Nov 29, 2012 | Big Shot, Cards, Christmas, Create with Connie & Mary |
It is time for a new Thursday challenge at Create with Connie & Mary. It seems like it has been a long time – but it has really just been two weeks. I hope you enjoyed the double challenge – the shaped card using the sketch. But now it is time for a new one and this week is a color challenge – Wisteria Wonder, Baja Breeze, Silver Glimmer.

The only think I could think of was snowflakes. So I made some silver glimmer snowflakes and took a card I had made a couple of weeks ago and modified it to fit this color challenge. I originally saw a similar card on Pinterest and then on Heather Summer’s blog.

The card base is Baja Breeze. I cut strips of Whisper White and embossed them with the Snow Flurry embossing folder – and I actually go to use my new Texture Boutique Embosser – which Stampin’ Up! briefly had for sale – but they sold out so quickly – I do hope they get more in so everyone else can buy one too. After they were embossed I cut the ends to turn them into flags and attached them to the card base. I stamped the Christmas Blessings in Wisteria Wonder. I cut snowflakes with the Big Shot and the Silver Glimmer paper. The top one was colored with the Wisteria Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker (I’m not positive that I like that – I think I should have left it silver). I layered all the snowflakes and put the Wisteria Wonder brad through the center and then finally added a bit of Baja Breeze Seam Binding ribbon behind it.
Finally I decided to get my Silver smooch and spray the whole card to give it more glimmer. It really doesn’t look good in the picture – it looks better in person – but I’m just not much of a glimmer girl so maybe I should have done without.
In any case this is my color challenge card for this week.

Have you seen the sale list this week? There are some great deals on there. Including the stamp set called Happy Hour – it is on sale for 25% off during the Online Extravaganza. And I have it on my order. But until I get it here so I can create with it I do have one card idea to show you. I participated in a WOW Christmas Card swap just recently and one of the creations used that set. The card was made by Carol Snow.

I love the little rhinestones in the glass for the ice!! Isn’t that the greatest idea?
This is one of those sets that you can use for many occasions all year long and I didn’t even realize it had the candy cane as part of the set but it does. Here is a picture of all the images.

It is a fun party set so add it to your list while it is on sale!

Nov 19, 2012 | Christmas, Demonstrator, Embossing, Fabric, Holiday catalog 2012, Punch Art |
At my last PAWS team meeting we had a treat wrapper swap and I wanted to share all the cute ideas with you. Hopefully I remembered correctly who made all of these (I don’t have them with me to check). I’m in VA at my sister-in-laws house – we did some crafting yesterday and have plans to do more – I’ll share those ideas later.

Anne’s swap – reindeer treat cups – color the large pearl with a red sharpie for the red nose

Fran’s swap – a little purse made from the framelits – she showed us how to make these for one of our M&T projects

Joyce’s swap – Two Tags die Mr. & Mrs. snowman

Laree’s swap – hot cocoa pocket

Leishman’s Swap – Pillow Pocket pouch

Lisa’s swap – Hot cocoa pouch

Monika’s Swap – rolo snowmen with fabric hats and scarves
My snowman idea came from Cindee Wilkinson – I thought the ones she posted were so cute I wanted to make something similar. The eyes are pearls and I colored mine by mashing them into my versamark ink pad so they got covered with ink then pouring black embossing powder over them – then I carefully heat set – and then I had black pearls. I did use our new Heat Tool which has a high and a low setting – I imagine if it was too hot you could melt or burn these pearls – so do it carefully. I’m going to try some of our other colored embossing powders too.

I wanted a punched nose and was trying to figure out which punch to use – finally I realized the Mitten Punch was perfect – use the thumb for the nose – here is what it looks like when I punched it –

Then I used a Pumpkin Pie marker to add some lines like a real carrot would have. Sponge the edges a bit too to add some dimension to it. It was the perfect little carrot nose.
Our meetings are so much fun – I enjoying getting together with everyone – my downline, my adopted downline and all my sidelines. Come join my team and join the fun! Join today and take advantage of the Online Extravaganza specials and the ONE DAY only Doorbusters – you could really build a deal of starter kit – plus you still get the free st of Ink Pads too! Join today by visiting my website and then you can take advantage of all the added demonstrator discounts for the rest of the week. If you have questions send me an email – I’ll be checking throughout the day!
And here is a picture of most of the group that was at the meeting – Joyce is missing and I’m missing (I was behind the camera).

Nov 14, 2012 | Big Shot, Christmas, Holiday catalog 2012, Holiday Gift Making |
Well I see now that I never did get my post done yesterday – oops. I started working on it and evidently got distracted. And apparently it was a common trend for me yesterday. I even forgot to finish my challenge card for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary challenge – but I got it done – stayed up late and it turned out cute – but my camera battery was dead so instead I used my cell phone to take the photo – it’s not the best but its pretty good. But you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see that so be sure to check back then.
So what I planned to post yesterday was an ornament project that I made with my Stamp Club a while back – I think it was our October meeting.

This one is similar to one in the Holiday catalog on page 3. I just changed the center a bit using the Brass button. Then I also made another one in my Hands On class later in the month – it looks like this –

This one is my favorite. It’s similar to the one on the front cover of the Holiday Catalog but I used different colors and changed the center. I love this Tulle! I think I need to get lots more before the Holiday catalog ends. These are not hard to make just time consuming because you have to stamp so many pieces, then cut each one with the framelit – having multiple sets of the framelits would speed things up, and then gluing them all together. This Espresso ornament will be available as a project in my Holiday Gift Making class and the other one will too but I’m going to create it to match the other one – so it will also be Espresso. The email for that will go out today. The projects are made and I did all the supply lists and pricing, took the photos, just editing and creating the flyer and then I’ll get the email out and take registrations.
Thanks for visiting today!

Nov 6, 2012 | Christmas, Demonstrator |
Stampin’ Up! is giving everyone a glimpse of what demonstrators get in the mail every other month. Some of our Stampin’ Success articles will be made available to everyone. Here is what they have to say –
Like what you see?
This is just a small sampling of the magazine our demonstrators receive every other month.
Our bimonthly Stampin’ Success magazine is filled with project ideas, business ideas, advice, and recognition for our demonstrators. If you want to see more ideas call your demonstrator and plan a party. You can gather your friends for a girls’ night out. And if you want to receive the full magazine in the mail every other month she can help you join. Just ask.
At Stampin’ Up! we’re all about creativity. Try us out.
So here you go – this is a peek at the November/December 2012 issue – check out the Stampin’ Success Magazine HERE.
