January PAWS Meeting

Last weekend I had my PAWS team meeting.  We covered some business topics, talked and shared about leadership, stamped some great projects, traded swaps and had a lot of fun!  I wanted to share some group pictures and our meeting Make&Takes.

Stephanie, Becky, Travice, Cindy, and Lisa

The girls here are working on a petal cone project using the new Petal Cone die from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  They had a choice of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight or Tangerine Tango for their box.  The sides were decorated with Designer Series paper and Pom-Pom trim.  This project idea actually came from a new site that I joined called the Paper Crafter’s Library.

You can fill the petal cones with candy or other small items.  Close up the top with some ribbon for this design.

Fran, Linda, Cindy, Cindy, Christine

In the other room the girls were working on a little card using the Take a Spin stamp set and spinner hands from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

This was a 3×3 birthday card and then has the extra scallop trim on the edge.  It will fit in our medium envelopes. Christine is holding her sample up.

The other end of the table is a card that Fran designed using a neat little punching technique to create a fancy frame.

Fran’s card uses a 3×3 inch square of card stock to start creating the border.  We did discover that you have to use the old style Eyelet border punch in order for this to work.  Center the Eyelet border punch on the center of each side of the square and punch – it leaves the four corners and a thin edge on the outside.  The new style border punch does not leave this edge.  Then punch all four sides again with the Scallop Trim border punch – this one is the new style.  It punches the fancy trim on all four edges that you see on the edges of this square.  The stamp set we used was Cute by the Inch for the center square.

Monika, Marie

Jenn also brought a Make&Take project along with a bunch of other Valentine treat ideas that she shared with everyone.  I forgot to take a picture of her other ideas but here is the little Tag Treat we made.

This little holder is cute for a table – I’ve used this idea before at the holidays and we put little mints, nuggets, or kisses in side the holder.  When I use them on a table they become place card holders and I just write names on them.

Jenn

Here is Jenn showing off the other project that we made.  Name tags using the new Sew Suite Fabric and the Designer Fabric covered brads in the Stampin’ Up! mini catalog.  This idea was shared on stage at the Leadership conference and I thought it would make a great project for our meeting.

To make the tags I used the white card board that comes in the back of the Designer Series paper packs.  It was cut using the Two-Tags die and the Big Shot – this is the tag with the scallop circle at one end – it is covered by the flower in the picture.  The flower is three 1/2″ by 6″ pieces of fabric.  The pieces are folded over and a Fabric Covered brad is pushed through the center.  The flower is attached to a piece of matching card stock that was punched with the Scallop Circle punch.  Add the flower to the tag and write your name on the front.  On the back glue a pin back so that you can attach it to your shirt.  I used Crystal Effects for my sample and allowed it to dry overnight, but in the meeting we used a hot glue gun.  At the next meeting I hope that everyone will wear their name tag so that we know who they are!

That was a look at our meeting and our M&Ts.  Our next team meeting will be in March and I’ll be adding the information to my Stampin’ Connection PAWS group in February.  Contact me if you would like information about joining my team or if you are a demonstrator and would like information about coming to my meeting.

Have a great day!

RBT – Scrapbook in a Box

This was the favorite project among everyone that left comments on the Royal Blog Tour.  It is the Scrapbook in a Box – and I didn’t even have any pictures in it yet.  I have them printed and will try to get them all on today and update this post later with a box filled with photos.

This is the box open with the lid off – and no pictures inside of it yet.  Actually this would be pretty (I think) with all the pictures in the Sepia tones – I may have to come back and do that later.

Here is the box all closed with the lid on.

My featured stamp set was the Winter Post stamp set – so all the stamping is done with that set.  Around the outside of the box along the bottom edge I decided to stamp the reindeer – there are 3 on each side and then there are snowflakes in the background.  All my edges are sponged and the whole thing is spritzed with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  The base is Crumb cake and the lid is Always Artichoke.

Here is a close up of the top of the lid.  There is a Crumb Cake layer on the Always Artichoke lid.  It was stamped with the snowflake image using Crumb Cake ink.  I stamped the snowflake image on Very Vanilla card stock and punched it out with the Ornament Punch.  It was sponged on the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  A piece of Linen Thread tied around the top and a pearl added to the center.  I put this on the top of the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the top of a bow made from the Always Artichoke Seam Binding.  And the top has the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on it too.

+The close up of the inside of the box has a Crumb Cake layer stamped with the snowflake image.  Then I stamped the Ice Skaters on it.  And I stamped them again on Very Vanilla card stock, colored them and cut them out – then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to put them on top of the ones I stamped.  It gives it a 3-D look and has a “shadow” underneath from the other stamped image.  I used a little bit of the pearlized smooch to add some accents on the girl and for the ice patch under the skates.

By the way their faces are colored in with the Blush Blossom Stampin’ Write Marker – which did not retire even though the ink and card stock did.  It is in the back of the catalog.

This box is much easier to create than you would think.  You basically have three layers – 12″ x 12″ (Crumb Cake), 10-1/2″ x 10-1/2″ (Always Artichoke), 9″ x 9″ (Very Vanilla).  Each layer is scored into a tic-tac-toe board – so the 12″ layer is scored at 4″ on all sides creating three 4″ squares across and down.  Then you cut away the four corner pieces – reserve those for mats for the lid and the center.  The 10-1/2″ layer is scored at 3-1/2″ on all sides creating three 3-1/2″ square across and down.  Then cut away the four corner pieces – reserve those for layers on the inside panels of the 12″ layer.  The 9″ layer is scored at 3″ on all sides creating three 3″ squares across and down.  Then cut away the four corner pieces – reserve those for the layers on the inside panels of the 10-1/2″ layer.   You end up with three layers shaped like a ‘+’ and you glue them all together in the centers by stacking them from largest to smallest.  Decorate the inside and outside of the layers.

For the lid you use an 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece – score all four sides at 1″ and 2-1/8″. Cut slits ONLY on TWO opposite ends from both of the 2 1/8” edge scores to the 2 1/8” interior scores.   See Diagram and cut on the dotted lines.  Fold over the 1” edge.  Fold over the 2 1/8” score.  Fold the long sides over first and overlap with the short sides.  Use sticky strip to adhere the sides.  This makes a clean edged sturdy lid.

To close the box – fold up the panels on all four sides and slide the lid on the top.  I added pictures to the inside panels of each layer – but you could add them on the outsides and the center too.  I made these as Mother’s Day gifts with a different color scheme and stamp set a few years ago.  This one I plan to put pictures of my boys from past Christmases.  I’m hoping to add the pictures today and get it photographed and posted.

I’m looking for a Bingo winner – I hope we get one before my vacation starts…..anybody….anybody…..

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 6 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I have now filled group 7 and won’t be taking any more names right now – I”ll be taking a Bingo break after group 7 plays – I may play again in the future so I hope you will continue to visit my blog.   See this POST for more details on how to play and the previous winners.

And now for today’s piece – Here is piece #14 –the sparkle/jack  from Hello Again stamp set (stamped in Concord Crush).

Anybody have Bingo?  Make sure you send me an email when you get your 5 in a row.

RBT – Joy Banner

Here is another look at the JOY Banner that I created for the Royal Blog Tour.  I decided to make this after I finished my BOO banner for Halloween.  I was happy with the way that one turned out and I remembered that I had purchased these wooden letters one year and never used them.  It was a good thing I had two sets of them because my first try on a couple of them did not produce the results I wanted.  I started with one of the letters being red and it didn’t look as good as these do with just the brown, green and vanilla.

These are store bought wood letters but you could make a similar project using Chipboard letters or cut them with the Big Shot – they would be smaller.  Basically I used Craft Ink to “paint” the wood.  And what I learned with the BOO banner was that the craft ink took a long time to dry on the wood.  So my solution was to cover the whole letter after I finished stamping on it with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  Then I decorated them.

Here are some more details on each letter.

The letter ‘J’ was covered with Chocolate Chit Craft ink and then Clear Embossed.  Then I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to spray the whole thing with a fine mist so it looked like a starry night sky.  I stamped eight of the Reindeer from the Winter Post stamp set on Very Vanilla card stock with Chocolate Chip ink and cut each one out.  Then I used Linen Thread to tie them together like they would be on the front of Santa’s Sleigh.  So these are the Reindeer flying through the night sky.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach them to the wood letter so they would have air behind them like they were flying.    To finish the ‘J’ I used some Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon tied around the neck of the letter, a punched Snowflake and a little button tied with Linen Thread finish it off.  The hanger is a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding tied at the base with a Very Vanilla button and Linen Thread.

The ‘O’ is covered with Old Olive Craft Ink and then stamped with the images from the Winter Post stamp set in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.  Then I covered the whole thing with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I stamped the snowflake image in Old Olive and punched it out with the Ornament Punch – it fits just perfectly.  I sponged the edges and then tied Linen Thread around the top and added a pearl in the center.  The Wide Striped Old Olive ribbon was cut in half which causes the edges to fray and adds a distressed look.  I tied a piece around the ‘O’ and into a bow and then added the stamped ornament to it.

For the hanger – by the way the letters already had holes in them for hanging – I pulled some Vanilla ribbon through and then tied an Old Olive button around it.  There is a punched snowflake behind the button.

The ‘Y’ is covered with Chocolate Chip Craft ink.  Then I stamped the snowflake in Whisper White Craft ink.  Then the whole thing was covered with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.  I added the basic pearls to the center of each snowflake.

I stamped the Ice Skaters on Very Vanilla card stock and water-colored the skaters.  Then I punched them out with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch.  I sponged the edges of the circle and then punched a hole in each side with the Crop-a-Dile.  I used Old Olive Satin Ribbon and pulled it through each of the holes and tied it around the ‘Y’ and in a bow on the side.

The hanger at the top is the same as the ‘O’ – except the ribbon was pulled through the two holes that were in the ‘Y’.

Here are a few more pictures.

That’s it.  I hope it all made sense to you.  It looks really pretty in person.  I think I may add some shimmer to the ‘O’ – it looks a little plain still.

I know we have some people that are close to a Bingo.  Is it you?  Will there be a winner today?

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 6 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I have now filled group 7 and won’t be taking any more names right now – I”ll be taking a Bingo break after group 7 plays – I may play again in the future so I hope you will continue to visit my blog.   See this POST for more details on how to play and the previous winners.

RBT – Winter Post Tags in a Box

And here is the next project from the Royal Blog Tour – this one is the set of tags in the clear box.  Not the most favorite but many people liked this one.  A nice little hostess gift for this time of year.

I decided to make 3×3 folding tags for this one.  So for each tag I cut a piece of Always Artichoke card stock at 6″ x 3″, then scored it at 3″ and folded in half.  I stamped on the front with the snowflake image using Always Artichoke ink.  I made 8 tags total to go inside the box.  On the front of each tag I layered a piece of Early Espresso card stock and then a piece of Deck the Halls Designer Series paper.

For most of the tags I used the Ornament Punch.  I stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.  The skater couple fits nicely in the ornament – I colored them in with Stampin’ Write markers and then used the Smooch Accent Ink to color in the girls hat, collar, and cuffs so they looked white – the pictures doesn’t show that very well but in person you can see it.  I sponged the edges of the ornament in Crumb Cake ink and added the Linen Thread bow at the top.

The snowflake stamp fits perfectly in the ornament punch.  I stamped it once on Very Vanilla and once on Always Artichoke, punched them out, sponged the edges, tied the Linen Thread on the tops and then added the Basic Pearls to the center.

The Reindeer also fits.  I stamped him with Early Espresso ink.  I’m not sure you can see it but I added just a touch of the Smooch Accent ink.

The last of the tags I used the “Do not open ’til Dec 25” stamp and punched it out with the matching Designer Label Punch.  For this one I used my Stampin’ Write Markers so the words are in Early Espresso and the outside decoration is in Always Artichoke.  On one of them I used my last tiny little pearl where the period is on Dec.  I have since ordered more of the pearls – I really like adding them here and there to different projects.  Just pick them up with the tip of your Paper Piercer and place where you want it on your project.

Last I wanted to show you a better picture of the clear box that holds all the tags.  I used the Thick Window Sheets in the the catalog – ran it through my Big Shot with the Fancy Favor Box die.  Then I put that inside the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder and embossed the front and part of the sides with the snowflake.  Can you see it in this picture?

I added Satin Early Espresso ribbon around along the the little tag tied on with the Linen Thread.

This would be an easy project to adapt to other seasons or occasions.  Just change the colors and stamp set to what you need.  If you didn’t want a clear box you could use a card stock box to hold them.  If you wanted notes instead of tags then include the little small envelopes that the 3×3 cards fit inside.

I announced the winners of my Royal Blog Tour Blog candy yesterday afternoon – so if you missed that then check out this post HERE.

Are you ready to play Bingo?  I played last night a version called Pokeeno – I have a group of ladies and we meet about once a month and play – it is basically like Bingo but the cards that we use have images from a deck of 52 playing cards – so you call out using a deck of cards that gets shuffled.  We have a prize for each round.  I’ll show you my prize from last night later – our theme was Christmas Ornaments and I made mine using Stampin’ Up!s new fabric and then I made a box to match.  I didn’t win anything last night at all – I never got a Bingo at all and most of the night I wasn’t even close.  But now it’s time for you guys – let’s see if we get a winner today…..

And now for today’s piece – Here is piece #9 –the leaves from the Season of Friendship stamp set (stamped in Pear Pizzazz).

RBT – Winter Post Treat Bag

I planned to share details about each of my projects for the Royal Blog Tour that just finished.  If you missed it or if you want to go back and revisit any of the blogs all the links are still available on the main Blog Tour site – CLICK HERE.

I have decided to start by sharing the easiest of the four projects and since I had everyone tell me which project was their favorite – I know many people couldn’t pick just one – this was the one chosen the least number of times.  It is a quick and simple project so perhaps the simplicity kept it from being a chosen favorite.

I used a Mini Lunch Sack from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog.  They come with the scallop border already on it and inside there is a sturdy piece of cardboard in the bottom – I wasn’t expecting that.  So it is actually a sturdy bag.

I took the bag and ran it through my Big Shot Die-Cut Machine with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Isn’t it great how it embosses the snowflakes on this bag?  In case you are wondering the back side does show a debossed image.   Then I used a Sponge Dauber and some Frost White Shimmer Paint and dabbed the snowflakes to make them pop of the bag just a little bit more.  As a final touch I added the Basic Pearls to the centers of the snowflakes – that is a little hard to see in this picture because the Very Vanilla Seam Binding that I tied through the top is covering them up.  I also added some shimmer paint to the scalloped edge.

To decorate the bottom I used a piece of Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper – I like the blues and browns for winter.  I stamped the reindeer image from the Winter Post stamp set in Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla card stock – cut him out, tied some Linen Thread around his neck and added a tiny pearl to the end of his nose.  He is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I stamped the To:/From: and punched it out with the Modern Label punch.  I sponged the edges of the label before attaching it to the bag.  Fill with treats and give to your neighbor, the bus driver, the mailman, or maybe a teacher.  You could quickly make a bunch of these – if you don’t want to cut out the reindeer – stamp a different image that you can punch out instead.

I think that covers that one.  If you have other questions on this project just leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you.   I received lots of comments and many more visitors – thanks to everyone that stopped by.  I very much enjoyed being a part of the Royal Blog Tour.  Details on the remaining projects will be coming up soon. And my blog candy winners will be announced soon too.

I’m also playing Blog Bingo and it’s time for another piece to be called – is anyone getting close yet?

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 6 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I have now filled group 7 and won’t be taking any more names right now – I”ll be taking a Bingo break after group 7 plays – I may play again in the future so I hope you will continue to visit my blog.   See this POST for more details on how to play and the previous winners.

I did a recap of all the pieces on yesterday’s post if you need it.
