Batty for You

I think I love all the little animals in the Trick or Tweet stamp set.  The first one that I actually played with though was the little elephant.  I’ve collected elephants since I was a little girl so this was one I was naturally drawn to.

There are several new Holiday Catalog products on this card – the Trick or Tweet stamp set, the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder, the black glittered ribbon and new Stampin’ Blends in Blackberry Bliss. I thought it turned out to be a fun card.

Trick or Tweet Treat Box

All week long I’m going to be featuring this adorable stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog called Trick or Tweet.  It’s a cute little Halloween stamp set with animals dressed up in costumes – a dog, a cat, an elephant, and a little chick.  They are so cute!

Today’s project was one that I created after finding Glow in the Dark candy at the store.  Well the candy doesn’t glow in the dark but the wrappers do.  So I wanted to use our clear tiny treat boxes with the candy inside.  If you leave it out in the light it “charges” up the wrapper so that it will glow later in the dark.  And the wrappers are a perfect match to our Lemon Lime Twist color!

Supply List

  • Trick or Tweet stamp set
  • Clear Tiny Treat Boxes
  • Lemon Lime Twist card stock
  • Basic Black card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon
  • Basic Black Baker’s Twine
  • StazOn Black ink
  • Stampin’ Write Markers – Lemon Lime Twist, Pineapple Punch, Pumpkin Pie
  • 1/2″ circle punch
  • 1-1/2″ circle punch
  • 1-3/4″ circle punch
  • 1/8″ handheld punch
  • Corrugated Embossing Folder
  • Big Shot Die Cut Machine

I cut a 2″ strip of Lemon Lime Twist card stock and ran it through the Big Shot inside the new Corrugated Embossing Folder.  I put that inside the Clear Tiny Treat box to fill the space around the candy inside the box.  The little chick was colored with the Stampin’ Write Markers.  Tie the ombre ribbon around the box and then add the finished tag.

Be sure to catch me on my FB Business page At Monika’s Place on Wednesday afternoon for a Facebook Live showing you some other cute treat ideas with this stamp set. I’m planning to go live at 3:00 pm EST.

Happy Halloween

Well in the case of my card – Happy OWLoween!

It’s a fun card using products from the Spooky Night Suite.

happy-owloween

The fun Spooky Night Designer Series Paper has the spooky trees that you can stamp the owl right on to.  Then I used the witches hat print and cut out a hat to add on the owl.  And the eyes are sparkly with the Black Rhinestones.

I stamped the Happy OWLoween stamp and punched with the 1″ circle punch and then used a 1/16″ punch for a tiny hole to string some Black Baker’s Twine through.

TIP: I often take my clear mount stamps and cut them apart when images and words are on the same stamp.  So when I want to use them separately I can.  And when I want to use them together I just mount them back together on my clear block.  In this set the owl eyes and the Happy OWLoween together but I cut them apart.

Have a Happy Halloween!

Seasonal Tags for Cards

I love the new Seasonal Chums stamp set and Seasonal Tags Framelits Dies in the Holiday catalog.  They make quick and easy fold over tags.  Each image has a front and a back and the dies cut out both at the same time.  But the images are perfect for cards too.

Seasonal-Tags-Halloween

This one uses the Pumpkin for a Halloween card – and there is the little bat in the die set!

So the story behind this card design is this – I was preparing for a card class and cut and scored a stack of card bases.  Only to realize that I had scored them all at 4″ instead of 4-1/4″.  Oops!  I didn’t want to throw out all my nice thick card stock so I set it aside until I figured out what to do.  Later this card design was born.  I trimmed the back side to 4-1/4″ and that left the front side short at 4″.  The solution was to add a strip of Designer Paper on the inside so it peeks out to the front!  I really loved this – it’s also a great way to use up little strips of designer paper.

For this card I used the Painted Harvest Designer Series Paper – it’s part of the October Paper Sale.  The colors of my Stitched Circles came from the paper – Lemon Lime Twist and Peekaboo Peach.  I also water-colored my pumpkins to match using the Tangerine Tango, Garden Green in addition to the Peekaboo Peach and Lemon Lime Twist.

After stamping and water-coloring the pumpkins I cut them with the dies and then cut the front and back apart to add to the card.  There is also some Black Metallic Thread and the little bat.

So don’t worry when you cut or score something wrong – just set it aside for a bit until an idea comes up.  You never know what creations you will get out of the mistakes you make.  Sometimes they are better than what you started with!

Enjoy your day!

Cat Tags

Quick and cute little tags using the cat punch.

cat-tags

I used just a few basic supplies to make these tags.

Very Vanilla card stock cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  Basic Black card stock punched with the Starburst punch.  And of course the cat is punched with the cat punch – it’s actually the Spooky Night Designer Series paper – the cat print matches right up with the punch. The words are from the Pieces & Patterns stamp set.

I did pull in some retired Baker’s Twine that was Pumpkin Pie & Black. That was fun twine I think from last years Holiday Catalog.  I tend to have lots of Baker’s Twine and keep all of it to use on my tags.

Have a great day!

Halloween Pumpkins

Remember  a few days ago I posted about the Spooky Cat Bundle and the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper – you can read it HERE.  I was telling you about the Designer Series paper and how some of the designs were special.  For this card I used the Pumpkin print paper which coordinates with the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies.

Those little pumpkins are from the Spooky Nights Designer Series paper – cut perfectly with the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies.  I also used two other strips of paper from the pack.  The stamps are from the Spooky Cat stamp set – the “Happy Halloween” and also the little striped image at the top.  Plus I added Black Rhinestone Jewels.

It’s a very quick and easy card.
