Happy Birthday to my Mom! I’ll be spending the day with her today. But here is a quick post to show you the birthday card I made for her.
Hopefully I’ll get to her house and give it to her before she see’s my blog. This card may look a bit familiar if you follow Shelli Gardner’s blog – she is the head of Stampin’ Up! and this card was on her blog. This card uses some new items in the Occasions Mini Catalog – Elegant Bird Bigz Die for the Big Shot and the Pleated Ribbon in Baja Breeze. And there are two products from the Sale-a-Bration brochure – Fresh Vintage stamp set and the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series paper.
The paper has Lucky Limeade but I actually used Certainly Celery for the card base and the button. The bird wings are embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder which is hard to see in the picture. To attach the Pleated Ribbon I ran a strip of snail across the base of my card stock and then attached the ribbon to it – rather than trying to put adhesive on the ribbon itself. This has worked for me. Sticky strip is another option. There is also a piece of stamped twill tape.
And speaking of birds – its that time of year where the birds are house hunting and if you have followed my blog over the past few years you know I blog about the birds in my yard throughout the spring. I’ve been noticing a woodpecker checking out the woodpecker house – so I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll have a nesting woodpecker this year. This week I also noticed some chick-a-dees going in and out of one of the houses – its the same house they used last year – so maybe they will be back. No activity on any of the other houses right now.
Happy Birthday to you mom! I love you!

We made this card in one of my classes this month. The idea is from a card that was on display at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference. I though the idea was really neat – and at first glance you probably can’t tell that the large blossom flower is actually the negative portion of the punched image. It is a bit of an illusion.
The card base is Calypso Coral and then there is a piece of the Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper attached. The white layer was run through the Stripes Embossing Folder (you can get it free during Sale-A-Bration) and then the Blossom Punch (Occasions Mini catalog) is punched in the side to create the opening of the flower. Put this over the designer paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add the center circle with a matching brad to finish the large flower. We used the In-Color Printed brads and everyone got to choose between – Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, and Wisteria Wonder brads. The Boho Blossoms punch was used to add the smaller flowers and they have the silver mini brads as their centers.
The strip across the front is stamped with words from the Loving Thoughts stamp set (Occasions Mini Catalog). I gave this card to my downline Lisa for her birthday last week. And most of the girls at my class called it a “Vera” card.
Enjoy the day!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I hope you have a sweet day.
Each year we do Valentine’s a little different – when the kids were really young we started our family Valentine traditions – we cooked a fancy special dinner at home (I can feed the 5 of us a Lobster and Steak dinner at home for less than the 2 of us can go out). And to make it fun for the boys I had a Valentine Scavenger hunt for them. Each year is different and they have to solve riddles or decipher secret codes and search for hidden treats through out the house. Now they are older and with Kyle and Tyler in college I wasn’t sure the tradition would continue – but we managed to get us all together one more year – but we did it on Saturday night so Kyle and Tyler could be here too. We had our yummy lobsters and steak that Tyler prepared this year. Ryan made chocolate covered strawberries and I made some cute mini parfait desserts – they seem to be all the rage right now and I found some mini glasses at the store. I’ll find the picture of the desserts – it must be on my phone – since I didn’t find it on my camera.
Found it –
I thought these little mini desserts were really good. First I baked some little brownie bites I found at the grocery store – they were Valentine Brownies with little pink and red chocolate chips. Then I layered my little glasses with first a brownie bite, then some vanilla yogurt, some fresh raspberries, and then another layer of each. They were easy to make.
Enough about that – now on to this cute card. I love this card when I saw it at Leadership. I saw it hanging on the displays and took a picture, then saw it again on the contest winners display and took another picture. And then was excited to see that I actually had it as a swap! The designer of this card was Catherine Sanders. Don’t you just love this card? I do. And we made it in my Friday class and I plan to give one to Greg today too. There are a few new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog on this card – the P.S. I Love You stamp set was used. The Adorning Accents Embossing Folders – the little hearts across the middle of the white panel. And the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Oh my – I have been away from my blog for way too long! I didn’t mean too, but by the time I got ready to work on my blog it was time to go to bed so I would plan to do it the next day and then it happened again. So bad me. I meant to post about Valentine projects the last few days. And since that didn’t happen this post will just include multiple projects for Valentine’s day. Many of these are swaps and some I have used in my classes over the last week or two.
Ok here we go – these first few pictures were all ideas from swaps that I received at Leadership – most are from a Treat Wrapper swap that I participated in – it is always lots of fun to see all the fun ways people package up little treats. A couple of these are pictures of my actual swap that I received and others I have made a few minor changes to and used them in one of my classes. If I know the creator I will also try to add that information but some of them didn’t have names (or I lost them in transit at some point).

Cupid Box by Frances Wagner - this is the swap I received - it has an oatmeal cream pie or something similar inside.

Cute little envelope with a wrapped peppermint patty inside - this is one of the swaps I received and I did not find the name of the person that created it.

triangle treat - Designer Paper wrapped around a piece of Toblerone (my favorite) then wrapped in cellophane with ribbon tied ends - and a tag added to the front - this was the swap I received - I'm not sure who made it.

Dragonfly Treat - We made these in my Love is in the Air class on Friday - this idea comes from Connie Babbert and was her swap at leadershp. I didn't make any changes and she has instructions on her blog. Really Cute!

Strawberry Basket - original swap from Brenda McBride - this is a slightly altered version that we made at my Friday class - i changed the colors to Real Red and Lucky Limeade, and used the Sale-A-Bration Lucky Limeade ribbon for the strawberries. Those are dum-dum's by the way. The shreds in the box are made from the recycled paper in our orders. I also changed the ribbon and brads that I used on the box - its' made from two of the scalloped envelopes.

I received this little goody bag from my friend Shannon West. Inside were candy kisses, hugs and gummy lips!
One more project. This one wasn’t from Leadership but I found it on a blog – it was created by Lisa Young. She had instructions on her blog and i pretty much did exactly what she did.

Big Chocolate Covered Strawberry - from Lisa Young

I hope you enjoyed these sweet projects!

This is a quick little Valentine Goody Bag. Inside is a Maze Game and they are really easy to make.
The plain Maze Games are for sale in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog – 4 to a pack for $2.50. You turn it over and remove the white back panel (be sure you don’t lose the little balls inside). Stamp the image from the Totally a-maze-ing set on Whisper White card stock and punch out with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch. Then slip that piece into the back of the game. Since this was a Valentine Goody Bag I used the heart image for the game but there is also a traditional maze image to match the game.
I put the game in a cello bag with some candy and the hearts that I didn’t use on the topper. I cute the hearts with the new Fashionable hearts Embosslits Die. I also cut the largest label from the Framelits set. The black heart is the Scalloped Heart Embosslit (that probably isn’t the right name – my big catalog isn’t right here). The topper is attached with a silver mini brad and also has the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding tied around it.
These really were quick to make. This idea was from Shelli – she showed these on stage at Leadership and it was one of the projects for the Valentine class she was having with her daughter.

One of the fun parts of a Stampin’ Up! event is the swapping – there is different kinds of swapping and it starts as soon as you are on your way to a Stampin’ Up! event. At the airport you can usually spot another Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and it’s not uncommon to start swapping at the airport while waiting on the plane, in the plane – especially when you are seated near the bathroom then everyone stops by to talk to you and if the swaps are out then we start swapping. At every event I come home with swaps and I have a bunch from Leadership. I usually pick out my favorites to use in my classes or hang on my display board. The card I’m going to show you today is one of my swap cards from Leadership – I have been using it in my clubs and classes since I returned from Leadership and everyone has loved it. The swap that I received was from Linda Purvis from Texas. I made a few minor changes from her swap but not many. Here is my version:
And you could use this same concept with butterflies, flowers, stars, even balloons. Most of the hearts are punched from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series paper using the Heart to Heart punch. You can get this paper for free during Sale-A-Bration. The ribbon on the card is from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad pack that you can also get for free during Sale-A-Bration. Both of these are my favorite items to choose from and I have already gone through multiple packs of each. Here is a full list of supplies that I used on my card. For the big heart you can either punch it with the Full Heart punch or use the new Heart Framelits to cut it out.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Card stock: Poppy Parade, Whisper White
- Ink: Poppy Parade
- Stamp sets: P.S. I Love You, Candy Conversations (both in the Occasions Mini Catalog)
- Accessories: Heart to Heart punch, Full Heart punch, Small Heart punch, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series paper, Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad pack (used the Lucky Limeade ribbon), Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I have more to share about the Leadership conference and I also plan to share more Valentine ideas since it is approaching quickly. My Hands on Class this Friday is going to be themed “Love is in the Air” – we’ll be making some projects for those that you love. It should be fun!
