Apr 26, 2010 | Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Summer Mini 2010, Thank You |
I have been creating 3×3 tags for several months now and showing them on my blog as I create a new design. A few weeks ago I completed a challenge to take a 3×3 card and convert it to a full size card. I used this idea as a Stamp Club project earlier this month. So I had a thought that I would show each 3×3 card and a matching full sized card going forward.
This week I made a 3×3 card using the new Bouquet Bunch stamp set that will be in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog that begins on May 1st. CLICK here to see my original 3×3.
When I saw this weeks Stamping 411 challenge I knew exactly what I was going to do to convert this 3×3 card to a full size card.
This sketch was perfect for what I wanted to do. So I took my 3×3 and created my new full card using the 411 sketch.
What do you think? Didn’t it work out perfectly.
I took the 3×3 and added it to a Basic Grey card base.
I wrapped a piece of the Crushed Curry Polka Dot ribbon around the bottom. The ribbon is held on with the Linen Thread that is tied through the button. The button is from the Button Latte Designer Button set. I stamped another little bird on a piece of Whisper White and punched it with the Jewelry Tag punch – it was added underneath the button so it hangs out from behind.
Today is Monday and if you want a chance to win a FREE Subscription to Create with Connie & Mary you need to go visit Connie’s Blog to see her preview week project and enter to win. Good Luck!

Apr 16, 2010 | Cards, class, Flight of the Butterfly, Pocket Silhouettes, Thank You |
Flight of the Butterfly meets Pocket Silhouettes (and lets hope I spelled that right). These two stamp sets came together nicely in this card that was based on one that my friend Cindy created for a swap at our Starz Meeting last month. Here is the link to my post on her original card. I would have never put these colors together but I really like them and when I was looking at samples that one always stands out for me so I decided to use it for my class today. I changed the butterfly to use the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set which is a 2-step stampin’ set and what I featured in my class.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Soft Suede card stock and ink
- Regal Rose card stock and ink
- Barely Banana card stock and ink (this one is retiring)
- Pocket Silhouettes stamp set
- Flight of the Butterfly stamp set
- Butterfly Punch
- Trio Flower Punch
- Soft Subtles brads
- Eyelet Border Punch
- Crimper
- Paper Piercer
I really liked how Cindy added the lace border at the bottom. Punch a strip with the Eyelet border and then run it through the crimper. I also add a white panel on the inside that was stamped to match the front.
I didn’t have this in the picture but I decide it would be cute on the inside to stamp one of the curving sayings from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set on the inside and then the little butterfly to the left so it looks like the butterfly trail. That was an after thought so I did it after I took the picture. You’ll just have to imagine it.
I’m going to go play with a few of my new stamps while it is quiet here. Greg is out playing golf, Ryan is off at a tennis match. Kyle and Tyler are here but entertaining themselves or each other so it is actually quiet.
Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Cheep Talk is the stamp set I used to make this card:
The base of the card is Taken with Teal and will be one of the colors that will retire at the end of June – it is one of the colors I’ll miss the most. I love to use the Teal with Old Olive. We will be making this card in my card class tomorrow. I also decorated the inside – take a peek:
I hope you like it.
The more eggs – are more bird eggs that I found this morning. The chickadee has 4 eggs in her nest – they must have been a little hidden where I couldn’t see them – I actually thought there were only two but when I put the camera in to take the picture (she was away) the picture shows 4 eggs! They normally lay 5 – 7 eggs so maybe there will be another one tomorrow.
I’m so excited to have so many nests/eggs again this year!
Thanks for stopping by!

Apr 13, 2010 | 2-Step Stampin', Big Shot, Cards, In Colors, Thank You |
I just received my Summer Mini pre-order and the sneak peek Awash with Flowers stamp set – now it is time to plan out projects for the upcoming months and the Create with Connie & Mary class. I played first with the Awash with Flowers stamp set – this is a 2-step stampin’ set that is a sneak peek from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that will be out in July. I needed a project for my downline meeting that I had last night too. I decided to work with a sketch I found on the Stamping 411 blog for this week.
As you can see I have turned the sketch on its side for my version. I stamped the outline images first and then filled in with the solid images. I used a Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the flower stems and the little details coming out of the middle of the flowers.
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies:
- Awash with Flowers stamp set
- Tiny Tags stamp set
- Itty Bitty Background stamp set
- Melon Mambo card stock and ink
- Bermuda Bay card stock and ink
- Basic Black card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Staz-on ink Jet Black
- Rich Razzleberry ink and marker
- Old Olive ink and marker
- Scallop Trim Border Punch
- Black Gingham Ribbon
- Big Shot Die-Cut machine
- Perfect Details Texturz Plate
I thought it turned out cute – and bright and springy (is that a word). I made it into a Thank You card but this would be pretty as a Mother’s Day card too.
I have a few updates on the backyard birds – so House #3 has the bluebirds and they had 4 eggs before we left on our trip – I checked yesterday and mom is sitting on the eggs and there are still only 4 so she was done the day before we left. While we were away House #2 has a new nest in it – it appears to be a Chick-a-dee nest – moss and fur are in there – I just haven’t seen any birds going in or out yet – I don’t think there are any eggs in there yet. House #3 has a nest that was started before we left – looks to be a Tufted Titmouse – but I haven’t confirmed that yet either – it doesn’t appear to have any eggs unless they are buried.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Apr 8, 2010 | Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Julie, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, Thank You |
Hi everyone! Did you miss me? Sorry I have been MIA. I have been working on my Stampin’ Up! Artisan Award entries – nothing like waiting until the last minute. I think I get more creative with a deadline bearing down on top of me. Since Easter I have been frantically trying to finalize my last few projects, get them photographed (since I didn’t make duplicates), write the supply lists and carefully packaged to send the Stampin’ Up! So as of this morning they are on the way – postmarked by April the 10th according to the rules. Now it is time to wait – by the end of May they should have decided on and contacted the winners. I can’t show you any of the projects so you will have to wait until later – sorry. And then I shopped and packed for our little Spring Break trip. Right now I’m sitting in the mountains of North Georgia! It should be a nice few days for a little get away.
Now are you ready for a project. I created this card for last months Birds & Butterflies class. The card is an additional design to a set of cards I created for the Create with Connie & Julie class that I guest designed for earlier this year. So if you particpated in that you can add this card to my Vintage Card Kit project.
This is a long card – the ones that fit in the small open end envelopes. The card base is So Saffron 6″ x 6″ folded in half with a Chocolate Chip piece of trim that was punched with the Scallop Trim border punch. The punch was part of the Sale-A-Bration rewards and isn’t available right now but it will be back in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog coming out in July. The Very Vintage Jumbo wheel was used on the base of the card and I also used the Color Spritzer to add some spritz to the card – you can do this just to the base or at the end so everything gets some spritz.
The Old Olive Strip was sent through the Big Shot Die -Cut machine with the Perfect Details texturz plate – I think this gives the look of lattice. I stamped the vine on it too and sponged it with Old Olive. The flowers and bird are punched from the Rich Razzleberry Patterns Designer Series Paper. The flowers are just circles that have been scrunched up. I added a yellow Rhinestone brad to the center of each. I thought these looked like Morning Glories.
I hope you like it. To create a matching envelope – use the wheel across one end and then stamp the vine.
Thanks for stopping by today! And the bluebird had 4 eggs on Wed afternoon.

Mar 26, 2010 | Sale-A-Bration 2010, Thank You, Upsy Daisy |
A quick post today with another 3×3 tag.
This one uses the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I stamped it in Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. Each one was stamped multiple times before re-inking so there are several shades of each color.
I added black doodling around the Melon Mambo base and some splatters with the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set. A small trim of Crushed Curry punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch is on one side.
I stamped the Thanks from the Picnic Parade and also the little ladybug is amongst the flowers.
I checked on the bluebirds this morning and it looks like she finished the nest in House #3 – so now I’ll start checking for eggs. I guess House #2 was just a decoy or practice nest.
Thanks for checking in today.
