The new Decorative Masks are a versatile item in our catalog. We have had some others in the past so if you still have those try them for various techniques too. These new masks have some smaller designs than our retired masks.
For this card I used one of the new masks – it actually coordinates with the Eastern Palace Suite. The large medallion mask is perfect for this technique using the sponge daubers. Use multiple colors and blend them together from light to dark or dark to light using the mask.
My Thailand swap was the same concept – I posted it earlier. The colors on this card are Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Berry Burst. This particular card idea came from one I saw online. I used it for a team meeting where we learned about the embossing paste and masks.
The hardest part of this card is just making sure your panel and your mask stay still while you are doing the sponging. So I use washi tape to help with that. First roll up a small piece on the back of your panel and stick that to your work surface. Then place your mask where you want it. Then use washi tape to hold the mask in place. Now use your ink and your sponge daubers to add color. Once you are done lift the mask and “tada” – you have a new creation. Each one will look a bit different as the colors blend in various places.
