I can’t believe it has already been 20 weeks of the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge. It seems like we just started a couple of weeks ago but it has actually been much longer than that. Another spring set of colors – and I’m ready for spring to be here. Actually I can’t wait because of two things – the birds will be back building nests and raising babies in my yard and we are building a sunroom/all-season room where we used to have a screened porch/deck and it will be so nice to sit out there when it is finished.
So back to my project today – I made tags again – I needed some for my latest batch of customer orders so I decided to use the Color Challenge for my inspiration. I decided to use the stamp set that we received at Leadership – Clearly for You. This weeks colors are Always Artichoke, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Kraft (or Crumb Cake). Here is what I came up with:

One of the things that we learned at the Leadership conference was that you could use the aqua-painter to “paint” on the Shimmer Mist paint. I loved how it look and the aqua-painter gives you control of where you are putting it. So I did that here on my little butterfly – on the tips of his wings and on the body. I tried to take a close up picture so you could see the shimmer – this was the Champagne Mist color.
The rest of the tag is punches – Always Artichoke 2-1/2″ circle, Regal Rose 2-3/8 Scallop Circle, Whisper White 1-3/4″ circle. The berry image was colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.
I hope you like these little tags. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.

At every Stampin’ Up! Event there are Make ‘n takes – we have to have our stamping time. This year at Leadership the Make ‘n Takes were the best ever! Our Make ‘n Take session was on Friday night at the end of the Leadership Conference – I hope no one left early because they missed some WOW projects. I wanted to share them all with you. The stamp set they gave us was Clearly for You so the projects we made use that as the main stamp set. The tables were sprinkled with punched pluses to match our +ONE theme (I wonder if that will be a future punch?) and our stamp set and supplies were packaged up in a little box this time.

Jan 15, 2011 | Big Shot, Occasions Mini 2011, Stampin' Up! Events, Valentine's Day |
So sorry for not posting. I thought I would have time to get back to the computer during Leadership but they kept us busy from the minute we got up until we got back to our rooms and fell down in our beds. Leadership officially ended last night about 11 o’clock. But we are up again this morning with another full day planned of stamping, friendship and fun in Nashville – although with a smaller group. I wanted to get this quick post out and I’ll tell you more about all the exciting things from leadership when I get back home tomorrow and over the next week.
This is a project I made for two different swaps – a candy wrapper swap and a Valentine WOW swap. You may recognize it from last year when I originally created this idea. I’ll share some more specific details later – I need to go now!

I signed up for several organized swaps at Leadership – for one of them I made these Designer Paper Purses. This is for a Candy Wrapper swap – inside you could put candy – I actually put sunflower seeds in mine since I was trying to stick with a bird theme. I used two different paper packs from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. Some are made with papers from Springtime Vintage collection and the others are made from the Botanical Gazette collection.
They all have Early Espresso for the top of the purse, Clear Rhinestone Brads for the latch, a two-step Bird punched out for the front, the Seam Binding handles and an Oval Punched tag tied with Linen Thread.
I stamped on the Botanical Gazette papers with the Nature Walk stamp set. The papers and birds are speckled with a Color Spritzer and either Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker or a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker.
The stitching is the White Gel Pen.
I love making these purses. I also tried making them in smaller sizes but decided to keep them big so they would fit the Sunflower seeds inside.
I hope you like them.
We are enjoying the trip to Nashville. Once I got out of my neighborhood Wed. morning – straight up a hill of ice to get out – the roads were clear, mostly dry and it was smooth driving all the way up and over the mountains. It took one hour for me to get out of the neighborhood (part of that was getting up the nerve to try to tackle the hill of ice) and then four hours or so to get to Nashville.
We are having fun packed, busy days and I’ll have lots to share when I get back!

Jan 11, 2011 | Cards, Occasions Mini 2011, UDI Color Challenge |
The snow came, the snow dumped, the snow changed to sleet, the ice formed, the schools closed, the roads closed and I’m still hoping to be able to drive to Nashville on Wednesday. Please let there be warm temps and sunshine today!! I think I’m going to cry if it doesn’t get better for tomorrow. I took pictures and planned to share them but today I decided I wanted to challenge myself to scrap them using My Digital Studio instead of sharing raw pictures. I finished one page Monday night and will share it tomorrow and work on some more to share while I’m away (positive thinking).
Also for those asking about the Rules of Chocolate from yesterday’s post – the pdf has been added to yesterdays post.

With all the snow we are getting these pretty spring flowers sure are a nice site (although the snow is pretty too). These could also be winter colors but I liked the flowers and decided to stick with that thought. I still have one of my magazines out on the table and grabbed another sketch from it for this card. It is a quick and easy card using Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum, Concord Crush, and Very Vanilla.

The flower images are from the new Button, Button stamp set – one stamped in each of the colors in the color challenge. I poked holes through the center and tied Linen Thread through them. The ‘hello’ is from the Hello Again stamp set it is stamped in Concord Crush. I also used a Concord Crush Stampin’ Write marker to go around the edge of the Perfect Plum card base. The bottom left corner was punched with the Corner Rounder punch.
I hope you like this weeks card. I have been playing a lot with this stamp set and using it for several of my swaps for the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference next week – oh my it really is just over a week away. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.

Jan 4, 2011 | Cards, Occasions Mini 2011, Thank You, UDI Color Challenge |
I almost forgot to create my Color Challenge card. With Christmas, New Year and everyone home the days just sort of run together and I’m not sure when is a week day or when its a weekend – they are all the same during that time. Gretchen wants us to have our challenge cards ready by Sunday night – well let just say that didn’t happen (and I’m not the only one either). But I did get it done on Monday afternoon and sent in to Gretchen. And today I get to share it with you.
We are on #17 of the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge. Click on this link to go to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog. This is the inspiration that Gretchen gave us this week –

These colors make me think of birds and nature and the new Nature Walk stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog that starts TODAY! So that was what I used for my creation. The inspiration piece has kind of a collage look to it so I went with that on my card too.
It’s a little busy – maybe I needed another strip of Marina Mist across the middle so the bird and thank you stand out more. I’ll try that and perhaps add another picture to this post later. Here is a close up of the details with a few things to note:
The eye on the bird is one of the Basic Pearls and I just ran the Marina Mist marker over it to give a blue hue – how do you like that?
I decided to make it look like the bird was carrying a tag in his beak with the “thank you” so I tied the Linen Thread to the top and just attached it right under the beak – it isn’t really tied to the beak at all.
The ribbon is Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding – also in the new Mini Catalog. I decided to try the ruffles that I have seen everyone doing lately on their cards. Needless to say I wasn’t very good at making a straight line across my card…
Yes I did go back and make a slight change to the card – and I do like this second version better – I added a Marina Mist strip above the ruffled ribbon so the bird and tag were easier to see. Here it is:

I hope you like this weeks card. I have been playing a lot with this stamp set and using it for several of my swaps for the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference next week – oh my it really is just over a week away. Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.
