UDI Color Challenge 22

Yep – its another MDS page – I know I’m showing a lot of those lately.  But you know what the cleanup from creating a My Digital Studio scrapbook page is so fast – just save and shut the laptop!  Plus it is a totally portable workspace – so on Sunday night I sat downstairs in the basement with my husband to watch the Super Bowl.  And I used My Digital Studio to create my project for week 22 of the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge.

Some nice masculine colors this time.  I have been missing my oldest son Kyle (he is away at college and doesn’t call me quite as much as I would like him to) so I created a scrapbook page featuring a picture of him after the Convocation Ceremony at Georgia Tech this past August.  That’s the GT Rat cap that he is wearing all the freshman got one at the ceremony and part of the ceremony were the traditions on how to personalize your hat.  I’ll have to check if he ever did that.  Here is a quick run down on what they are supposed to do –

The Georgia Tech Rat Cap Diagram. On the underside of the bill, write RAT in the center of the bill. Write your name above RAT and your hometown below RAT. On the left of RAT, write your incoming major and on the right, write your expected graduation year. On the back of the hat, write TO HELL WITH GEORGIA. If you are planning on co-oping, circle the tip of the cap.

For every football game write TECH above the opponents name with the respective score. If Tech loses, write the game score upside down. If Tech wins, write the score rightside up.

I looked through the different Designer Templates that I had in My Digital Studio and found this one – I switched out all the colors and Designer Papers to fit the color challenge but kept the layout of the page the same as the template.  I did add a digital stamp from the Bliss set in the So Much to Sale-a-brate CD – you can get it for free during the Sale-A-Bration promotion going on right now.  So it is a great time to purchase My Digital Studio if you haven’t already done it.

This is also my page for this week for Project 52.  I ahead for week 6 – got it done at the beginning of the week instead of the end.  By the way I did talk to Kyle on Monday and he is coming home Friday for the weekend – yeah!  He said he has been busy at school with a heavy load of classes and his TA position.

Greg’s new car in My Digital Studio

Last week I went with Greg on a short trip to South Carolina.  We went to take delivery on his new car at the factory.  It was the ultimate driving experience and the BMW Performance Driving School.  Greg loved every minute of it.  Me on the other hand – not so much.  Let’s just say I have no desire, will never, ever be a race car driver or to even drive somewhat fast around a track.  My words were – “you have to let me out of this car” – as Greg is zipping around the track catching the car in front of him and not letting the guy behind him catch up.  And even worse for me was when we did a “Hot Lap” with the instructor  – me hanging on in the back seat for dear life with my eyes closed.  The instructors are professional race car drivers and they know how to drive a car.  We learned a lot and they taught us how to use all the different features of the car and got to try them all out on and off road tracks.

I took lots of pictures and have more to scrap but I started with the building of the car.   Inside the factory they added cameras so they can make recordings of each car as it is built then they create a video and email it to you when your car is finished.  I took screen shots of Greg’s car from his video and added them to an MDS scrapbook page.  Show this one to your husbands….

In My Digital Studio I used a photo template and add papers in the background from the new Leadership Kit download.  The papers and colors worked perfectly with the car photos.  I have more pages to create but this is the beginning – the car being born.  It starts with the first camera in the upper left corner of the page and then go clockwise around with the center photo showing Greg and his new car when they delivered it to us at the performance center.

This was another page for the Project 52 challenge – one page a week – but I think I need to make more than a page a week – I have lots more pictures and things to show than what I have been able to do on one page.

January visit to the Ronald McDonald House

Last week I went to the Ronald McDonald House with some of my demonstrator friends.  We do this once a month and each take turns designing a card and bringing the supplies.  This month Joyce designed the card.  A few months ago I started taking pictures of the guests with their cards and while they worked.  They seem to like this so I have continued to do that when I go.  Today I decided to make quick My Digital Studio page to show all my pictures.

Have a great day!

I’m a guest blogger today

Today (well actually yesterday) I was asked if I wanted to be a Guest Blogger on MyDigitalStudio.net!  I was so excited I couldn’t even finish the conversation that I was having with Greg on the phone.  I had to read the email several times to make sure it was really for me and it was.  So today I have a blog post on MyDigitalStudio.net.  If you have Stampin’ Up!s My Digital Studio and you haven’t yet joined this online community you need to put that on the top of your list.  You will learn so much from everyone else – you can ask questions, see samples, watch videos, and more.  So go do it today  – it is a free community for My Digital Studio users.

My blog post was about my Leadership Roommates page that I posted a few days ago and something called Project 52.  It is a challenge on MyDigitalStudio.net to create one page a week and then have a completed 2011 book at the end of the year.  I had previously set a goal for myself (before I found the challenge) to create at least one page/project a week in MDS so this challenge seemed to fit right in to what I was already doing.  I left a comment on the blog about it and then they asked me to write a post for today.  Thank you Stampin’ Up! for the opportunity!

These are my “Project 52” pages that I have made so far this year.  I have previously posted them to my blog so if you want more details look at the original post for each page.

Project 52 - week 1

Project 52 - week 2

Project 52 - week 3

I know that I started to do a similar thing last year and that was to scrapbook a page each week the traditional way.  I made at least 52 pages or more last year I just didn’t get pictures on all of them and didn’t post them all to my blog.  The blogger that was doing that challenge last year never finished because she went back to school full time and was working a job and has a big family and her blog and the challenge were put on the back burner.  This year I plan to do better and really get pages made with pictures on them in MDS.

On January 30th I will be having my first My Digital Studio class at my house.  If you would like to attend bring your laptop loaded with MDS and have some pictures on it too.  We will be starting with the basics and I will be showing you how I made the Leadership Roommates page as part of the class.  Please contact me to rsvp or if you have questions.

Not to fear I’m still doing traditional scrapbooking and my monthly class for that is on January 28th – we will make two 2-page 12×12 layouts at the class and it will be offered both in the morning and in the evening.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you’ll visit my post on MyDigitalStudio.net and leave me a nice comment there or leave one here.  Thanks so much!

Snowstorm 2011

I put together a quick scrapbook page using My Digital Studio for our snowstorm from last week.  I think of this as the beginning of my adventure to the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference in Nashville.  Normally I am excited about some snow since we don’t get it very often, but with my trip planned I wasn’t really that excited about the snow this time.  I REALLY wanted to go to Nashville!  The storm came in quickly on Sunday night and dropped 6 inches of snow at our house.  Then it changed over to freezing rain and put a layer of ice on top.  On Monday everything around here was closed (even the Atlanta airport) and no one was moving.  I spent Monday shoveling snow off the driveway because all our neighbors that have moved here from up north were doing that – so I borrowed a shovel and did the same – I figured they must know something that I don’t and I wanted to have every shot at getting out on Wednesday to go to Nashville.

This page layout was one that I got from the awesome Heather Summers.  I basically copied her page exactly as she had it.  She is the My Digital Studio queen and makes the best scrapbook pages.  The left side of the page is a collage of 2×2″ photos.  This is much easier to do in MDS than it is in real life – you can turn, crop, zoom, cut and “glue” all at the same time!   I was lucky enough to see Heather at the Leadership conference – here we are together on the first morning.

Heather has such great inspiration not only her My Digital Studio projects but all of her work.

I hope you get inspired too.  I will be holding a My Digital Studio class at my house on Sunday, January 30th.  This first class will be the basics to getting started with My Digital Studio.  If you live near me and would like to come please let me know.

Leadership Roommates

I am back from the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference in Nashville, TN.  I was bound and determined to get there even through ice and snow!  I am so glad that I made it and it was the best time ever!  We were busy from the time we got up until the time we went to bed each and every day.  I stayed an extra day for a smaller stamping event a another demonstrators house that lives near Nashville so Saturday was almost just as busy as Thursday and Friday.  I got home Sunday afternoon about 5 or so, unpacked the car and dumped it all inside the house.  Aspen and Magnolia were super excited to see me!  I got my normal lecture from Aspen – “how could you leave me?”, “why were you gone so long?”, “don’t go back out that door”.  He literally won’t let me get back out the door without coming with me – he is very determined that I won’t go out again without him.  A little while later I sat on the coach – I was able to watch my recording of Grey’s Anatomy and then fell asleep.  It did seem that the weather last week not only messed up the roads, the school schedule, the mail service, garbage service and UPS deliveries but apparently messed up the TV schedules – I set the DVR to record some shows while I was away and when I tried to watch some today – it was the wrong show – even though the TV listing had the right show – weird – I guess I have to try to find them on the internet.

I’ll have more stories to tell and pictures to share and all the rest of the excitement from leadership.  Today I made an MDS page about Leadership Roommates.  This year I shared a room with Diane, Becky and Wendy.  We realized late on Friday night that we didn’t have any pictures of the four of us.  Actually it was probably already Saturday morning by this time – we were up until about 3 AM.  I got my camera out and remembered it had a timer so that I could set up the camera and then run over to be in the shot.  Luckily it had a 10 second timer and the option to have it shoot 3 shots back to back.  So that was what we did and boy were we laughing.  Here is the result:

The layout for this page came from a My Digital Studio book that we were able to get at Memento Mall – I took an idea from one of the pages in there and merged it with one of the photo templates that the program has.  Stampin’ Up! is releasing a Leadership Conference exclusive digital kit for MDS that is designed to go with the Leadership theme, colors and logo.  I plan to us it for most of my pictures but I did want to start sharing some with you while I wait on that to become available.

Have a wonderful day!
