Aug 27, 2012 | Cookie Stamps, My Digital Studio, Recipe |
Yesterday I had my Stampin’ Up! Getaway Celebration Party. What a fun afternoon it was! I wanted to have a celebration party for everyone as a Thank You for helping me earn my first incentive trip. Today I thought I would show you the decorations and things for the party.
First I made a bunch of paper flowers – using the idea from page 70 of the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog. My color palette came from the colors in the Patio Party Designer Series paper. I arranged the flowers in mason jars that were filled with beans and then tied some of the matching ribbon around the mouth of the jar.

I baked little mini cupcakes and made cream cheese frosting – yum! I used My Digital Studio and the template from the Patio Party Collection DVD. I printed out the little flag banners for my cupcake picks – I just replaced the “Happy Birthday” with “Thank You”. I printed it at home on Whisper White card stock – I cut them and scored in half then glued to the top of a tooth pick.

I also cut strips of the Patio Party Designer Series paper and then punched out butterflies from the card stock left from the flowers. I wrapped the water bottles and glued the butterflies to the front. They were really cute.

I also made cookies using the Sweet Pressed Cookie stamps from convention. I made lots of Thank You cookies which everyone used to make a project and then I had all the others out on a plate. I used the Sugared Shortbread cookie recipe that comes with the cookies stamps. By the way most everyone that I have showed these too is surprised out how big these are. In the catalog they seem smaller. They are 2-3/4″ diameter – so it makes a large cookie not a small one.

I also made an Almond Chicken Cheese Ball which is a favorite for everyone. The recipe makes two large cheese balls and we finished the first one and made it half way through the second one. I’d say everyone loved it. And many people asked for the recipe. I had actually posted it on my blog a long time ago – here is the post.
Here is a picture of all my food –

I had some little parfaits – yogurt, brownie bites and raspberries. And finally I made corn dip – here is the recipe for that:
CORN DIP
2 cans (15 oz) Fiesta Corn, drained
1 can (4 oz) Chopped Green chilis (I don’t always use the whole can)
10 oz. pkg shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. sour cream
1/2 cup mayo
1 Tbs Cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or less)
1 1/2 Tbs Chilli powder
Mix & chill overnight.
Serve with Tostito or Frito scoops.
Yum. Yum.
I know I had a fun afternoon and I’m glad so many people were able to make it. I’ll share the projects we made on another day.

Aug 23, 2012 | My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages, Stampin' Up! Convention |
What do you do when you have to run out of town and still have a project that you need to create? Since you can’t grab the craft room and stamp in the car – you grab your laptop and create with My Digital Studio in the car! With my Create with Connie & Mary sketch and My Digital Studio 2 I was able to create this scrapbook page in the car.

Here is the CCMC215 sketch so you can see what I started with –

I just added the shapes from the sketch using photo boxes and a punch. I wanted to keep the rounded corners. And with My Digital Studio 2 it is super easy to added them to your photo boxes – there is a new feature to round corners and you pick which corner you want rounded.
Another new feature is being able to re-color embellishments – so the antique brad in the center of my flower was recolored to be Wisteria Wonder. It’s very subtle but its there. This picture is in front of the Stampin’ Up! corporate office in Riverton, Utah. We were able to take a bus out there on Wed of convention week. It was such a fun trip. I know I still owe a video from last weeks challenge card – I’m hoping to get to that next week – being gone for two days has thrown me way behind.
All the supplies are listed below – using another new MDS2 feature – the supply list. Have you tried creating with My Digital Studio? Did you know there is a free 30 day trial? I’d love to see what you can do with it. Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected. Each challenge is open for a week. And then a new challenge will be issued.

Aug 21, 2012 | family, My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages |

I created this page using My Digital Studio2 for our beloved Uncle Lamar – Greg’s uncle. Just a quick post today.
Supply list (a new option in MDS2) – I started with a template Thoughtful Overlays 11×8-1/2. And then changed it. I used the color match feature to match the blue in his shirt. This picture of Uncle Lamar is from 2010 at the family reunion at his farm.

Yep it’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary. This week we have a sketch challenge for you. The great thing about a sketch is you could apply it to more than just cards – it could be a scrapbook page, or the front of a box or journal. When I see a sketch I always think about the different things I could do with it. This week I was actually working on some Thank you notes to send out to customers and friends for helping me with my June goal to get 50 orders of $50 and earn the Stampin’ Up! Getaway trip. Well we did it and I owe not only thank yous, but gift certificates to a class and invitations to a celebration party. I wanted to include all of this in one package. I have the gift certificates made (I used My Digital Studio for that) and the party invitations but wanted a cute little thank you to include as well. So I thought I could use the sketch for my design for the thank you. Here is the card I ended up with –

And here is what the sketch looked like

So this is actually a 4×4 card. But what I’m going to do is seal the bottom and left and it will become a pouch with a side opening. I have long envelopes for these to go in. Then in the side I will insert the class gift certificate and the party invitation. Here is what it looks like as a pouch with the other things inside –

All the supplies are listed below – come play along with us this week and lets see what you can do with this sketch – surprise me. I can’t wait to see what you create. Visit

Jul 31, 2012 | My Digital Studio, Stampin' Up! Convention |
For a long time I wanted to create myself a business planner using My Digital Studio. The problem with store bought calendars and planners is they are what someone else thinks everyone needs or wants. Which isn’t necessarily what is going to work for me. With My Digital Studio I can create a planner with exactly what I want. Since this one is mainly for my Stampin’ Up! business I wanted it to coincide with the Stampin’ Up! year which is July through June. So that is what I did – I created my planner so that it started in July 2012 and it runs through June 2013. Now I could have even added more months to it if I wanted to look at more than a year at a time. Here is a peek of the inside for you.

My planner is 8-1/2″ tall and 11″ wide – I created in a photobook project and printed it with a soft photo cover (I’ll show you that in just a minute). On each right hand page is the calendar part. I added important dates and my regular classes that I have on my calendar along with scheduled events such as Convention, Leadership and the Getaway trip. There is a stack of the old fashioned tvs on the page where I can fill in my monthly stats.
I used the Keep In Touch Digital Kit – it is the Hostess CD in the main Stampin’ Up! catalog so you can get it free with your workshop hostess dollars. It has the papers that I used in my backgrounds and all the little elements like the TVs, envelopes, pencils, telephones and stamp images for all the speech bubbles and larger envelopes.
Each left page has places for me to write in goals and calls and followups that I need to remember to do. I have a little check list of things to remember to do each month – pay bills, write newsletters, update website and stuff like that – this will give me a place to check it off as I get it done. And since it is the end of July I better go check all of those to see what I need to do today.
Here is the front cover –
Our convention theme this year was “I am…” so my planner follows that theme with different statements on the front cover and all over the back – different things that I am. I listed some of our class titles amongst these – “I am having fun!”, “I am creative”, “I am doing business “My Way”!”.
I guess I am repeating myself a bit – here is my original post about the planner – http://monikastamp.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/my-digital-studio-planner/
To go along with my planner I wanted a journal for taking notes –
I actually made three of these – one for my friend Cindy – she actually designed the center image for the cover which she used on one of her projects for convention. We took a day prior to convention and collaborated on project ideas – we decided the Keep in Touch download worked well with the ‘I am…” convention theme and ideas just started flowing from there. I printed a 3rd journal for my upline Wendy and that was a gift to her from Cindy and I.
And get ready for tomorrow with the early release of My Digital Studio 2! Lots of new features are ready with more to come. I’ll have more details for you once Stampin’ Up! posts them tomorrow. Cindy and I will be holding a class later showing all about My Digital Studio 2’s new features. We’ll let you know more about that soon. Also we have our next MDS Club class planned for August 18th. I’m working on an email for our club list. And there is more MDS news coming tomorrow that you’ll want to come back to see. Today there are some new downloads – it is Tuesday you know – a Chevron themed download is what I saw on the list – those are so very popular right now.
Stampin’ Up! has new downloads today – You can see all the available Digital Downloads on my website.
Have a great day! Tomorrow is the first day of school for Ryan.
