bloomin-marvelous

It’s a Peek-a-boo style card and I got this idea from Dawn Olchefske.

Thanks Dawn for this beautiful card idea.  I pretty much used her card exactly.  No need to change something that was so pretty to begin with.

And more bird news – Egg #2 has arrived today –

egg-2

It’s pretty amazing.  This picture isn’t that great – it is with my iPhone and it was starting to rain when I snuck out to take a peek.  I checked earlier before the rain but no second egg – so this picture was taken within 3 or so hours of when she laid it.   Tomorrow I’ll see if there is another one – it should be one a day until she is done – usually with 4 or 5.

You may also want to follow my on Facebook – Stampin’ Up! has lots of specials and news coming out each week and I can get it out faster on my FB page than here on my blog – plus you may see some projects and other things on there that I’m not posting here.  I tried to add a link plus you can go to the right side-bar on my my blog and like my page then be sure to add it to your news feed so you can see as soon as something is updated.  This morning a big My Digital Studio announcement – what was MDS2+ is now going to be MDS and will be $19.95 – now there is no reason to keep putting off getting this product.  Read more about it on Mydigitalstudio.net (you can get there through my FB page too).

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hey Dude – a Birthday Card

Have you seen the Hey Dude kit made just for men?  It was introduced during the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference.  It’s a manly kit designed to help out the guys in our life to make cards for us of course.  Well I have a house full of guys and figured this was just what I needed to get for them.  So I did.

dude-your-welcome

It arrived at least a month ago (before Valentine’s Day) and I put it out for them to explore and use.  Well Valentine’s Day came and went – and I said to them – why didn’t you make me a card?  They all looked at me like what in the world was I talking about.  I said I got you this kit from Stampin’ Up! – Dude! You’re Welcome – it has everything you need to make me a card.  Greg says – yeah I opened it – I looked at it and I closed it back up.  I didn’t know I was supposed to make a card with it.    This would be a good place to use the stamp that says this “#%&@!”   – sigh – it didn’t work like I had planned.  But now they know how I feel about it and what they should be doing with it and it just so happens that my birthday is today!  And I was gone all day Saturday so there was time for them to use the kit without me even knowing about – yes the opportunity to surprise me.  And yes this time – Tyler came through – he got out the kit while I was gone on Saturday and put it to use to make my birthday card.  And here is the result –

tyler-card

Tyler looked through my stamps for a birthday stamp since the kit didn’t include one that specifically said that.  He found Easy Events and used the cupcake from that – it’s stamped in Island Indigo ink – that is what was lying on my craft table.

From the Dude Kit he used what looks to be 4 different postcard pieces  – on the base one he used the edge of the Special Occasion stamp and the Basic Gray ink to stamp several times.  And then he cut pieces of the other cards and layered them on.

tyler's-card

That was my birthday card from the boys!  Tyler even cleaned and put away the stamps too!

We actually celebrated my birthday Sunday evening so Kyle could come and join us.  I love to have all of the boys with me!  Dinner was great – a ton of food though – we took most of it home to eat as leftovers.  And my favorite Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream from Bruesters!

I have been home all day today doing mostly nothing – keeping up with birthday messages from Facebook friends, and playing a little in my craft room.  Tonight I’ll go to Panera for the My Digital Studio digi crop with the girls.

Thank you for all my birthday wishes!

Sale-A-Brate with Madison Avenue Again!

Here is another idea with the Madison Avenue stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration brochure.

bloomin-marvelous-note-card

I saw this idea on a blog from a demonstrator that lives in Germany.  She has such a unique style that I really love.  I thought this was a totally different look and way to use the Madison Avenue stamp set.  The flower image is stamped twice in each color.  Cut them out – one is the full flower and the other is the inside portion of the flower.  Then curl them just a bit on the ends and glue them together.  Add one of the new large Rhinestones in the center.

This is one of the little note cards – the come in a pack of 20 with matching envelopes.  A little bit smaller than the size card I usually make.  I spritzed the card and envelope with a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker and the Color Spritzer.  I added the stamped flowers and then punched some little flowers using the Itty Bitty Punch pack.  Add small rhinestones in the center of those.

Add a greeting to the card.  I used one from the Delightful Dozen stamp set.  The colors I used are Pool Party, So Saffron and Cherry Cobbler.  You could choose another combination of 3 colors.  Or something you already have on hand.  It’s a cute card and you could make a whole bunch using a pack of the note cards.  Here is a look at what you could order for $50 so that you get the Madison Avenue stamp set for free –

Create with Every Little Bit for St. Patrick’s Day

Can you believe that March is about to be here?  Where did February go?  I think it just went poof!   If time flies when you are having fun then I must be having a whole lot of FUN!  And today I have a cute little creation to get you all ready for St. Patrick’s Day which will be here any minute.  This week at Create with Connie & Mary we were issued a sketch challenge!  What to do.  What to do.  Here is the sketch for this week and once you see my card you will see that you can use this sketch for anything.

2013 Thursday Challenges-004

I finally decided since March got here so fast if I was going to do a St. Patrick’s Day card I better go ahead and get it done for my Card Maker’s class this week because when I have the next one it will be too late.  So that was the direction I went – on a search for ideas for St. Patrick’s Day.

ccmc241-monika

Here are the details on this card –

  • card base is Crumb Cake – stamp the greeting in the lower right corner
  • Stamp the clover image on Whisper White card stock and punch out with the 1″ square punch
  • Color the clovers with a Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Marker
  • punch from Lucky Limeade card stock with the Postage Stamp punch
  • Tie Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine around the front of the card and tie in a bow.
  • Layer the clovers on the stamps and add to the card with stampin’ dimensionals
  • And the final touch is a little bit of sparkle – I used Dazzling Details on each clover.
  • clover-close-up
  • Now you have something to make for St. Patrick’s Day!

Visit the Create with Connie & Mary site to see the creations from the rest of the design team and to submit your own creation for this new challenge.  I hope you will play along.  Every week the top 3 are announced from each challenge – maybe this week it will be you!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, Every Little Bit
  • Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
  • Accessories: Postage Stamp punch, 1″ Square punch, Dazzling Details, Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

And guess what – I have BONUS Card!  Yep I actually made another card with this sketch- using practically the same supplies.  Instead of the postage stamp punch I used the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die.  And I added a few more colors.

ccmc241-monika-2

ccmc241-monika2-insideThis is my attempt at trying to encourage spring to get here – we are having lots of rain, and I really want the sun, which should bring the flowers and the bees to pollinate everything….come on spring get here faster!

I hope you like this sketch!

Sale-A-Brate with Bloomin’ Marvelous

Another Sale-A-Bration card to share with you – this one uses the Bloomin’ Marvelous stamp set and the Vine Street Textured Embossing Folder along with a hint of the Sycamore Street Designer paper and ribbon.

bloomin-marvelous

This is a quick little 4-1/4″ square shaped card.  And here is how I made it –

  • Pool Party for the card base.  Emboss with the Vine Street Embossing folder – just 3 of the vines.
  • Stamp a couple of butterflies in Tangerine Tango and punch out with the little butterfly punch
  • Stamp “oh happy day” and punch out with the ticket punch – and punch a piece of the designer paper too
  • cut a couple of strips of ribbon
  • arrange everything on the front of the card
  • final touch is a bitty button tied with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine.
  • happiness!

Let’s Sale-A-Brate with Vintage Verses

Did you know you can make your stamps go a little bit further by using the Omitting Technique?  Maybe you haven’t even heard of this.  Well on this quick card that we saw at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference that is exactly what you’ll see.

Vintage-Verses-notecard

The Omitting Technique is basically where you omit a portion of the stamp image by not putting any ink on it.  The easiest way to do that is to use your Stampin’ Write Marker’s.  On this card the stamp image from the Vintage Verses stamp set has the detailed frame with words in the center.  Using the marker apply ink only to the frame and not the words, give it a little “huff” to make sure its all still moist and then stamp it on your paper.

vintage-stamp

It’s really that easy.

All the details of this quick card are right here:

  • The card base is one of the Note Cards from the Note Cards & Envelopes in the main catalog – these are white and come with 20 cards and envelopes in each pack.  They are 5″ x 3-1/2″ note cards with envelopes to fit.
  • Ink up the stamp with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker applying ink only to the frame (“Omitting Technique”) and stamp on the front of the note card.
  • Ink up the Thanks stamp with Jet Black StazOn ink and stamp over the frame.
  • Punch two butterflies from Vellum Card stock using the Elegant Butterfly stamp. Stick them together with a glue dot and add to the front of the note card with another glue dot.  Add a Rhinestone to the center (it cover’s the glue dot).
  • Tie a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the spine of the card.
  • Done!

You can get the Vintage Versus stamp set for FREE during Sale-A-Bration when you purchase $50 in Stampin’ Up! products.  So let’s see at what we have here –
