Look at this cute card!! Guess what it is made out of – it’s a Big Shot die – do you know which one?
The Petal Cone die in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. I originally saw this idea as a swap card at the Leadership Conference that one of my roommates had received. Then I saw other versions of it on Stampin’ Connection (a demonstrator only online community). Mine uses a little bit of several of the different versions that I saw.
To make this cute card cut one petal cone from Crumb Cake card stock. Cut off the tab on the side. Next I folded it in half and ran it through the Big Shot inside the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. And then I sponged the edge with Soft Suede ink.
Now cut a piece of Whisper White card stock on the petal cone die making sure to get one of the triangles in the cone shape. Cut off any of the excess keeping just the triangle. Sponge the edges with Soft Suede ink and glue that on the inside of the card.
Next cut 2 scallop half-circles and one banner from Pretty in Pink card stock. I stamped “happy birthday” in the center of the banner. The stamp set is Family Phrases stamp set. Fold the banner under at the ends of the greeting and then back out again. Using the Soft Suede ink sponge the edges of all the Pretty in Pink pieces. I smooch spritzed the two half scallops with the Vanilla Shimmer to give them a frosty look.
The best way to add the half scallops – or in this case they become ice cream scoops – open the card and add one to the back piece on the inside. Then close the card and add the second one to the front top of the card so that they line up. That gives you an ice cream scoop on the front and on the inside of the card. Attach the banner with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the front of the cone.
The cherry on top is one of the Brights buttons – the big Real Red one with a piece of Pretty In Pink Taffeta ribbon tied through in a knot.
This card was part of my Birthday class last week – the Big Shot makes it really a quick card. I put this one inside a clear envelope to give to my niece for her 4th birthday.
Have a great day!
I’ve been debating about this die. So your card will fit in an A2 envelope?
