It happened at 8:24 this morning I checked my blog and guess what it said:
Blog Stats
That was fast – I was expecting it to be at the end of the week. Somebody must really like me! Now I have to decide on my blog candy. I’m at the middle school this morning selling extra year books. I’ll post later today on the blog candy and plan to have the project tutorial up from the blog tour. Gotta run….

If you need a quick project for Mother’s Day for a gift or table center piece try this idea I learned this weekend at our retreat. Everyone that came brought a project for everyone else to make and this one came from Pat Crown. We cut a piece of Vellum card stock into the shape of a lamp shade and then used the scallop edge punch to carefully go along the curved bottom edge. When you do this you have to line up just a few scallops at a time as you go around the curve it takes a bit of practice. The top of the lamp shade was stamped with the vie from the Fresh Cuts stamp set and the rest of the shade with the small flower image. Use a piece of sticky strip to adhere the shade together in the back by overlapping the edges.
Next we created a molded flower by punching several layers of Whisper White card stock and one piece of Designer Series Paper with the 5-Petal Flower Punch. These were glued together with the Tombo Multi Purpose Adhesive (in the green bottle). Then mold the flower into shape with your fingers and let it dry. A rhinestone brad was added to the center. Wrap ribbon around the shade and attach the flower through the ribbon. You could either attach the flower to the shade with a glue dot so it stays in place or punch a hole with the paper piercer and put the brad all the way through the shade.
The shade sits on top of a water goblet with a small votive candle inside. You could make these as center pieces for tables at a Mother’s Day Tea, baby or bridal shower or other special event. Make multiple shades for various seasons/occasions and switch them out as needed.
My Mini Mother’s Day class is tonight and I have to finish up the prep work. We are making the bookmark that I showed a few days ago and two other projects. One is a flower pot card which I had planned on for the class and then it ended up being one of the projects we made this weekend too. The other is a little Top Note purse box that we made on Saturday night as part of our STARZ meeting. I decided to use it as the third project – we will stamp a piece of tissue paper to wrap up the bookmark and stick inside this cute purse. I’ll share pictures later or these projects.
Stay dry – we have had lots of rain and there is more to come. Tomorrow I’ll do a bird update. And mark your calendar for May 15th and 16th for the next Blog Tour. My featured set will be Thoughts & Prayers and I already have ideas in the works for the tour and for an upcoming class. Come back for a visit!

Robin feeding 2 babies
It’s a beautiful day here for raising babies! Baby birds that is. All the mommy and daddy birds are busy feeding their growing babies. I can see the bluebirds and robins all day long. I see the towhee’s quite often but usually hear their call even when I can’t see them – since my office is in the front of the house which is where their nest is I hear them out there calling all day. I finally decided that the little chickadee is just that – little and fast and that’s why I don’t see them much they zip in and out of the bird house so fast you don’t always notice them. I did get a few good pictures – the robin has 2 babies for sure and they are getting big too.

Robin feeding 2 babies
I had a visit from a Red-Headed Woodpecker today but didn’t get a picture. I’m keeping my eye out and camera ready for his return. I also saw the hawk today – he landed in the neighbors yard and then flew through while I was outside. It’s probably best for him to stay away right now – I’d hate for him to get one of the baby birds – yes they do eat birds. There are lots of chipmunks around too –
some are really small so they must be the young ones. Aspen and Magnolia are alert for those chipmunks – so far they have all gotten away. Yesterday was a close call – Aspen was under the deck running back and forth to either side of the little shed that we have under our deck. Magnolia was on the top of the yard by the gate near the driveway. The chipmunk outsmarted Aspen and snuck through a hole under the porch to get back to the top of the yard – but then right over to Magnolia! Luckily Magnolia was looking the other way and the chipmunk made a quick turn ran out the fence and into his hole right as Magnolia turned around. She stared at the hole for awhile trying to figure out what just happened.
I’m working on some stamping projects now so I’ll post again later today or tonight.
Thanks for stopping by!

It’s raining, it’s snowing, the wind is really blowing…….We have SNOW in Georgia! So it isn’t like what everyone up north gets – ours is melting as soon as it hits the ground and it is mixed with rain – but if it keeps up all day (100% precipitation for today) and cools off like they say (into the 20s tonight) we might have snow on the ground by the end of today! I tried to take a picture but it just looked like rain – I’ll try again later and if it does stick to the ground I’ll take one then. Not a big deal for most people but we rarely get snow so it is a big deal for us. I’ll be posting again later with a stamping project and sending out my monthly newsletter – some new products are available today. Check back in a little while I’m working on all of that now.
Happy Snow Day!
