We learned about some trends occurring in the crafting world right now when we were at Leadership. This one is gold. Yep, apparently Gold is back in and I know I have been seeing it everywhere. I’m waiting on my order for some of the new Gold items from the Occasions Catalog – right now my order is delayed due to our Atlanta weather – it should have been here on Wed. – no update yet on the delivery – hopefully it will come on Friday so I can have it for the weekend. But in the meantime I did create this card in honor of the Gold trend. This one is based on a swap I received from Natalie Travis – I made minor changes.
This card features the Happy Congratulations stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog. Here is what I used on it:
- Happy Congratulations, Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets
- Early Espresso card base
- Cherry Cobbler Co-ordinations card stock
- Gold card stock
- Early Espresso Cherry Cobbler classic ink
- Gold Encore Ink
- Gold Baker’s Twine
- 3/4″ circle punch
We still have snow and ice. Although the sun was out today and the temps got above freezing briefly. Schools were closed today and will be again tomorrow. It seems Ryan has hardly been in school this month. I think we will all be ready to get back to a regular schedule on Monday.

At the Leadership conference we had a Stamping Party one night and we had some awesome presentations from the Stampin’ Up! staff. Brandi shared with us about trends and one trend is Geometric patterns. The new Kaleidoscope suite in the Occasions Catalog is right on trend.
This was one of the cards we made in January’s Hands-on Stamping class. What did I use on this card?
- Geometrical stamp set
- Triangle punch
- Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
- Kaleidoscope Designer Series paper
- Banners Framelits dies
- Basic Rhinestones
- circle punch (right now I can’t remember which one and I’m not at home to check – either the 1/2″ or the bitty circle)
This card idea came from one I saw on Pinterest. The stamp set and the punch come as a bundle or individually.

On the inside I added a strip of the Kaleidoscope designer paper. Another option with this would have been to cut a strip off the front of the card and then the paper on the inside would show when the card is closed too. I may just have to make another version like that.
Today has been a long day of walking and apartment hunting. But it looks like a decision has been made. Yeah!

Jan 22, 2014 | Occasions Catalog 2014, Valentine's Day |
I have a quick little treat holder for you today. This one is decorated for Valentine’s day but it’s a perfect idea for any holiday.

I happened to have Whisper White strips left over from the Owl Calendar Project I made before Leadership. And they worked perfect for this project. The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch uses a strip that is 2″ wide. These were 2″ wide and 8-1/2″ long. Punch both ends with the punch and then score at 4″ and 4-1/2″ (the center is 4-1/4″).
This is what it looks like once its punched and scored.
This is what I used to decorate the front

Fun treats! I hope you like them. We made these in my last Hands-on class.

Jan 21, 2014 | Designer Series Paper, My Digital Studio, Occasions Catalog 2014, Tell Me Tuesday, Weekly Deals |
It may be Wednesday by the time you see this but it is still Tuesday here where I am. Kyle and I traveled to San Francisco today. Came in on a full 5 hour flight. Got out to the rental car place, got the car and drove to the city to find our hotel. We only went around in circles a few times before we got to the entrance and then had to wait to turn cause a fedex truck was blocking it. Anyway we are in the hotel room and heading to bed soon – even though its still relatively early here. We will have a busy couple of days apartment hunting.
So here is this weeks Tell Me Tuesday.

Jan 20, 2014 | Occasions Catalog 2014, Valentine's Day |
Are you getting ready for Valentine’s Day yet? I’ve started creating a few ideas since it’s creeping up really fast. Stampin’ Up! has a few special items right now just for Valentine’s day. One is this pack of Sweetheart Treat Bags. Cute little red bags with printed hearts on them – plus they include the Baker’s Twine and the little pre-cut striped banners both in Pool Party. Each pack comes with 12 bags, 12 tags and 12 pieces of twine – all that for $4.95. You just need to add the treat for the inside – I used boxes of Sweethearts candy.
I also added a few stamped images from the Language of Love stamp set.
- I stamped the large heart in Real Red and punched it out with the Full Heart Punch.
- Then I stamped the row of small hearts in Pool Party and punched each of those out with the Small Heart Punch.
- I punched a small hole in the tag, the large heart and one small heart. Those were strung on the Baker’s Twine which I tied in a bow.
- The other small heart were paired up and attached to the end of the Baker’s Twine with mini glue dots.

Fun and easy to make up a bunch of these for Valentine’s Day. I’ll have another quick idea for you tomorrow.
