Owl Bag Tag

The Late Night Stampers group had an Owl contest during May – you had to create something using the chipboard owl from the On Board So Tweet Chipboard (not retiring – yeah!).  The owl is also the “mascot” for the Late Night Stampers group – that makes sense to me…..

Since I am new to the group I decided to make a bag tag to add to my convention bag so when I’m walking around other people in the group will know that I am part of the group too.  So if you are in the Late Night Stampers group make sure you look for me at convention and say “Hi!”.   So here is my Owl Bag Tag:

owl-tagAren’t the eyes the cutest!  This idea came from my friend (and downline) Michele – it was on a card that she made and showed me a few months ago. Just use the 3/4″ circle punch to punch from the Good Morning Sunshine paper.  Use the Anywhere glue stick to attach to the little chipboard circles.

Several people asked about the “texture” on the owl’s body – there isn’t really any texture at all – first I used Chocolate Chip Craft ink to “paint” my owl – I use a sponge dauber for this – and let it dry.  Then I took the leaf image from the Great Friends stamp set (Occasions Mini catalog) and stamped all over it with Chocolate Chip classic ink.  I tought it would give a faint hint of feathers….

The branch and leaves are covered with Old Olive craft ink, the flowers with Ruby Red craft ink and the center is a pencil eraser dipped in Chocoalte Chip craft ink, the beak is Pumpkin Pie craft ink.  The branch was cut apart and the extra leaf section is actually underneath the upper portion of the owl to help support him on the tag since his lower portion is attached on top of the branch I needed it to all be level.

The base piece is cut from the On Board Long Board chipboard using the Top Note die.  Then I cut two pieces of the Summer Sun print from Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series Paper – used the Anywhere glue stick to attach one to each side.  I decided to glue all the chipboard piece on with Crystal Effects – so it wouldn’t come off with the wear and tear of hanging it on my bag.

I used the Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the corner and added a book ring and a piece of ribbon.  The “LNS” letters are cut from the Billboard sizzlets strip.

I can’t wait to get to convention, get my bag an attach my tag.  Then I’ll also know which bag is mine since everyone will have the exact same bag once we get there!

Have a great day!monika-signature-2

So Tweet Scrapbook Page

so-tweet-left-pageThis is one of the scrapbook pages from my March scrapbook class.  It features the SO TWEET On Board Chipboard.  We colored the chipboard owl and branch using Craft ink and sponge daubers.  The large scallop edge is made with the 1″ circle punch.  Punch a bunch of 1″ circles and then attach them to the back of the card stock so that half of each circle is showing to form a large scallop egdge.  On the So Saffron background I stamped the image from the Good Friend stamp set in So Saffron classic ink.  so-tweet-right-page1

The chipboard bird is covered with Designer Series paper.  I lay my chipboard piece face down on the back side of the paper and trace with a pencil.  Then cut it out.  I use the Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the paper to the chipboard.  This gives you some “wiggle” room to slide your paper into position exactly where you want it.  And I like to go back with a sanding block and sand the edges.  If there is alot of overlapping paper I trim it with my paper snips before sanding.  The eye, legs and beak were colored with the craft inks and a sponge dauber.  This little bird is singing “Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!”.  The stamp is from the Stem Saying stamp set and works perfectly for a singing bird.

When we visited my parents this week we also celbrated my birthday.  I haven’t seen them or my brother and his family in over a month (before my birthday), so this was our first chance to get together.  I didn’t know my mom had a cake for me but she did and everyone sang happy birthday to me too.  I have some pictures and think they will be perfect on this page.  I need to get them printed soon and get them on here.

Please visit the other blog I created for the WowSrapbookKits that Wendy and I are doing.  Go to wowscrapbookkits.wordpress.com to get all the details.  There is also a permanent link on my Blog roll on the right sidebar.  I am making a list of questions that people have asked about the kits and I will post on that blog soon with the answers.

Have a Happy Scrappin’ Day!
