Last night was the Christmas concert for the High School Band. Both Tyler and Ryan were dressed up in tuxedos last night. I just love to see them dressed up like that. I wish I could have gotten some good pictures – but the auditorium was too dark and after wards they are more interested in their friends than letting me take a picture.
The heating repair man just left – our heat is not really working upstairs – it figures since it has been 10-20 degrees below average here the past few days. We had tiny snow flurries on Sunday – we are in Georgia and any kind of snow flurry makes everyone excited. I had to turn off my fountain because all the water is frozen and I don’t want the pump to burn out and it isn’t even getting warm enough to melt the ice during the day. I’m waiting on the repair man to come back – he had to go get a part for the heater which will hopefully fix it. Sigh…..
Today’s project is another Christmas Card from my Holiday Stamp-a-Stack class last month. This one took the longest to make only because it has a lot of pieces to attach. It uses the Tags til Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog – but rather than making tags out of them they are the ornaments on the front of this card.
If you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you might recognize this card. It was in the November Stampin’ Success magazine. That is the monthly magazine that all demonstrators get and it has lots of great information and ideas for us. I really liked how they used all the different images as ornaments on the front of the card. Here are some details about the card:
– The card base is Always Artichoke.
– The next layer is Pear Pizzazz card stock and it was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate – do this after you stamp the greeting. I stamped mine in Always Artichoke ink. After I added the texture I used the Color Spritzer and the Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker to add some spritz here and there.
– Then the ornaments – the ornament shape was stamped on Whisper White card stock with Baja Breeze ink and punched out with the Ornament punch. I added a small pearl to the center of the design. “Dec. 25″ was stamped on Whisper White card stock with Cherry Cobbler ink and then punched out with the small oval (now called the 1-3/8″ x 5/8″ Oval Large) punch. Punch a 1/16″ hole in the top and add some white crochet thread to that one. The Holly is stamped on Always Artichoke card stock with Always Artichoke ink and punched out with the 3/4″ x 15/16″ Oval punch. The snowflake on my card actually comes from the Season of Friendship stamp set – it was stamped on Pear Pizzazz card stock with Always Artichoke ink and punched with the 3/4″ circle punch. Last punch a 1” circle out of Cherry Cobbler card stock. Then stamp the word block from Tags til Christmas on Whisper White card stock with Cherry Cobbler ink. Cut out the word “CHRISTMAS”. Glue that piece to the circle. Then I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write marker to add dots above and below the word. Trim any white that hangs over the edges of the circle.
– Add the ornaments to the front of the card – all are on Stampin’ Dimensionals except the holly. Draw the “strings” with a ruler and Always Artichoke marker. Attach the string for the Dec 25th ornament to the back of the layer and then attach that to the front of the card base.
Stamp a matching envelope using one of the same images and you have a cute card.

I missed last weeks color challenge but I’m here again this week. We are on week #13 click on this link to go to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge. Here is our inspiration for this week:
Just the right colors for working on Christmas projects. I had a workshop on Sunday afternoon and my hostess, Molly, wanted to learn how to make stamped candles. So that was what I did and used these colors on one of my candles. Here is the sample for the Color Inspiration and I’ll show you another example at the end of the instructions. Yes – I’m going to give you instructions on how to make these cute candles.
This example uses the colors for this weeks challenge – More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Real Red. This stamp set is called Holiday Lineup from the big Idea Book & Catalog. I really like all the characters – these are the elves, then there are the snowmen and the reindeer. All of them have the funniest facial expressions – I just wonder what they are all thinking about.
Are you wondering how to make a candle like this all by yourself. Well you need a few things – first you need tissue paper – the white kind that you put in your gift boxes – you probably have some of that around right now with Christmas coming up soon. You also need some wax paper – from the kitchen. You want your stamp set, Stampin’ Write markers and I used Jet Black StazOn ink but you could do this with regular classic black ink. And you need the heat tool. You can add the embellishments to dress it up if you want to.

earned how to make these candles a long time ago and it is always so magical to me. First stamp your image on a piece of tissue paper – I stamped mine with Jet Black StazOn. Then color with the Stampin’ Write markers. Make sure you have grid paper or scratch paper underneath because the darker markers will bleed through because the tissue is so thin. Once I’m done coloring I tear the tissue close to the image all the way around. You may ask why don’t I cut around – when you tear you leave a soft feathered edge, when you cut you leave a defined edge which in my opinion shows through when you apply it to the candle – the feathered edge disappears.

Once you are done tearing all the way around then position the tissue paper where you want it on the candle. I used a short pillar candle with enough room to add ribbon underneath. I also used this same stamp set on little votive candles and the images just fit between the bottom and the top edge of the candle – they are really cute too.
Wrap with wax paper and hold like a handle
Now you are going to wrap a piece of wax paper around the candle covering the tissue paper. Pull it tight and on the back of the candle hold the two ends together. This creates a handle for you to hold the candle while you heat it.
Now you need your Heat Tool – start at one end of the image on the tissue paper and start heating. You will see the tissue paper disappear into the candle. In this photo on the left you can see where I have heated it – the first two elves are melted in. Where the third elf is and over towards the right I haven’t heated it yet so you can still see the tissue paper.

Continue heating until all the tissue disappears. This does not take long and do not stay on one section of the candle too long because you will melt the candle wax. It’s like magic when all the tissue paper disappears but the image is still there.

Once your done with the heating you peel off the wax paper revealing your stamped image on your candle.
To decorate the candle I wrapped a piece of grosgrain ribbon around the bottom – fold the edge underneath itself. Use a paper piercer to put a hole through the layers of the ribbon and into the candle. Then use a Rhinestone brad and poke it through the ribbon and into the candle where the hole is.
To finish I used the Big Shot and the Scallop Circle #2 die to cut a piece of card stock to set the candle on. It’s not necessary but I thought it added a nice touch.
Here is the one with the snowmen that I made for my Sunday workshop. For this one I added a tag to the top so you could give it as a gift to someone.

I forgot to post something on Sunday – ran out of time – if you are looking for Bingo the next piece is at the bottom of this post.
Last month I had a Holiday Stamp-a-Stack class. I had four cards that were fairly quick and easy to replicate and everyone that came to the class made four of each card plus coordinating envelopes. They left with a nice little stack of Christmas cards ready to send out to those that they love. I wanted to share those with you and here is the first one. We also made this at my card club meeting this past week and I demoed it at a workshop I had this weekend.
This card idea was one that I found last year from Cindy B. – I started keeping a file on my computer with ideas that I like and I have a folder by stamp set – so this was in my Dasher folder – to help me remember where I found the idea I try to put the name of the person or blog in my file name. So I don’t have a full last name for this one – it just said designed by Cindy B. on the watermark of the picture. I made a few changes from the original but the idea of the card is the same.
This is also a great idea for using up scraps of your designer series paper. For my card I used the Deck the Halls Designer Series paper – I had scraps left from other projects. I used a variety of circle punches to get all the circles from the scraps – the 2-1/2″ circle, 1-3/4″ circle, 1-3/8″ circle, 3/4″ circle and 1/2″ circle. The different circles are just layered on the edge of a piece of Very Vanilla card stock – and then trimmed what hangs over the edge.
Next to the circle I stamped Dasher in Soft Suede ink and underneath I stamped Merry Christmas – which is from the Christmas Greetings stamp set. Then I attached the Very Vanilla to a Soft Suede card base. The matching envelope has Dasher on it too.
If you want to add a bit of bling – use a 2-way glue pen on the antlers and where the snowflakes are mixed in then sprinkle with the Glass Glitter from the Holiday Mini catalog – shake off the excess. If you want something less chunky use the Dazzling Diamonds.

One of the great thins about demonstrators getting together is we share ideas and things we have learned with one another. At my November meeting I asked Cindy Schuster to do a presentation for the meeting. She told us lots of great information, showed us 12×12 Individual pages that she had printed by Stampin’ Up! and showed us how to make a Hybrid project using My Digital Studio. Hybrid project use a combination of digital and traditional to create a finished project. Cindy even brought materials for everyone at the meeting to create our own hybrid card for one of our Make&Take projects – how great is she!

There are two elements that were created using My Digital Studio – the patterned paper layer that is on top of the Real Red card stock base. The elements are from the Candy Cane Lane Photocard Digital Kit digital download. Two of the different paper patterns are combined on the back and then a punched edge was added in between them.
The top layer added the ornament elements and then a greeting. The two different MDS elements were printed on Whisper White card stock. We cut them out and layered them on the Real Red card stock – it was a quick card to put together. You could even add ribbon, or glitter or other elements.

I found this cute project at Create with Connie & Mary. It was a preview project for the holiday class and Connie originally made it as a Halloween countdown project. I decided it would be perfect as a Christmas countdown project – but you could use it to countdown all kinds of things – mine as 24 numbers like Connie’s but you could do half and just do a 12 day countdown or find a different size gum pack – I think there are some that might have 14 pieces instead of 12 – that would be perfect for Valentine’s day. We made this in my Stamper’s Club last month. Anyway onto my creation.
Here is the front view. I used Real Red card stock to create the box – you can get the instructions from the Create site (link is above). I decorated with the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series paper from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog. Unfortunately this cute paper was very popular and is now sold out. It had two sheets with glitter accents – one is the paper on the front of this project – the red dots are glittered and the other was the striped pattern that had red glitter stripes.
I’m not typically a glitter girl – I don’t like that it gets everywhere – so this paper works for me because it is built in to the paper and there is no mess! While the paper is now sold out it is also available as a Digital Download for My Digital Studio – so you can still have the patterns but you would have to add your own glitter.
I used the Real Red wide striped ribbon to close this one up. Stephanie and I made 6 of these over the Thanksgiving break and we used different ribbons on them. The front is the cute Snow Globe stamp from the Holiday Mini. I stamped it once in Read Red and cut it out and then stamped it a second time – inked with Baja Breeze ink and then use a Garden Green marker to color the two trees before stamping on the Whisper White card stock. Punch out with the 1-3/4″ Circle punch and then layered it back on top of the red one. I did break down and add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter here – just a very little bit – I used the 2-Way glue pen to put some glue on the snowflakes, the top of the house and the trees, and then sprinkled on a little bit of glitter. Now do you want to see the inside?
When you untie the ribbon and open it up there are two pockets on the inside and in each pocket is a pack of gum. These packs each have 12 pieces and I used the Calendar Alphabet and Number set to stamp numbers, punch them out with the 1/2″ circle punch and glued them onto each piece.
So I had one for each of my boys. I gave one to Kyle when I took him back to college last Sunday night. Then on Wednesday I gave one to Tyler – so he looked at it and said “that’s nice Mom”. I said “open it”. And he did and then he closed it and nothing. I figure he is 17 and it should be obvious what it is right – he hands it back to me and says thanks. And then says “Mom, I don’t like gum. I haven’t liked gum since I was like 5 years old.” What? How do I not know that – I knew during the time he wore braces he didn’t chew gum because he wasn’t supposed to. But doesn’t everyone chew gum? Maybe not all the time but on occasion. He told me thanks but I could give it to someone else.
So then I had one for Ryan – which I was sort of in a dilemma over anyway because he DOES have braces and can’t chew gum. My plan A was to find another candy to fit inside the openings – and pop out all the gum, but the other candy in and figure out how to cover it back up with foil or something. My Plan B thought was to give it to him and then trade him the pieces of gum each day for a mint of something. But then when Tyler gave me his back I ended up not even bothering to give one to Ryan. Was that bad? Now I think I’ll give the two to my niece and nephew – they’ll just get them a little late – but I bet they will chew the gum!
Not to worry I have other countdown/advent creations – I just have to get the candy to fill them and another one I’m still creating. Now my boys will just have to start their countdown a few days late. I suppose at their age the countdown to Christmas is quiet the same as it was when they were little…..

Here is the swap that Cindy G. made – she came to the meeting all the way from Tenn. She was visiting Linda and it worked out for her to join us for the meeting. And we may be going to see her right after Leadership for some stamping fun.
These are the cute little mini Lunch Sacks in the Holiday Mini catalog – the same ones that I used for my swap. She used the Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel called Jolly Jingles – it is also in the Holiday Mini. The top is tied with Night of Navy Taffeta Ribbon.
The snowflakes are cut from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip die for the Big Shot. It cuts eight different snowflakes for you at once. The little stamped snowflake in Bashful Blue is from the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set that coordinates with the Bingo Card that I have been using for my Bingo game.
The last one is a cello bag filled with cookies and tied with a cute tag – this one was created by Marie – one of the new demonstrators on my team. She used the Bells & Boughs stamp set and colored in her image with some festive holiday colors. Layer on card stock – punch the whole and tie on with some hemp.
Marie used different colors of card stock for her different tags. It’s nice to see this stamp set used with different colors besides those that are shown in the Mini Catalog.
Did you know that what attracts you to certain stamp sets is often the colors that it is presented in when the examples are shown in the catalog? Often times you won’t notice a stamp set because the samples are not in colors that appeal to you. Then the following year it is shown in the catalog with colors that are all you and you see the set for the first time! Interesting isn’t it?
Several people have been asking about how they can join the Bingo game. Right now I am not taking any more names for Bingo. I am going to take a break after we finish with Round 7 that is playing right now. In the future I plan to play again but I don’t know when that will be just yet. When I’m ready it will be announced on my blog – so I hope you will continue to visit until that time comes.
