Feb 11, 2010 | Big Shot, Chipboard, Create with Connie & Julie, Designer Series Paper, Occasion Mini 2010, Stamper's Club |
This project is a combination of ideas – the chipboard heart box idea is from Mary Brown – one of the designers for the Create with Connie & Julie class (you can still join the class) – the quilted decorating idea is from a swap card that I saw at my friend Wendy’s house – and the flower idea is from the Stampin’ Success Magazine – a magazine for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. I put all three ideas together and – ta – da ………………………

Isn’t it cute? I used the On Board Chipboard hearts to create the box following Mary’s instructions. Then I decorated the front heart using punched squares from the various papers in the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. We punched holes in the top corner with the Crop-A-Dile and added the Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon bow.
The flower is made with the Jumbo Heart Punch – punch four hearts – then I ran them through the Big Shot using the new Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder. The center is a circle punch and then I used a Real Red Corduroy brad to hold the flower pieces together. Everything is sponged in Chocolate Chip to soften all the edges.
Add something inside the box and you have a nice gift or table center piece. This was a club project that we made at the February Stamper’s Club Meeting. I’m adding new members to my club right now and we’ll have our next meeting in March. Email me if you live nearby and want to join my stamp club.
Here is another version of this project decorated with the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper. This one looks like spring instead of Valentine’s day. You could use it for Mother’s Day, or a Bridal Shower or Baby Shower or just to celebrate spring.
The chipboard shapes are much larger than I thought they were looking at them in the Occasions Mini Catalog. You get 8 chipboard pieces in each pack for $4.95. So you can make 4 boxes out of each pack. And there are two other shapes – the scallop circle and a bird.
Thanks for stopping in to see me today!

Feb 9, 2010 | Cards, Create with Connie & Julie, Sale-A-Bration 2010 |
This is my second attempt at the Color Challenge this week on Create with Connie & Julie. The colors are Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. A tough one for me and I wasn’t thrilled with my first card so I had to try again.
This is my attempt at creating Rainbow Row. If you have ever been to Charleston, South Carolina that is where you find Rainbow Row. A row of brightly colored houses along the water front. Combine the bright colors from this color challenge with the Good Neighbors stamp set and you think of Rainbow Row.
The houses and trees are stamped with Black StazOn ink on Watercolor paper and then watercolored with an Aquapainter and classic ink. Each was cut out – the roof tops are separate from the houses. I attached all the pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the front of a piece of Kraft card stock.
I based my card on a painting of Rainbow Row that I found online. So I tried to add the stars and the moon and the shadows like they had in the painting – let just say I need to stick to stamping and not painting.
If you are a member of the Create with Connie & Julie class you can play along with the Color Challenge this week. Good Luck to everyone that participates. Prizes this week include Well-Scripted stamp set and Hugs Love Notes! And if you aren’t a member – it’s not too late to join – we still have lots of great projects. We’ve already shared over 18 tutorials, with step by step instructions and pictures that you are welcome to use in Stamp Camps and Classes. In addition, we share daily projects that contain instructions, tips and a full supply list for you to duplicate the projects.
I hope you have a “Colorful” day today!

Feb 6, 2010 | Big Shot, Create with Connie & Julie, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010 |
It’s Saturday and time for another challenge at Create with Connie & Julie! This week our challenge is a COLOR challenge – Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. The featured items this week are from the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration brochure – Good Neighbors stamp set and the Welcome Neighbor Designer paper pack.
Congratulations to last weeks winners – Robin Gregor was first place and Sandra Hansen was second place and Jeannine Norder earn an Honorable Mention. Thanks for playing along last week!
This was a hard challenge for me – putting these colors together is not in my comfort zone. So I went through a few different versions before settling on this one.
I used the Welcome Neighbor Designer paper pack for the flower – I’m not sure how well you can see it in the photo but there is a layer of Pumpkin Pie, then Crushed Curry and then Melon Mambo. All three sizes of the flowers have all three colors in the layer. Then I added a Pumpkin Pie Corduroy Brad in the center. The flowers are the Flower, Daisies #2 Bigz die for the Big Shot.
Then the designer paper pack is also the striped paper strip and the little butterfly. I also used the Good Neighbor stamp set on this card – can you see it? I used one of the trees stamped in Old Olive ink as the leaves under the flower.
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies for this card:
- Old Olive card stock and ink
- Crushed Curry card stock
- Welcome Neighbor Designer Paper pack (SAB)
- Scallop Trim Border Punch (SAB)
- Whimsical Words stamp set (SAB)
- Basic Black ink
- Good Neighbors stamp set (SAB)

Jan 30, 2010 | Big Shot, Birthday, Build-a-Bear, Create with Connie & Julie, Designer Series Paper, Occasion Mini 2010 |
It is time for another challenge at Create with Connie & Julie. This week our challenge was to create Kids Packaging. The items we are featuring this week from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini and Sale-a-Bration brochure include – Something Sweet, Fox & Friends, and Picnic Parade stamp sets, and the Build-A-Bear collection. I chose to create something with the Build-A-Bears – I have had lots of fun with them on other projects and this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a few weeks.
I think it really turned out cute…are you ready to see it? It is a real WOW in person. I wish you could see it in person.

The box is a nice size and you could use it for many different things. Dress the bears in baby colors and use it for a baby shower. Add the die-cut pieces for Easter and make them into Easter baskets, or some other holiday. Use it for a teacher gift – cut top notes and have each student write a note to the teacher and put them all in the box – give it to her for teacher appreciation day or her birthday (or his). Decorate the bears – like cheerleaders and football players or whatever sport your child is in for a coaches gift. This could be lots of fun – just dress up the bears the way you need them.
Do you love it? I have a tutorial for the members of Create with Connie & Julie. It is available only on the Create site! If you haven’t joined the class it is not to late – all the past projects are still there for you to see and we still have lots more to go. Have fun and I hope you play along with the challenge on Create with Connie & Julie – remember to add your link to the post on the site so you can win prizes!!! Every week we choose two winners from all the winners that play. Good Luck!
A BIG congratulations to Sandra Hansen who took 1st place in last week’s sketch challenge and Lisa Martz who got 2nd place! Congratulations ladies!
And here is a look at the rest of the Create team – 3 of us have tutorials this week but you have to me a class member to have access to them:

Jan 23, 2010 | Birthday, Create with Connie & Julie, Occasion Mini 2010, Rock 'n Roll, Rub-Ons, SU Ribbon |
It’s Challenge Day at the Create with Connie & Julie – Occasions Edition class. Congratulations to last weeks winners – Sue and Lori. Our challenge this week is a sketch challenge. Here is a look at the sketch:
This week in class we are featuring the following products from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog: Vintage Vogue stamp set, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, and from the Sale-A-Bration brochure the Vintage Labels SAB set. Class members are encouraged to participate in the challenges so you can win prizes each week! So get busy with this sketch challenge and then go to the class site and link your entry to the challenge post. Good Luck – I hope you win!
And here is my card for the sketch:

This card is a little bit different than a standard card – it is actually a mini card on a post card backing. So the piece that opens is the Chocolate Chip piece. Here is a photo from another angle:

And here is one of the inside:
Sometimes you only need a few words to say what you need to say so a small space is enough.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies used:
- More Mustard card stock and ink pad
- So Saffron card stock and ink pad and refill
- Chocolate Chip card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Vintage Vogue stamp set
- Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel
- Well Scripted stamp set
- Jumbo Handle, Jumbo ink cartridge
- Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon
- Linen Thread
- Chit Chat Rub-ons
- Earth Elements brads – More Mustard
- 5/16″ Jumbo Brads – Chocolate Chip
- Playground Designer buttons – More Mustard flower
- 1/16″ and 1/8″ handheld punches
- Mini Glue Dots
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
The large flowers are stamped using the Rock & Roll technique – ink first in So Saffron and then roll the edges in More Mustard ink. The small flowers are just stamped in More Mustard. All the flowers are cut out. For one large flower punch a hole in the center. Wrap the ribbon around the More Mustard card stock and pull both ends through the center of the flower – tie in a knot and trim the ends of the ribbon. Add the brads and buttons to the other flowers and add to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used a rub-on on the front of the card from the Chit Chat set in the regular catalog but there is a new set in the Occasions Mini called Chat Room. These rub-ons are such a great deal – you get about 200 greetings in each pack. Both of these sets have a variety of styles and sayings.

Jan 16, 2010 | Big Shot, Create with Connie & Julie, Designer Series Paper, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, Scrapbook Pages |
It’s Challenge Day at the Create with Connie & Julie – Occasions Edition class. Our challenge this week is a color challenge – Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip. This week in class we are featuring the following products from the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog: With All My Heart stamp set, Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the Sending Love Epoxy brads. If you aren’t part of the class yet you can still join – all the projects and tutorials that have already been featured are still available and there are 7 more weeks of new projects and everything will continue to be available to all members for a long time. Class members are encouraged to participate in the challenges so you can win prizes each week! So get busy with this color challenge and then go to the class site and link your entry to the challenge post. Good Luck – I hope you win!
Last weeks winners were Lisa Martz and Jessica Taylor. Congratulations ladies!
Here is my entry for this weeks color challenge:

This is a 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page and I used the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper and the Epoxy brads to create elements on this page.
I saw this idea at least a year ago where they showcased both sides of double-sided paper by folding over the ends. Some people hate not being able to see both sides of the paper so here is one solution to that. I cut strips of different widths. One end was scalloped with the Scallop Edge punch and then folded over and secured with one of the Chocolate Chip 1/4″ Epoxy brads.
I added doodling with the Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write marker. The title was cut with the Big Shot and the GoGo Boots Alphabet dies – I used a mixture of upper and lowercase letters in the title. And then added one little button from the Playground Designer Buttons. The photo is my niece – I took a bunch of pictures of her playing with this hat and this was one of the cutest ones – most of the time she had it completely covering her face and I was trying to play peek-a-boo with her – so this was right after she lifted the hat – cute!
