Since we are celebrating Digital Scrapbooking day I decided to create a couple of quick digital scrapbook pages this morning. The best way to make quick pages is to use one of the Designer Templates. So that was what I did and they were both done in just a few minutes – it took longer to find the photos than anything else.
This template came with the Sun Garden Designer Paper Digital Download. It is a 12×12 scrapbook page. I added photos that we took this summer at the Stampin’ Up! Convention. Michele, Dawn, Cindy and I were roommates and on the last night we had some fun with our camera – using the auto shoot function. We all piled into one bed and found different places to set the camera trying to get pictures of the four of us. We had fun making silly faces and laughing. I can’t wait for the next Stampin’ Up! event which is the Leadership Conference in January. Michele will be my room mate again and this time Becky and Diane will be with us.
I made very few changes to the template – I added my pictures, and the text at the bottom. I moved a few of the elements just to get them off the pictures a little bit more but that was pretty much it.
And this other page is also a template – it is the Sunset Serenade Digital Kit – another 12×12 scrapbook page. I added the stamp “So Grateful” which is from the So Typefelt stamp brush set that you can get free this weekend at the Mydigitalstudio.net site. I also moved the text box that was in that spot up on top of my large photo and added the word Family. A few of the elements were moved to get them off the pictures and that was pretty much it. I left the rest of the template alone. I think the pictures work well with the colors in this template page.
These pictures are from this summer when we went to the beach with Greg’s family. That’s Greg’s mom in the white dress. And then the photo with Greg, his mom, sister and brother. Then the large family photo includes the spouses and kids. All of us dressed to match on the beach. And we are all grateful to have some time together. We will all be together again at Thanksgiving. We have plans to be with my family during Christmas – I can’t wait to get pictures of all of us too.
A few minutes, no mess to clean up and my two scrapbook pages are done. And now I can do some cleaning up , laundry and get dinner ready. Both Kyle and Tyler are home this weekend and I’ve got BBQ chicken in the crock pot. I plan to try a new recipe for some garlic cheese biscuits and later tonight we’ll have a fire outside before the boys go back to college. Have a nice rest of your weekend. I keep thinking it is only Saturday but I guess it really is Sunday.

Here is a project I made using the Home for the Holidays Ensemble –
It is a Holiday Planner. I used My Digital Studio to create the cover, I printed it on Whisper White card stock on my home printer and then trimmed it to fit inside one of the Clear Mount Stamp cases. I decorated it with a piece of Baja Breeze Seam Binding and a die cut snowflake.
On the inside I created some helpful inserts weekly planners, to do lists, gift lists and card lists.
This useful fun project is one of the choices at my Gift Making Class next weekend. If you want to come be sure to email me. So spend some time this weekend visiting MyDigitalStudio.net. Stampin’ Up! will be posting projects all weekend – so far there is a Christmas Card idea with the Home for the Holiday ensemble and a scrapbook layout using the Delight in the Day template. And demonstrators and My Digital Studio customers will be posting their ideas in the Showcase too. Come see what we are all up to.
Have a fun weekend!
Oct 28, 2011 | Cards, Christmas, Demonstrator, Holiday Mini catalog 2011, My Digital Studio |
Earlier this month we had a retreat for demos at my house and we learned all about My Digital Studio. It was so much fun! My friend, Cindy and I came up with the idea last summer as we flew out to Salt Lake City for the Stampin’ Up! Convention. We started talking on the flight over and then had even more ideas after attending the classes that they offered at convention. We worked on our plans and on our projects and scheduled the retreat for mid October.
There were 12 of us here for an entire day learning and playing with My Digital Studio.

all of us
A picture of the whole gang eating out in my sunroom. We set up tables out there so we wouldn’t have to clear the computers off our work spaces. We set up two classrooms – the kitchen table had the beginner group that I taught and the dining room table had the intermediate group that Cindy taught.

We planned our day with class time in the morning, lunch and dinner breaks, three hybrid projects, and free create time at the end of the day. For each hybrid project the time was split between actually completing the project – adding the hybrid elements – we had the MDS part pre-printed – and going over how we created it in MDS. We covered topics such as printing through the Stampin’ Up! print service, using Designer Templates, printing at home, and more.

One project was a Welcome Banner. This one was modeled after one that we saw at one of the classes at Convention. I changed it to use the Spice Cake Designer Paper in MDS. This one I printed on my home computer and then we added the elements such as die cut letters, punched flowers, ribbon, pearls, linen thread, hemp twine and the mini clothes pins for hanging.
The second project was a card. This is the card sample in the Holiday Mini catalog. It is made using a postcard template so we showed how to take that template (it is a digital download) and create a card with it. And then add the hybrid elements. Cindy created this project for the class. These were printed through the SU print service.
The third project was the calendar. Cindy recreated the calendar that was made in the MDS +FUN class at convention in the portrait option. And she made it a 2012 calendar. For the class we added little hybrid pieces to each month. These were printed through the SU print service and they are so nice.

Everybody received a Make ‘n Take bag that included a personalized name tag. I got this idea from another demo – Heather. I created the tags as a MDS Swatchbook project and had them printed through the SU print service. The swatch books are really nice – see the hole in the corner – that is where the rivet is and then the book has a plastic cover on the front and back. I just took it all apart to create the tags which we tied to the bags with Very Vanilla Seam Binding. Inside the bag were all the pieces for the projects we made (we pre-punched everything!) and all the handouts with instructions for our class topics, printing, and the projects.
We had good food – Chicken Salad for lunch and Chili and baked potatoes for dinner. We had some desserts – look at these little brownie bites –
We punched out the detailed flower from the Triple Flower punch – laid it on each brownie and sprinkled them with powdered sugar. They matched the cover of our calendar!!
I think everyone learned a lot in that one day – even Cindy and I learned from each other as we prepared and held the retreat. We enjoyed ourselves so much we started planning the next one before the night even ended. If you live near us – I hope you will be able to join us for the next one!
Have a great day!

My Digital Studio has a new update this week – version 1.0.8.800 – it is a free update and guess what is new – a Calendar Function in the Designer Center!! This is so cool.
Now you can add a calendar layout to any project easily and set it up for Month and Year – yeah! And you can add a full year calendar too – I haven’t played with that yet.
So you add the calendar – set the month and year that you want and if you want the Header, the lines and the numbers. You can edit and change the font, colors, position of the numbers, change the lines, change the header. This is going to be a really great addition to this program. And just what I needed since I am working on a calendar project for my gift making class.
If you want to see this in action – my friend Cindy Schuster made a video when she played and created a project that you can see if you go to Mydigitalstudio.net. It’s free to all My Digital Studio users so if you haven’t joined yet go do it right away – lots of training, samples, resources and information out there.
Also if I didn’t tell you already there is new Bulk Buy Pricing for cards, post cards, tri-fold cards, tags and swatch books – just in time for Christmas. The more you buy the more you save. The details are also on Mydigitalstudio.net.
With the update you will also see a few new print product options – Board Books, Heavy paper options, and Linen Books.

Oh I almost forgot – there is also a My Digital Studio Hostess option –
The Hostess CD includes –

Aug 14, 2011 | My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages |
Hi all! It’s late on Saturday night as I write this post and Tyler is packing up his room getting ready to move to his dorm tomorrow as he starts the next phase of his life. I can’t believe he is headed off to college already. Time has passed so quickly.
While he was packing I decided to create a My Digital Studio scrapbook page. These were some pictures that I took this summer when we were at the beach. It is so different now that most of the kids are driving and headed off to college. The adults were able to do what they wanted and the kids for the most part entertained themselves. This particular night they all decided to play a game together – all 7 of the kids – my three (Kyle, Tyler and Ryan), my two nieces (Natalia and Emily) , my nephew (Nicholas), and one of the cousins (Emma). They pulled out the cards and decided to play Spoons – but instead of using spoons they were using the pool tags that came with the condo. So maybe we should call it Tags.
Let’s see if I can list some of the digital elements that I used –
-Downtown Grunge Digital kit – the background paper, the white frames, and the tape
-Stamp Brush Sets – Extreme Elements, First Edition, one of the alphabet sets (I forgot which one), My Friend, and an overlay
The rest is text and photo boxes.
Have a great weekend!
