the 1/2″ circle punch to punch it out instead of cutting.  I popped it up on a mini dimensional.  Here is a closer look.

I filled my box with a peanut butter pumpkin.  If my boys were still living at home I’d hang one on each of their bedroom doors for Halloween.

Bat Brownie Treats

Someone a while back told me about Bat Brownies that they found at the store – so I wanted to find them an use them to make a treat with the Trick or Tweet stamp set and the little elephant dressed like a bat.  It took me a while to find them but I did locate them at the big W store.  And now recently I’ve seen them in several stores.  I think I was just too far ahead of Halloween to begin with.

I basically just created a box that wrapped around the brownie.  Our Grid paper is perfect to help create a box for a treat.  Lay what you want to cover on the paper and trace around it for the height and width.  Flip it on its side to determine the depth.  Be sure you include a flap that overlaps for the adhesive to hold it together.  I normally start with scraps to do my first measurements and then adjust before cutting for my final piece.   After getting the card stock sleeve set just right, add a piece of Designer Series paper around it and then add ribbon and a tag to finish.

Supply List

  • Trick of Tweet stamp set
  • Granny Apple Green card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Nature’s Poem Designer Series paper (I used the Blackberry Bliss pattern)
  • Memento Black ink
  • Stampin’ Blends: Smoky Slate, Blackberry Bliss, Granny Apple Green
  • Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon
  • 2-1/4″ Circle punch
  • Grid Paper
  • Paper Trimmer

Now go find bat brownies and make your own little treats.  Enjoy!
