Convention – 3×3 Love Note Swap

For Convention I signed up for several organized swaps.  I think I did more this year than I have in past years.  At least it felt that way.  The one I’m going to show you today is the 3×3 Love Note Swap.  This was a large group – 160 total people but we were able to choose how many we wanted to make and swap.  I made 105 of these.

I know I had friends in this swap and I ran out before I got to them.  You should have seen the line – I think we made one huge circle throughout the North lobby of the convention center.  Everybody had their bag or box with the swap that they made and then a bag or box to get the ones from everyone else.  It was like trick-or-treating as everyone went down the line.  These were full 3×3 cards and on the inside was supposed to be each creators contact information in case we had questions.  I will be taking and posting pictures of those that I received and will try to include the persons name – I did notice the ones I looked at yesterday not all of them had a name.

So more about mine – the base is Textured Soft Suede card stock.  These are easiest to make from sheets of 12×12 card stock – because you cut them into 3×6 pieces and fold in half.  Then I have another layer of Textured Soft Suede card stock that was punched on both sides with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  Next is a Decorative Label punch piece in Baja Breeze.  The focal point is the image from the new Hostess set called Tagtastic – I used the Faux  Mother of Pearl Technique.  You can find my instructions in this post HERE.  I stamped the image in Soft Suede ink and colored the little flowers with Baja Breeze Stampin’ Write marker.

The final thing was to add the little flower – it is the punch from the Bitty Punch Pack – two of them in Baja Breeze – crumpled up and then layered with a pearl in the center.

I did get some family help on this one.  Greg helped crumple some of the flowers  – until he said his fingers hurt.  Tyler stuck my info label on the post it notes that went inside for the swap.

if you received this swap from me – I hope you liked it.  I think I gave them all away including my sample so I don’t have one here anymore.  I think I’ll make some more because I really like it.

Here is a list of things I have coming up next week – you can check out my schedule of events on my website and RSVP for anything you would like to attend.  CLICK HERE.

Wed. July 27th – Card Maker’s Club

Have a nice day!

Convention – Starz Meeting Swap

I am back from convention.  I got home about 10 pm last night and I am tired.   Convention was just a big WOW!  As always they get better every year.  Announcements, give-a-ways, prize patrol, classes, demos, swaps, everything is just the best.  If you are a demo and haven’t been make plans now to attend next year.  If you are not a demo then call me today and sign up with the $99 Starter Kit special so you can come with me next year.  I’ll be posting for the next week or two (or more) with things from convention.  Today I thought I would share the swap card that I made for the STARZ meeting.  Wendy Randall is my upline and her group is the STARZ group – there were about 20 or so of us that got together on Wednesday night for a meeting, swaps, sharing and make&takes.

This was the very last thing I did right before I left for convention – in fact I actually finished putting them together at the airport and on the airplane on Tuesday while I was traveling.

The base of the card is the new Lucky Limeade card stock.  Then I added a piece of the Hostess Designer Series paper called Cheerful Treat – I used three different patterns of the paper and I’ll add the pictures of the other two below.

Below the DSP is a strip of Pink Pirouette card stock that was punched with the Eyelet Border punch.

The main image is from the On the Grow stamp set in the Summer Mini catalog.  I love these flowers.  I stamped them on a Whisper White circle that was punched with the 2-1/2″ circle punch using StazOn Black ink and then watercolored the image with an aquapainter.  I used Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush, Lucky Limeade and Bashful Blue ink.  This is layered on a scallop circle of Wisteria Wonder.  I added doodles with the White Gel Pen and the “thinking of you” sentiment down at the bottom.

Here are the other versions:

Have a great day!

Convention Shoebox swap

I am here in Salt Lake City!!  I traveled with Cindy Schuster and Linda Madison – we left early this morning because I wanted to beat the Atlanta traffic and allow us plenty of time since you never know what will happen to the highway if somebody does something.  And we were early – really early – had no troubles at all until we got on the plane.  They boarded us and then we sat, and sat, and sat – an hour later we finally left the gate.  Maintenance had to fix a ventilation problem.

We have already met demonstrators at the Atlanta airport (Mary, Barbara), in the airplane (I didn’t get her name but we enjoyed talking to her), at the SLC airport (Gail, Kay and Kayla) in the shuttle (Sandy, Ann and several others) and of course at our hotel (Monica and Julia).  So many names to remember and I am not good at that so make sure you tell me every time you see me what your name is!!

So here we are (Cindy and I ) sitting on the plane –

And a couple of pictures from the plane –

And we are in the hotel, checked-in and unpacked.  Michele  Schmidt was already in the room and we are waiting on Dawn Bullock our new roommate that we haven’t met yet.  Once she is here we will get a quick dinner and then head on out to our shoebox swap.   Linda is staying in another room with Cindy Goehring.  So I am writing this on Tuesday but I’m scheduling it for posting on Wed. so when you read this it will all be from yesterday….even though I didn’t write it that way…..

So remember these card parts I showed you the other day – Well would you like to know what it becomes?  It is a peek-a-boo card – at least that is what I call it.

There is a hole in the front that shows the inside of the card through to the front.   The stamp set is the new Creative Elements stamp set.   I plan to post instructions but will do that after I return home so you can see how it is done.  I have a series of pictures but just don’t have time right now to do all the editing and write all the instructions.  If you are in my shoebox swap Tuesday night then you will either get a completed one or get to make one.  I’ll try to post again soon.

UDI Color Challenge #44

Today is the best Tuesday!  Why?  Because I am on my way to the Stampin’ Up! Convention!  Yeah – so much fun, so many friends, so many ideas….I can’t wait to get there.  I’m leaving all the boys behind and getting a full 6 days of girl time!

I have been super busy and away from home a lot – so my blog posts have been a little sparse – hopefully I’ll have time to set some up to post while I am away (like this one) or actually post from convention (if we have internet access).  So on to today’s color challenge from Utah Diva’s….

This weeks challenge is some bright summer colors.  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, and Riding Hood Red.   At first I thought what am I going to do with all those colors – they are pretty together but I just don’t know where to go with them.  They made me thing of a rainbow – which always makes me think of Roy G. Biv.  Do you know what that is?  I can’t even remember how long ago I learned that – probably elementary school somewhere.  But it is something I won’t ever forget.  Roy G. Biv – that is the colors of the rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.  And this weeks color challenge is real close to including all the colors of the rainbow.

I was caught up with the fact that there were five colors and some how wanted to have 5 different things like a rainbow of color – I thought letters and was thinking of 5 letter words.  And then I remembered the single stamp in the Summer Mini catalog – Hello Blossoms – that’s a five letter word – Hello.  So I pulled out the set and did some quick playing around with it.

Ultimately I covered up the Hello and went with the 5 blossoms and this is the result –

I ended up with a cute little 3×3 card!  I stamped the Hello Blossom stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The “grass” at the bottom is where I dragged the edge of the ink pad over the card stock – it gave the look of little hills of grass.  To add the color i decided to use the Sweet Buttons Embosslit and I cut one set of buttons in each color.  I put them in order of the rainbow.  Then I decided to add the little crinkled flowers to the center and pop in a tiny pearl.  Perfect result I think.  The buttons in the back give each flower a different personality.  The greeting is from a new Hostess stamp set called Perfect Words.   I chose the “you’re the BEST” – because you guys are the best!  The new Hostess program is going to be awesome.  My first hostess got TWO half-price items!! And she was able to get all the hostess sets that she wanted – instead of being limited to quantities and levels.

I hope you have a great week and if I don’t post this week – don’t despair, I’ll be back with posts after convention including all my convention swaps – although I hope to have those scheduled while I’m away.    Be back soon!

To much to do…. So little time

Just a quick hello to let you know I’m still here.  Just busy, busy.  Getting ready for convention, prepping for the classes that I had this week.  And we have been out of town so much the past few weeks that I can’t get it all done.  Here are a few pictures of my swaps….

That’s 105 3×3 cards for a swap I am in on Thursday afternoon at Convention – are you in my swap then you will get one.  I’ll show the actual card itself hopefully next week otherwise it will be after I get back – just depends on if I can get the posts written and scheduled before I leave.

And here is another one –

That’s 60 FULL cards for the UStamp swap on Wednesday afternoon.  If you are in that swap with me then you will get one of these.  And if not you’ll have to wait for my blog post to see it and the step by step instructions.  This one was way too many steps for such a large number or cards – I need to remember to cut back next time.  This card has taken me the longest to get ready.  It uses craft ink and heat embossing and dry embossing, and masking and I really like it but I don’t think I want to make any more…..

And look at this one

That’s the parts for 50 Full cards.  This one is my Shoebox swap on Tuesday night.  I had this card planned but wanted to use one of the new stamp sets from the catalog.  So I placed my order on July 1st with 2day air shipping – paid extra for that – and with the weekend and the holiday it all got here on Thursday night, but Friday was class day, so this is what I spent most of Saturday working on – this and finishing those Ustamp cards.  And prepping for today’s class.  Anyway this one is all set – 25 completed cards and 25 kits for the swap on Tuesday.  I hope to see you there.  And if you aren’t there I will have the card and directions posted later  – this one is a peek-a-boo card – that’s what I call it – maybe it has another name.

And I still have more things to get done –

Anyway – gotta go – i may not have any more posts for a while – we’ll see how my time goes…..i leave early Tuesday morning for convention…
