Love Bots

Did you notice in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog on page 17 the Love Bots?

The photo is pretty small so I didn’t think much about them at first.  But then my friend Jeanette ordered some for her twin boys so I got to see them in person.  Oh my!  These are the cutest things and so much BIGGER than I expected them to be.  I didn’t take the time to really read the measurements or look at them because my boys are big and we don’t do Valentine’s.  But if you have young children these are PERFECT for you and your child!

There Girl and Boy Love Bots and each pack includes 30 die-cut valentine boxes – 10 each of 3 designs.  There are 30 clear round closure stickers and little die cut hearts on a circle that you can use for a tag or decoration.  The boy greetings are: Best Friends; Hello, Human; and You’re out of this world!.  The girl greetings are: Totally thinking of you friend; Hello, Human; and I lug you.

Have your child fill out the to: and from: while the box is flat.  Then fold it up, stick something in side and close it with the clear sticker.  Super quick, cute and easy!

Here are a few ideas that I did with mine (Jeanette was so nice she let me have a few!).

put a cookie inside a cello bag

add a lollipop

dress it up with ribbon

I used one of the Stampin’ Up! cellophane bags and put a cookie inside.  Sealed it with a piece of tape and put that inside the valentine box.

I folded the bottom flap so I could punch a hole in the bottom using my crop-a-dile.  Then insert a lollipop inside the valentine box.  To cover the extra hole I just stuck one of the little heart die cuts over it.

If you want to dress it up a bit then tie a piece of ribbon around the top or the box, or punch holes and create a ribbon handle.  For mine I tied a piece of the Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain ribbon around the top of the box.  Then I used one of the little heart die cuts and punched a hole in it.  I tied that to my ribbon with a piece of crochet thread.   There is just a pack of candy inside the box and then it is sealed shut with the clear circle sticker that comes in the kit.

Now I wish my boys were little again so we could make these for their friends at school.    It would be fun to decorate a matching shoebox to hold all the valentines in.  I know we used to do that every year when they were younger.

If you would like to order the LOVE BOTS for your child for Valentine’s Day you can visit my online store on my website – click the SHOP NOW button after you get there – www.monika.stampinup.net.  Or you can email me or call me and I’ll put the order in for you.

I figured out why I was so cold last night – the heat on the main level of our house isn’t working.  This morning when I came down it was freezing so I went to adjust the thermostat and it said is was 61 degrees which means it wasn’t on at all because it should be staying around 67 at night.  I told Greg and he’ll have to check on it when he gets home from work.

Have a great day! And come back to visit me again!

Heart Treat Holder

The Heart Shaped Treat holders from Stampin’ Up! are really cute.  I made a  card for my Valentine class on Friday that uses these cute little holders.

I used a card design from a friend of mine – Michelle Scileppi – she designed this for the circle treat holder and made it at Christmas with the Snow Buddies set.   I wanted to use the heart shaped treat cup and make a valentine card.

This card has a short front – I cut 2″ off the front.  Then created a slider tag that lets the candy come out on the inside – so you don’t have to tear up the card to get it out.

Something else that I did was create a frame for the heart treat cup.  I created the frame by first punching a Full Heart out of a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.  Then I used the Movers & Shapers die and the Punch Windows Heart.  Place the negative part of the Chocolate Chip card stock – the part with the heart shape punched out.  Place this on the Punch Windows Heart die so that it is centered as best you can.  When you cut it creates the frame that fits around the heart cup.  I should have taken a picture of that part.

I also used the Punch Windows Modern label to frame the  “happy valentine’s day” that is stamped on Pretty in Pink card stock and punched with the Modern Label punch.

The inside also has a piece of Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper punched with the Scallop Trim Border bunch and then another piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.

Before you attach the paper and heart cup to the front of the card you need to punch the hole for the trap door.  I found an easy way to get the hole in the right spot.  Punch the Full Heart in the Sending Love Designer Series paper – I did this by pushing the punch all the way up from the bottom and the flush against the right side.  Then just lay this on the front panel of the card but don’t glue it down.  Now take the 3/4″ punch and slide it in from the side and punch inside the punched out heart on the designer paper – this will position the hole inside the treat cup so the candy can come out.  I hope that made sense.

You need small candy like M&Ms or the little cinnamon hearts so they fit in the treat cup and pass through the hole.

The heart treat cup is only glued on the front to the back of the Designer paper.  Don’t remove the adhesive backing from the heart treat cup.  When you glue the Designer paper to the front only glue on three sides – leave the right side open so that the tag can slide in and close up the hole.

You can order the Heart Shaped treat holders and the Heart punch directly from me – visit my online store by clicking the SHOP NOW button on my website.

This was a fun card and my class on Friday was a lot of fun.  The other projects we made were these:

I Love You Beary Much – boy

I made another version of my Build-A-Bear card from yesterday – this one is my “boy” version – it uses the little boy bear.

My Build-a-Bear, Bella is modeling again.  The supplies are the same as yesterdays card.  I tried to use more Real Red and Chocolate Chip instead of the Pretty in Pink.

The shirt and shoes are paper-pieced.  I stamped the bear image using black stazon ink onto the patterned paper and then cut out the pieces that I wanted to use.  In this case the shirt and then the shoes.

I used my aquapainter to color my bear – using the classic ink.

He is holding a hand full of hearts to give to someone he loves!

I have another post coming right behind this one showing a scrapbook page I made last night with My Digital Studio.

Thanks for checking in today.

I Love You Beary Much

Finally I sat down to work on a challenge card – I had intended to do it earlier in the week but the week is getting away from me.  I haven’t used my Build-A-Bear set recently so I decided to pull that out and make a card that fit two different challenges again.  First is the sketch challenge from the Card Positioning Blog and second the Late Night Stampers group challenge – which was to create a Valentine (I forgot about the masculine twist – so I’ll try to make a boy card to match it a little bit later).

The sketch looks like this

And here is my card – Bella my bear is showcasing it for you!

Create with Connie & Julie – Challenge

It’s the first Challenge for the Create with Connie & Julie – Occasions Edition class.  Our challenge this week is a theme challenge – Valentines Day Cards.  During our preview week we are featuring the following products from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog: I (Heart) Hearts stamp set, I (Love) Love Wheel, and the Corduroy buttons. Here is my entry for this weeks challenge:

I used the I (Love) Love Jumbo Wheel – it was wheeled on the background of the card using VersaMark ink and covered with clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  This card features a heart shaped “window” that I made using sticky strip and clear micro beads.  You need the love bird image (from Love You Much stamp set) stamped in Black StazOn ink (except the heart color with a Real Red Stampin’ Write marker) and colored with an Aquapainter and Real Red ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock. To get the two shades of color – color the birds once with the  aquapainter and Real Red ink – let it dry and then go back over the wings again with more color until you have the desired shade.   Then you need the front of the window which is made with Basic Black card stock and the Heart from the Stampin’ Up! Punch Windows Magnetic Movers & Shapers die for the Big Shot.  I used the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Die and instead of cutting a full card I placed the Heart in the open area and covered it with the Black card stock.  The edges of the black square are distressed with the tool from the cutter kit.  Once you have these two pieces then you can create the window.

On the Whisper White card stock use Sticky Strip to cover the image – place the strips right next to each other to cover the entire image that will show through the punch out window.  Next place the Basic Black card stock piece on top of the white piece position so the image shows through the cut out as desired.  Place this inside a Powder Pal tray and sprinkle Clear Micro Beads on the window – pressing them into the sticky strip until it is completely covered.  Shake off any extra beads that didn’t stick.

To finish the outside of the card I added small dots with a White Gel Pen around the heart and in the corners.  In the top left corner of the black square I punched out with the Horizontal Slot punch and then tied a piece of the Red Polka Dot Ribbon through it.  Attach the square to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish the inside of the card cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and punch with the Full Heart punch from the bottom corner.  While it looks like I stamped directly on the back of the card I actually stamped on an extra piece of Real Red card stock and glued it behind the window.  It was much easier to get it in the right place that way.  I added the dots with the Real Red Stampin’ Write marker.  The “love you much” is from the new Well Scripted stamp set and the small “LOVE” heart is from the I (Heart) Hearts stamp set both are stamped with Real Red ink.

To see what the rest of the team did with this challenge visit the Create with Connie & Julie site.  If you haven’t signed up for the class do it right away so that you’ll continue to have access to more wonderful ideas.

Thanks for stopping by today.  And you may have noticed I highlighted all the supplies in red instead of re-writing them as a list – I hope that’s ok.

more on the Hugs & Kisses Holder

Hi everyone!  Yesterday was so exciting…. a record number of visits to my blog and lots of comments trying to win the free pass to Create with Connie & Julie – check back tomorrow to see who won.

This is my original Hugs & Kisses holder – Click Here – for the original post.

Based on the comments I received I wanted to show you some more pictures of the Hugs & Kisses Holder project.  I used the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die (#115950).  I used my Paper Cutter with a scoring blade to score – here are some more pictures so you can see the scoring more clearly.

score on all the dashed lines and punch 1/8" holes at the four circles in the corners

Here is what it looks like on the paper cutter - line up the track in between the scallops on each side.

This is how you line up the diagonal - put the corners in the track and then start your scoring blade where the other lines cross (inside corner) and go out to the outside corner.

Some people also asked about doing this without the Scallop Square Die – and YES you can – any square will work – just divide each side into thirds and score it like a tic-tac-toe board.  I decided to make a larger one today – it takes longer because if you want the edges scalloped you’ll need to do that (the Big Shot did all that work for you when you use the scallop square die) with a border/corner punch.

large Hugs & Kisses holder

My large Hugs & Kisses holder started as a 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ square of Real Red card stock.  I used the new Scallop Trim Border and Scallop Trim Corner punch.  With this size square it worked out perfectly with 18 scallops on each side – so divide by three – I scored after every 6 scallops.

I used the Full Heart punch to punch hearts from the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper.  I also used the Heart to Heart punch.  I added buttons and brads.  I also used the Big Shot with the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die and the Heart from the Punch Windows dies to create the larger heart.

Here are a couple more pictures.

I hope that answers all the questions and show you another option on how to make a large version.  The small one is quick and perfect if you need a small something for Valentine’s Day.  The larger one you can give to your sweetheart!

And we have snow here in Georgia!  My Christmas tree is still sitting on my back porch and it is starting to get a dusting of snow.  The kids got out of school early and we are still waiting to hear about tomorrow.  There is ice forming on the roads and the main roads outside our neighborhood have already had gravel/sand put on them.  I’m still waiting on Greg to get home – he decided to stop and get gas for the car before coming home.

We don’t get much snow so I haven’t really looked closely at a snow flake – but today I had on a black coat and went to get the mail and snow flakes were falling on me.  I looked and saw perfect little six point star snowflakes – it was so cool – they were tiny – but more than just little blobs – actual little snowflakes!  And they were so pretty.

I found a new blog today (1/9) called Our Creative Corner and they had a 3-D challenge so I added this to their challenge link.

Thanks for stopping by!
